Downloaded this after I'd already dappled in making my own dyes. With that previous knowledge, this guide was very easy to follow along with. I got everything right and exactly as I wanted first try! Thank you so much!
I did check out the comments here beforehand, so I swapped out the MapKey references for the races according to the comments below and everything worked fine.
This is am amazing resource and I'm really grateful for it or else I would never have known where to start!
I might be misremembering, but I remember seeing another tutorial on here that covered changing armor meshes to fit modded bodies -- leaving this comment here in the chance that someone else sees it and might help me locate this.
The MapKey references to the Races are wrong. Thanks to warmagicks for pointing this out... These are correct (I did not test everything). Hopefully, the author of the mod will fix it in the template.
been stuck for more than 3 days... followed everything to a tee... still don't know why my custom armor is invisible? I mean, all I see is my character wearing underwear...
the armor exists, along with its icon... it just doesn't show up...
i might have figured out what's wrong; i was having the same problem. if using notepad++, under "visuals" are the races, eg; human_male, human_female, etc. the mapkey values for each are incorrect. it's minor, but obviously makes a difference because it will prevent the visuals from appearing in game.
for example, in the tutorial RootTemplate provided by OP, for the human_female, the mapkey value is listed as: "71180b76-5752-4a97-1fb7-1a911969587f". it should be: "71180b76-5752-4a97-b71f-911a69197f58" the second half of the mapkey value is out of order. i've only tested this for human female which works for the character models of githyanki female/elven female/tiefling female (not strong body type) and it worked. i took the second mapkey value right out shared.pak's RootTemplate. hope it helps!
Since your guide includes references to colour editing, any clue how to change the colour of Adamantine armours so metal is grey/silver? I tried setting the colour values manually, but everything changes except for the metal. Not sure if this is hard-coded somewhere, but the bloody plum dye gets close to a grey colour with a slight red tint. Can't figure out how to get a similar result from the code.
As someone that was excited to get into modding for BG3, but had no idea of how to start, I thank you for your post and guide. You gave me the means to put my ideas into action. Thank you.
I suggest looking at the vanilla armor.txt files located in the Shared.pak’s extracted following places: • Public\Shared\Stats\Generated\Data • Public\SharedDev\Stats\Generated\Data • Public\Gustav\Stats\Generated\Data • Public\GustavDev\Stats\Generated\Data
Where are the last two paths coming from? Do I have to extract the Gustav pak? I can't find it if I just extract the Shared pak.
