Doesn't actually remove all lens flares, idk how but one of the most consistent lens flare effects was ignored by the mod author, in fact a ton of lens flares haven't been removed, I also like how in the screenshot of the flare you show has a big, long lens flare that was ignored.
If you're going to title your mod "lens-flare be gone" and "no lensflare" then actually remove the lens flares, also don't put what are clearly lens flares in your 'after' screenshots.
Correct title of the mod should be 'Some disgusting Lens-Flare be gone - Alien Isolation some Lensflare but all lighting effects'.
This mod is welcome! A. Ripley has finally become human. We can finally see through human eyes and not some s*itty camera. It's nice being able to see more on the screen with the flares being toned down quite a bit, compared to vanilla. Also, it certainly helps strain the eyes less when you play in the night. Thank you! :)
is not disgusting or ugly some parts of it are actually kinda pretty i hope the devs make alien 2 with more lens-flare to make these people cry even more
The game is from a first person perspective. The contrivance is that you're seeing directly through Ripley's eyes. If Ripley is anything like a normal human being, her eyes shouldn't have the shortcomings of a movie camera (like chromatic abberation and lens flare). I think humans can see lens flare if they're looking through a glass window with a curve, but Ripley isn't doing that for most of the game.
I think that the lens flare is simply misplaced. If that type of lens flare was activated only when Ripley is wearing her space suit, I'd be alright with it. It's about removing barriers between the player and immersion, not being realistic per se. For me, immersion is very important to motivate me to play the game, and, in a horror game, immersion has a further importance.
In a movie, lens effects are o.k., because you're generally in a third person perspective. I think lens effects are actually helpful in a movie, to represent the disembodied nature of the watcher's viewport.
The lens flare in this game has a problem beyond everything I've said, and it's that there's a point at which, 2-3 metres away from the light emitting object, the lens flare switches on/off. That's distracting for me, and makes my mind wander to thinking about the game engine and graphics, rather than embodying Ripley.
Maybe they can include a slider if they make another game, so that you can turn lens effects to 10 and I can turn it to 0.
But, but... without lens-flare how will we know how clever the game creators are LOFL.
Thanks for allowing us to bypass one of the most annoying parts of FPS games over the past 20 years. When I play an FPS I want realism, not have the game try to fool me into thinking I'm watching a movie
movies tend to have much more realism than FPS games in almost all FPS games u get shooted 32742843763287 times without dying in this game ripley can get shoot & not die why dont u ask for a mod of ripley insta dying when she gets shooted since u care so much about the lens not being realistic
'DISGUSTING looking and really ugly' wow so disgusting and ugly wow no if u say those things about that lens which is nothing i wonder what u say about bigger things

By the way, if they make Alien Isolation 2 they will 100% give an option to remove lens flare.
