Id be so down for this mod if it lowered the initial heal range to 1-3 and then added spellmodifier of the person who casted it instead of always +3 (so you get 1-3+spellmodifier), so chars with really s#*! casting make really s#*! goodberries (although characters with negative spellmodifiers might give you a berry that does 0 healing)and good casters make better goodberries up to 1-3+4, but if I had to guess from a coding perspective there's only one goodberry item and it's far easier to only have one value?

Thanks, nice improvement, felt very useless for a spell slot beforehand, now it's actually worth using.

yeah, 4 berries that do a D4 each are kind of.... meh. it's a lot better bang for your buck on a 1st level healing spell than a healing word. as its minimum healing and maximum healing are statistically higher than it. and early game it will be better than cure wounds because your spellcasting mod wont be as significant. but the trade-off between Cure wounds and good berry will still be down to preference as the 2 are damn near equal.

Appreciated!  Could you also possibly create a version that turns the Camp Supply value into 10 per Berry so we can get a full Long Rest with one cast?  It's honestly the primary reason I'd ever use Goodberry to begin with, and 5e had it this way.  Even if the healing value is reduced to 1, I'd still take the free Long Rest over anything else.  Thank you my friend!

i second this, just some of the flexibility of the og spell back would be wonderful. I personally love using them in combination with 1 level into cleric to amp the berries up to 4hp per berry when out of combat. 40hp for a 1st level spell slot with is being able to be up-cast and do more healing. is fantastic. sure some people won't say that it's worth an entire character level to pull off. if it's done at the start of the game you maximize its potential. sure ur gonna get your ASI and highest level spell slots 1 level before everyone else, but hey thats alright in my book for the extra cantrips and additional 1st level spells..

could you make a version of the spell that does what the 5e counterpart does? 10 berries 1hp each flat. would appreciate you for it, call it something like "og berries" wouldn't mind if it didn't supply camping supplies, in case its not within your knowhow to make.

It's an early game utility spell, not a full fledged endgame super potion for free.

      This!
Also, in 5e it's up to ten berries that each heal 1 hp and could replace rations. That's in most cases, 10hp.
In BG3 it's 4 berries that are 1d4 healing each, which averages out to be 10 healing per casting of the spell. Since there are less berries it also makes it more economical in terms of action economy (which, let's be honest, it's not really supposed to be used during combat). The chances of at least healing 8hp across the 4 berries is 86.33%, that means that in less than 14% of uses, it's below 8hp restored. Outside of combat, using goodberry is actually quite a bit better than a 1st level healing word (even with a 20 stat) and has a higher chance of healing 10hp or more than 1st level cure wounds (even with a 20 stat).

People are free to use it if they want, or to ignore the original version of goodberry, but the claim that it's bad is completely false.

I was unaaware of the dnd spell, having never played it. I did notice that the 5e spells mod actually does have it the way you mention where it restores 10 hp flat with ten berries.

I was trying to be a little funn in my description (and failing) I just thought it should do more with the spell slot it takes and so I buffed it a little bit. Thanks for the info tho, I will make a version of the spell that is more faithful to dnd now.

And this right here, is the problem with people making "balance" mods with literally zero knowledge of DnD 5e--in a game that utilizes most of the 5e game mechanics.

I wish more modders would educate themselves before labeling mods as "balance" mods.

Except it's not labeled as balance mod. I just buffed it. I am not going to make any balance mods, I wanted to make something to learn how to mod the game and this is the spell I chose. Feel free to not use it.

You do realise the game changed a ton of spells and features to fit better with the game mechanics, so if most players feel like goodberries isn't a useful use of a spell slot, it doesn't matter what the 5e original rules say, those players are most likely correct.

To be fair in the official 5e D&D the enemies dont have player class actions, cant jump around like frogs, dont all throw around loads of alchemist fires, dont have arrows that explode for AoE damage, don't get free bonus action attacks with side effects and no game I have ever played actually expects the number of combats in a play session this video game does. I can absolutely see why classicfig has made this mod.

It's also extremely useful to give out as free "potions" to pick up downed party members, since it's magical healing and as such will revive them.

Was totally useless before, tried it once and wondered why it existed at all.  Might actually equip it now.

If you found Goodberry useless, you're not using it right. Research the spell in DnD, then you'll see how useful the spell actually is.

Can you just let people decide how they want to play the game? If you thint hey are wrong about the spell being useless, that's fine, you can have that opinion. Stop telling people how to play the game. The mod is optional, it is not a balance change, you are not compelled to download it.
