About this mod
If you ever wanted your BG3 elves to look more like DA2 or Elder Scrolls elves, this is for you!
- Permissions and credits
I made this as a fun little project to make the BG3 elves elfier, working with the limitations of the more realistic bg3 style. It's a head replacer, so every NPC using that mesh will have their head changed (Astarion's head won't be changed by the CC Mesh option included here). I'm not good at mods so there are some limitations: more notably, one of the heads is a half-elf head, which might break immersion for some people. I think there might be some mod that fixes this. Also, these heads won't appear on strong bodies.
Your options are:
Half-Elf Lady, Big Pupils. My original project.
H-ELF Lady, Smaller Pupils.
Elf Lady, because I wanted to make a subtler version for anyone who'd want it, since the H-ELF has pretty strong features
Government mandated Elf Guy (UPDATED), because I only care for women but knew I can't afford the public scandal that would arise from such misandry
Elder-scrollish Elf Guy, because a friend asked me to try my hand at it
Elfier Astarion's CC Head, because a friend ALSO asked me to do it and thought I could reuse it for a CC head.
Zelda inspired Half-Elf Head, an attempt I'm not happy with at all (very difficult to make the animeish style work with the realistic style) but I thought someone out there might like it anyways.
You pick which heads you want for your game. The H-elf Octavia faces are incompatible with each other as they are the same head.
Please show me the elves you make with this!
Issues:
- There's a slight seam around the ears.
- Half Elf has some eyebrow asymmetry, hopefully it's only I who notices it. This might get fixed in the future.
- Earrings might be floating, some more than others. From what I've checked, facial piercings should still work well.
- The nose bridge looks a bit weird with the normal BG3 wrinkle map (check media), since it's too wide for a normal person. I recommend using commanderstrawberry's mod to reduce wrinkles.
Questions:
-Can you make (another vanilla head from the game) elfier? Can you make X changes to this head you already made?
I might make more heads if I'm bored and feel up to the challenge, but generally, no. I don't want modding to feel like a chore.
-Can you fix X issue?
I probably won't, I'm happy with the results as they are.
-Can I use these assets for another mod? Can I use this as inspiration for a mod?
You can do whatever you want with my mod, but I'd like to be credited if you use my assets (and see the results!). If you're only using my mod as inspo but not directly using its assets, you don't need to credit me, although I'd like to see it as well!
INSTALLATION:
Simply extract the ZIP you've picked into the Baldur's Gate 3 Data folder.
The path you'll be extracting it into should be something like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Data\
To uninstall, simply delete the "Generated" folder.
Special thanks to Padme4000, Codexa and the BG3 wiki for their tutorials, but especially the DBTR discord modding community, ChaoticNeuThrall, Neonbutchery and Airwynne for helping my very incompetent self. Without them this mod wouldn't have been possible at all, they helped me a lot with my several issues along the way.
