About this mod
This is a homebrew subclass that I created for 5e because I don't think that the Samurai subclass is interesting. I think it's balanced and works well within the context of this game.

Level 3:
Counter Attack: When a creature misses or hits you with a melee attack, expend a Counter Attack Charge to make one melee attack against the creature. On a hit, your AC increases by 1 until the beginning of your next turn, and the target receives the Reeling condition for 2 turns. The AC bonus increases to 2 at level 10, and the Reeling condition increases to 3 turns at level 7 and 4 at level 10.
Counter Attack Charge: You have four Counter Attack Charges at Level 3 and earn one additional charge at level 7. You regain all expended charges after completing a short or long rest.
Swift Strike: After making an attack, you can make an unarmed attack using your bonus action. The damage equals 1d4 + StrengthModifier and increases to 1d6 at level 7, and 1d8 at level 10. (You'll notice in the log that it's subtracting 1 from the damage. This is to negate the +1 base damage applied to unarmed strikes because I couldn't figure out how to disable it.)
Level 7:
Lightning Reflexes: Your initiative bonus increases by 2.
Fearless Advance: Charge forward, attacking all hostile creatures in your way. Deals weapon damage and knocks targets prone on a failed saving throw.
Level 10:
Battle Meditation: Enter a battle meditation until the beginning of your next turn. During this time, you regain one Counter Attack Charge, you have resistance to all damage, advantage on all saving throws, and your movement speed increases by 10 feet. Additionally, any successful attacks that you make deal critical hit damage. You can use this feature once and regain all expended uses after completing a short or long rest.
Additionally at level 10, if your Counter Attack hits, you have advantage on weapon attacks until the end of your next turn.
