    Hey baylor703
    Not sure if you're still active here, but I have a request you could maybe add as a separate version.
    Would it be possible to add the Map back in on Nightmare difficulty? Preferably without showing the player location.
    I always thought it was odd to have no Map at all, but without knowing where you are on the map it would still add to the difficulty.
    I'm not sure if this is even possible or how much work it would be, but if you're reading this and still care about modding AI I thank you for considering it.
    Thanks for your mod btw, I'm not that far in yet but the description sounds great.

      I think they had made the nightmare difficutly in a slightly unhinged way. To loose the map is one thing but to allow no means of knowing whether you are at full health or a hit away from death is the real silly part in a game mode where component scarcity is such that each medkit is worth its weight in gold. They should have left it or at least show it in the equipment radial menu - it was absolutely possible to get injured without dying on nightmare and absolutely no means of knowing one way or another on loading a previous save.

      Completely agree. A less nightmarish nightmare mode would be awesome.

    Bro I was in lower hospital and right after I saved the alien popped up behind me. I was so damn scared I unloaded and I thankfully scared it away.

    What's a nice clear sign I installed this correctly and it's working?

      Probably to install the version without footsteps and play a bit, no footsteps from the alien are audible ? It works.

    Man, I got excited and reinstalled the game for this, but I don't know if it's me, but I honestly can't tell a difference in alien behavior.
    The alien is as frustrating and un-scary as it's always been unfortunately. :(

      Have you tried unpredictable alien? That mod makes the alien a lot easier to deal with if this mod is too tough. Or you could try lowering the difficulty.

      I agree, I thought part of this mod was the Alien not being "tethered" to you.  I trying to find the Trauma Kit, and since i got to this med facility he's been on me like stink on shit. LoL!!! And I'm playing on Easy.. I'll prolly keep using it, for awhile. Until I can't stand it or die 100 more times. :>

      There are a couple scripted moments in the game when the alien will be stalking you no matter what. The med bay area is one of them, and it's by far the toughest part of the game. Push through it! Here are a couple of tips:

      -Learn to play without the motion tracker as much as possible. It will make you freeze up a lot, when you should be moving. It will "ping" automatically one time when the alien or someone is close.

      -On that note, on medium difficulty, don't be afraid to walk. It is nearly as quiet as crouching in that mode.

      -Pay attention to sound. This is huge. If you hear noises in the vents- YOU ARE SAFE AND SHOULD BE MOVING. The alien is in the ceiling for the time being. When he drops down, you will hear him drop, and it will be followed by a hiss. When he goes up into the ceiling, you will hear him climb up, but there will be no hiss.

      -Try to NEVER hide in lockers. It's a last resort thing

      -It's kinda gamey, but remember that it is always better to crouch and hide behind boxes and other objects in the game world. Even if it seems like your head is above them and you are exposed, he can't see you. You can "kite" the alien and move around the object as he moves around it.

      -The motion tracker will tell you exactly which way you need to go, room by room. Look for the little bar at the edges of the screen.

      -Don't get frustrated in the hospital ward. It's in the early game and it's by far the most difficult part of the game.

    Describing the monsters behaviour as more "realistic" sounds strange considering it's a fictional monster so you can't really base your changes off reality. About to try the mod though.

      It's a fictional monster but it represents a living organism. Why would the Alien decide that Ripley and only Ripley needs to be followed and stalked everywhere she goes? How come you can technically sit and hide for 24 hours, and the alien will STILL be wandering around near you? In the normal game there's a few places where the alien never gets bored and just camps next to you despite having no idea you're actually there. If you stay hidden, it should get bored and look for easier prey until it hears you again.

    FOR THOSE OF YOU DEALING WITH MAX AUDIO ISSUES, HERE IS THE SOLUTION:

    1. Install Notepad++
    2. Go to your steamapps\common\Alien Isolation\DATA and locate the ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML file
    3. Open ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML in Notepad++
    4. Scroll down until you find a section that looks like this:

     <Setting name="Multithreaded Shadow Rendering">
          <Quality name="Off"                  bool="0"        precedence="2"/>
          <Quality name="On"                bool="1"        precedence="1"/>
        </Setting>
        </Setting>
        <Setting name="Audio">
            <Setting name="SFX Volume">
                <Quality name="10"          float="1.0"        precedence="11"/>
                <Quality name="9"              float="0.9"        precedence="10"/>
                <Quality name="8"              float="0.8"        precedence="9"/>
                <Quality name="7"              float="0.7"        precedence="8"/>
                <Quality name="6"              float="0.6"        precedence="7"/>
                <Quality name="5"              float="0.5"

    5. This section is the problem; it breaks the "Audio" setting detection.

        </Setting>
        </Setting>

    6. Highlight and erase ONE "</Setting>" so that your ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML file looks like this:

    <Setting name="Multithreaded Shadow Rendering">
          <Quality name="Off"                  bool="0"        precedence="2"/>
          <Quality name="On"                bool="1"        precedence="1"/>
        </Setting>
        <Setting name="Audio">
            <Setting name="SFX Volume">
                <Quality name="10"          float="1.0"        precedence="11"/>
                <Quality name="9"              float="0.9"        precedence="10"/>
                <Quality name="8"              float="0.8"        precedence="9"/>
                <Quality name="7"              float="0.7"        precedence="8"/>
                <Quality name="6"              float="0.6"        precedence="7"/>
                <Quality name="5"              float="0.

    7. Save the file and enjoy playing Alien: Isolation!

    This mod made the whole game on the "hard" mode alone so much more intense and realistic. Also, the suggestion on changing the gamma a nudge down is appreciated, it brought out the atmosphere you expect from this game. The other additions were challenging and were certainly to my liking. Thank you! :)

    I played this on hard and my impression is that the Alien is far too closely tied to the player for my liking and also for "realism" purposes. I like the original unpredictable Alien Mod better because the encounters with the Alien on this big ass space station are truly random and there might be 5-10 minutes when the alien is not around you crawling in the vents.

      I actually prefer the alien not being around too. I like exploring the station but still have a feeling it might show up. Unpredictable alien is good enough for me - not perfect as the alien can sometimes quickly jump in and out of vents in the same location over and over . I even forgot I’ve got silent movement mod installed and keep crawling most of the time as it seems so dangerous to walk or run:) It’s often more tense than if the alien is not there. The worst part was medical when it’s constantly around you even when modded. I appreciate this mod but it’s not for me.
