Q: Can this be installed mid-playthrough? A: Yes. You'll have to respec to pick the sign.
Q: There are errors in console upon entering the game. A: These are from Compatibility Framework saying you don't have all the classes this mod supports. It can be safely ignored. If the error are different, reach out for troubleshooting, preferably over Discord.
Q: What classes does this support? A: See bottom of the description. If you find one where the sign selection is missing, report it and I will add it.
Known issues
This mod prevents the recruitment of Hirelings. Looking for a solution.
This mod removes the instrument selection upon picking Bard. This issue is fine by me, and I won't try to fix it. (Bard can still play, and find/buy an instrument as they go, and they should have been this way, imo).
Your mods are creative! Regarding Whims of Brilliance, the wording is a bit awkward, so I might be misunderstanding it - but if your Performance check is DC 8 + twice your Performance modifier, it feels like the player is punished (or at least not rewarded) for having a high Performance skill, which seems a bit odd. In practice, if you're rolling against your own DC, it ends up being a flat 8, since your modifier cancels itself out.
A fair observation, which has been made earlier (on Discord, it's not like you missed it), and I suspect you won't be the last to say it so I'll pin this.
Only considering Performance, the more you have the harder it is, but there are other ways to improve your odds, with advantage, and flat or rolled bonuses to skill checks.
Basically it wants you to diversify your sources of benefits instead of simply increasing Performance itself. It's weird, but it's intended to be, it's part of its identity on a conceptual level. It's uncontrolled creativity. It demands a lot of agency to control, and here agency takes form in the way of side buffs. And you're punished, in essence, by being "too creative" and not disciplined enough.
Hope this clarifies the vision behind the effect and its design. And that it's a satisfying answer.
Edit: oops, forgot to unlock this when making it a sticky, so you couldn't respond.
Will be added on the next update (on the weekend). If you can't wait, consider joining the Discord and asking for the file there. You can also start as an other supported class and multiclass to get your sign, until you get the next version.
Sure, but I won't be uploading to Nexus for a couple days (I try to upload once a week when there are several small changes like that), but if you come over on Discord I'll share the update there :)
I totally understand the need to only upload an update only after a significant amount of updates/changes to a mod has been made so I'll patiently wait for when you do upload it here.
Incidentally, would you mind if I ask if it's only Classes that needs to be referenced? Because I am wondering if Modded Sub-Classes will be fine as is?
Only classes, subclasses inherit from them so it's enough to cover everything. I usually upload on saturday or sunday, so it's going to take a while, but you do you :) I understand you may not want / be able to join the server.
First of all, I would like to apologize for the Double Post as I am a part of the old generation of Internet peepz, you know, the folk who started out on apps like mIRC where strict rules regarding "Proper Netiquette" was the norm. So I do my best to never double or even multi-post on any discussion I follow online.
Anyway, I just wanted to suggest another Class mod for your consideration. Actually, this one's both a Race and Class mod rolled into one mod. The Aether-born mod...
I'm requesting for The Duo (Dream Guardian Class) to be included in modded class suport if at all possible. I really enjoy this mod, customising just a little bit more is always fun!
Thank you! May I ask what exactly compatability is for and is it required for any new class?
If I were to start off in a class supported by the mod or one of the vanilla ones then later multiclass into an unsupported class would there be a problem with the birthsigns? I was thinking since picking the birthsign seems to only apply once at level 1, it would be fine to still use this mod with unsupported subclasses.
Basically, what this mod does is add a passive selector node to each class in the game. But to do so, I have to explcietely tell the engine each and every single class to add it to, so compatibility is simply adding the classes' id to the list that the engine adds the node to.
No, if you start as a supported class you got your sign selection, so it's fine. If you do the opposite, start as an unspported class the multiclass into a supported one, you won't get it. But this can indeed be used to play unsupported classes through clever multiclassing order.
After I install the new update of your mod, should I respec Gale to get the reverted version of Textbook-perfect, or does that happen without a respec?
It seems for the ASI birthsigns, there are two different raven entries and not a stallion one. Note: this was when trying to give Karlach the Stallion ASI version.

Thank you for the mod and no need to rush it out for this, I'm happily using this mod together with the classes regardless!

Ask Wizards of the Coast why the uneven distribution.
