Patch 6 includes 2 new font scaling options directly in game. This is great, but there's no base font scaling, so NoSmallText is still needed.

North Marker doesn't work for me, even with no other mods at all (PC, Win 10, DX11, Patch 6, Hotfix 25) I found the problem. Apparently 1680x1050 now counts as Low Res! I resized minimap_frame.dds to 324x324, and dir_north.dds to 16x16 and put them in: Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Public\Game\GUI\AssetsLowRes\Minimap and it now works!
What if we WANT smaller fonts? It looks like the smallest I can go in the game options is 64. I HAVE to have captions in order to help with my sensory processing issues, but they take up so much space. Any chance you could make a small font option?
This is absolutely great, the screenshots show what a VAST improvement this is over vanilla. Hopefully no more headaches after 30 minutes playing the game. And it is honestly embarrassing that this isn't included in the base game.
One problem though: I do not have any Public\GUI folder structure. I have a data folder but that's it. Where shall I put the mod? (Playing the game on Steam.)
EDIT: I just placed it in there now, basically creating a Public\GUI etc. folder structure. However, it didn't work. None of it. Not the combined mod, not the black background, not font +2, so I am certain the mod has to go somewhere else --- but where?
Thank you, this really helps me co-op with my hard of sight friend on local multiplayer. Also reduces my eyestrain over time.
Unfortunately, I think there's a bug with the controller mode. Since install, all the shop items and crafting menus are way oversized (both text and icons) and I have no idea how or why it happens. Again, it's a controller mode only bug; happens on both single and multiplayer save files, but using keyboard and mouse makes everything magically fine again. I removed Improved UI after realising this could be the incompatibility so many have mentioned, but no dice. I've installed Colour Tweaks High Contrast, Easier Text Combined and Hotbar Disabled Contrast. I'd appreciate if you could try to replicate it on your end if you have a controller you can use, since I kinda have no idea what the heck is going on.
I checked it out, and it looks to me like this is by design. In controller mode, the screen layout of those views has fewer columns, so everything is scaled up to take up the extra space. This is true even without the mod, but it's probably more noticeable with the larger font sizes.
Unlike most mods, you do not need to match up these loose files between party members in multiplayer. The game doesn't check them, so you're each free to use your own combination of effects and sizes.
EDIT - not sure I'm seeing the full effect. The game is being extremely reluctant to recognize my Steam controller, even though it works everywhere else, on 2 different computers. This used to work perfectly, maybe they broke something in a patch?
Might be. For now we're just using the item descriptions tabs to navigate shop and trade windows because your changes are just too useful to give up. In my game we can't see more than 3-4 letters per word in the shop menus and all the icons overlap and spill out of their designated boxes, so we're just using context clues. I'm using a Spectra Infinity controller and my friend's just using a PS4 controller. Game might be kinda scuffed, but we're able to play it anyway and the enlarged/cleared text everywhere else works perfectly fine.
I suppose this should just be a warning for anyone who's thinking of using both controllers AND text/visual UI mods.
For whatever reason, the "Hotbar Disabled Contrast" is incompatibile with "Better Inventory UI (with Improved UI Assets)." FYI, in case anyone else had the same issue and couldn't figure it out. (Color tweak variations work fine though :D Love it!)
Hi! I have a question: is it possible to keep the default font on books, scrolls, letters, notes, etc.? I like the serif font style in this kind of documents because I feel more """immersed""" [?]. I don't know if it possible (guess not), but just asking for some clarification.
I'm not interested in doing this, but lots of things are possible if you're willing to put in the work. The fonts are defined in Public\Game\GUI\Theme\Keyboard.Fonts.xaml. There is only DefaultFont and SpecialFont, but you can probably add more, like "BookFont":
Then you should be able to use this as the FontFamily in any part of the UI. For books, you'd probably need to change Public\Game\GUI\Widgets\Book.xaml (extract from Game.pak). Not sure if that would include letters, but I expect so.
Hi, I'm new to this modding business. I download the mod but it didn't do anything...? I imagine I'm missing something. Looking forward to fixing this I'm visually impaired so this'll be a real help.
In this case, there's not much to it. Extract the zip file into the folder mentioned in the instructions. Read them carefully and verify your folder structure matches. If the files exist while the game is launching, it will use them.
Nexus shows that you've only downloaded Combined so far. That change is actually fairly subtle, so depending on your visual acuity, you might not notice the font difference. The larger font sizes and black backgrounds are more noticeable.

If I (as host) use only these Easier Text mods, will they be able to join my game, if they don't install them?
Do any of the Easier Text mods affect the save game files?
Thanks,
Toby

This is the folders structure you want: \Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\Public\Game\GUI\Theme
If it doesnt work its overwritten by one of your other mods
