Permissions and credits
Hello fellow Survival Horror fans,

have you ever wondered what to do against this DISGUSTING looking and really ugly designed almost graphics-bug looking like lens-flare in the middle of the screen, whenever looking into some light source or when using a flare?

Well of course you can try that cheap do-it-yourself-solution often shown on the internet by just removing the file LENS_FLARE_CONFIG.BIN
from the
Install Dir\Alien Isolation\DATA folder.

But in this case, if you just remove this lensflare config file from the game folder, but ALL beautyful light effects are removed from Alien Isolation - the light bulbs and neons on the ceiling look like some sterile white textured bulbs or pipes without any gloom and beautyful shine around it, the flames of the flamethrower don`t look good and "flamy" anymore, all light effects enhancing the visuals when firing any weapon are removed.........
The sun next to that gas giant outside the window has no beautyful shine and no corona anymore, and completely every light source looks completely boring and sterile.
So you see, just removing that Lens_flare_config.bin file from the Alien game is not a solution!
Of course you can get rid of that disgusting looking lens-flare in the middle of the screen with this method. But this method also removes EVERY other beautyful light effect from the game too.

I could not see that disgusting lens-flare anymore without always vomiting on my laptop every time I looked on some bulb or neon or flare and this strange ugly completely misplaced looking effect compared to the otherwise so beautyful and superb graphics appeared in the middle of my screen.
But I don`t liked that sterile and dead look every light source has after just removing the Lens_Flare_config like recommendet on the internet. Yes I really missed all the other beautyful light effects after doing so.

Now finally the solution is here, it took me almost 5 hours to get used to that almost enigma-like code when opening that file "Lens_Flare_config.bin" with Notepad++ and I needed to reload the game again and again and again several dozen times after changing or removing these strange crypted signs inside that bin file, sign by sign.

Often the game crashed for example when firing the shotgun or flamethrower or when looking on that sun, and the code always had to be restored again and another try and another testrun with different signs deleted.
Until.... finally it worked after almost a full night of modding :D

Here is a video from the beta status of my mod from some days ago when it worked for the first time:

In the meantime I did some bugfixing and stability testing, and so far it works PERFECT.

Maybe there won`t be a single download of this mod because Alien Isolation is already an old game from the year 2014, but I did this mod for myself because I love survival horror games and Xenomorphs and horror and Alien Isolation and Outlast and Resident Evil and and and.
And I wanted to share this personal mod (a better A.I. for a more unpredictable and more interesting Alien will be released soon, I am still testing it, and no it`s not just another upload of "that" Unpredictable A.I. mod you can find on the internet, because it was released early last year and is completely outdated and it does not work anymore for the newest patched Alien Isolation game with all DLC content).

But I need to fine-tune my new A.I a little bit and test it for several hours in every possible Alien encounter before releasing it.
Like I did with that Lens-Flare-Mod. I don`t release crashy buggy alpha-crap which makes the game crash or badly unbalanced unrealistic stuff or mods that does not work well.

And here some screeeeeeeeenys to show you how important it is NOT just removing the LENS_FLARE_CONFIG.bin from the data folder, because you would lose every single one of these beautyful light effects.
It is way better to use my mod instead :)

I know this mod MIGHT be a little late, but better late than never :D

This is how the new lens-flare and gloom and bloom in Alien Isolation looks like, in my opinion it is just PERFECT it is subtle it is stunningly beautyful, it does not cover half of the screen with overdone and outright ugly graphics effects but has beautyful shine and subtle shine and reflection effects at the corners of the screen, it`s not that good visible on screenshots but you will notice it way better when in motion:

Flamethrower and other weapons work fine too and don`t lose their beautyful gloom and bloom shine and subtle shine effects on the corners of the screen, just the disgusting looking lens flare in the middle of the screen is gone:

Even the chrome teeth of the Xenomorph have it`s beautyful shine - because a healthy Xenomorph is a happy Xenomorph:

Have fun surviving the best Alien experience ever done in a computergame!!! Alien Isolation is without any doubt one of the best games ever made for Horror fans.

This mod is for the latest patched version of Alien Isolation with all patches and all DLC`s.
But it will work on older Alien Isolation versions too.
At least I think so. Just give it a try.

Installation:

Go to C:\Virtual Worlds\Alien Isolation Enhanced Edition\DATA (or whatever your install directory is)
and rename the file
LENS_FLARE_CONFIG.BIN
to
LENS_FLARE_CONFIGxxx.BINxxx and confirm with yes when Windows says "the ending makes the file no longer usable blablablah).

Put my file in install dir\Alien Isolation Enhanced Edition\DATA

and enjoy the new improved light effects without being disgusted again and again by this ugly and misplaced looking strange lens-flare in the middle of the screen.

Do whatever you want with the file, upload it wherever you want, I am none of these "hobby-pseudo-lawyers" who proclaim full copyright to fun and hobby projects and try to suit you and hunt you down when you re-upload or modify my mod.
But I would highly recommend not opening and editing anything in this file with some hex editor or notepad++, because your game will crash as soon as you fire a weapon or look into a lightsource whenever you alter just one of these letters of signs in that strange code.
It took me several hours to find out how to alter that code in the right way. But if you think you can do it better, good luck and lots of Energy Drinks and coding nights and loading the game and crashing and retrying alter the code again and load the game again only to see it crash and try again will be necessary.
I recommend at least 5 gallons of energy drinks and 1-2 nights of coding time for trying to make my mod any.... better or whatever :D
