Ships come in a single pack and use the SOL-V Style B altered/customized main and detail texture combination.
Changing the primary color changes the accent hue. Ship base color remains dark. Glow remains separate.
Ships possess attributes comparable to official ships of the classes and types or slightly higher.
Ships come in 2 configurations; Battle and Excavation.
Ships also possess bonuses appropriate for the ship configurations (weapons for Battle, mining/drones for Excavation).
The XL Dreadnought ships utilize the maximum length a ship can be in the Ship Editor or beyond.
The XL Dreadnought attributes are increased/decreased in relation to the increase in size and mass over standard.

NOTES


PART SCALING
All SOL-V ships were designed prior to the b136 game update, which introduced the ability to scale ship parts.
As such, all SOL-V ships utilize ship parts in their default size.

For new ship designs utilizing this part scaling ability, please consider taking a look at my V-CORE Ship Collection.
Every V-CORE ship utilizes this scaling ability to some degree, with some nearly doubling the ship editor maximum ship length.

SOL-V XL Dreadnoughts

While practicing with scale for ship classes in relation to the limits of the Ship Editor, I expanded on the length, size and housing of the furnace core engine. I also practiced having forward ship segments be more asymmetrical vertically, as well as utilizing the maximum length of the editor.

Using my SOL-V dreadnought attributes as a base, these XL Dreadnoughts have had their base attributes increased/decreased by varying percentages in relation to the increase in their size.

Inspiration For This SOL-V Ship Collection

A game I enjoy playing now and then is called Frostpunk. I enjoy the unforgiving cold and dangers of the environment while being reliant on a central heating core to survive. While Astrox Imperium offers a different form of unforgiving cold with its vastness of space and dangers present in it, I found that I missed the aesthetic of the furnace reactor from Frostpunk with the sense of power being pumped out from it and it being central to your existence and survival.

I finally decided to delve into the ship editor recently to bring that sense of power and central core to ships in Astrox and these were the first ships I put together as I learned how the ship editor worked. My aim was to base a series of ships around an engine that was similar to the 'furnace' style reactor from Frostpunk, but with overall designs that could still fit within the universe of Astrox.

I may expand this existing style of furnace engine to other ship classes, types and styles if anyone shows interest in my doing that. As I get more familiar with the ship editor, I want to explore alternate styles of furnace engine designs and the ship styles that could come from it as its core.

I might even try out a different style of ship and cylindrical/circular engine core that has more of a shoddy, haphazard, thrown-together, barely works, constant upkeep type of appearance due to the rigors of space. Perhaps a 'steampunk-in-space' style with a lot of piping as if a steampunk civilization barely managed to haul themselves off-world and into space.

Player Ship Installation:

1) On your computer, browse to your Astrox Imperium game installation folder and enter into the following folder:
> "\Astrox Imperium_Data\MOD\ship_parts\textures"
2) In the download file, enter the "Textures" folder and copy the "solb_detail.png" and "solb_main.png" files into the "textures" folder on your computer
3) On your computer, return to the "MOD" folder and enter into the "ships" folder
> "\Astrox Imperium_Data\MOD\ships"
4) In the download file, enter the folder of the desired ship type (Battle/Excavation)
5) In the download file, copy both the 'icon_solv.png' and 'icon_solvxl.png' files out to your 'ships' folder on your computer
6) In the download file, copy both the image and txt files of the same name for each ship you want from this folder to your "ships" folder
7) Repeat for the other ship type folder in the download to add more ship variations to your game

After the ship files are installed, they can be made available at stations for purchase.

SANDBOX - NEW GAME
- Starting a new Sandbox game causes the generated stations to be populated automatically from the outset with the ships you added to your 'ships' folder.

CAMPAIGN - NEW GAME
CAMPAIGN - EXISTING GAME
- Ships added to the 'ships' folder will slowly become available at stations randomly over time in new Campaign games.
(check station Lounge News for notifications of new ships becoming available at stations)

SANDBOX - EXISTING GAME
- Ships require being manually added to one or more station shipyards in the save game files to make them available for purchase.
- To make any or all added ships available immediately at one or more stations, you can either manually alter any station file's <HANGAR> section to include the ship(s), or utilize the in-game Mod Tools > Station Editor and edit one or more stations in your save game to include the new ships.

- In my experience, I have not seen the game add new mercenaries to stations over time from ships in the "ships_npc" folder in any of these modes.
- I believe new mercenaries piloting these custom ships after adding their files to the 'ships_npc' folder must be manually added to one or more station files in your save game.
- To make any or all added merc ships available immediately at one or more stations, you can either manually alter any station file's <MERC> section to include the ship(s), or utilize the in-game Mod Tools > Station Editor and edit one or more stations in your save game to add mercs piloting these ships to the station(s).
