Just a personal opinion, but the cost of making the ore plants is a bit high. Since you get basically 1 plant for 20 bars that's 40 ore (80 for diamonds). Even adding the chances of getting more than 1 seed from a plant (33%), it still takes literally hours to simply make up for the ore used in making the plant. I guess that's appropriate for making just a few pieces when you need them and don't want to go planetside, but pretty inefficient for any medium or large scale ore production. I'd make it use ore instead of bars (so 20 ore each, including diamonds) or even better - 10 ore, but with very low (5-10%) chance of dropping an extra seed. That way each plant pays itself off in 2 hours (average of 12minutes X 10 cycles) and you have a small chance to come out with a bit on top of it.
Also - the plant/harvest cycle gets a bit tedious after a while for any large plantation since there's a lot of micromanagement and running around involved just to have a few pieces of ore. Perhaps you could make a version of the plant that takes, say, 3 times more time to grow and more resources, but also gives 3 times more products (seeds and ore).
Yeah i was planning on making new tiers of plants in the next update that will give you more ore per harvest. And i was thinking of lowering the price too since I've actually only ever crafted one seed in my game, and got the rest by just exploring planets
Lookin forward to that :3 lol tho when I make a new character, I just jump onto my own server and take a single of each seed that I have from a different character, Diamond seeds are hard to get normally because of how expensive the seed is to make and how rare the ore is at times x3 lol
The solarium seeds, don't show when planted, so its impossible to tell it's stage of growth, though the ones that are spawned naturally on a planet aren't affected by that glitch, however the other seeds (that i've used so far) don't have that problem at all. just the solarium seeds. Since I'm using the two crop mods mentioned in the description to make mods plant take less space and times are kept roughly the same for growth, I can tell how far they've grown by judging the other ore seeds growth next to them that were planted at roughly the same time.
Ok I didn't get any other complaints about this so it took me a while to look into it but its a really simple bug to fix. I literally have to add one letter to the code. I'll include it in the next update which i'm planning on uploading tomorrow. If you want to fix it yourself before i release the new update go to mods/Ore_Farming1_6/objects/farmables/solarium/ and open solariumseed.object in a text editor and change "solariumeed.png" to "solariumseed.png"
Edit: i have no clue why, but that doesn't work. its still trying to load "solariumeed.png" so i just changed the file name.
Edit 2: changed it in the patch files too. It works now
They should work with the current version, its just that the new sprites take up more space so it seems like compact crops doesn't work for it but it does. the would be even more spread out otherwise. Someone also had a problem where the new patch that i uploaded crashed their game, so they just overwrote the old one and it worked
when I load an older world, they're all compacted still, but some of them have been broken as if harvested, and when I plant them, they take up 2 blocks instead of one
yeah thats just the way crystal plants work (the new sprite i based it off of) and it was probably broken because they were technically planted at the same place as another plant after the new update. I'm going to try to see if i can change the sprites to make them take up one block instead of two, but the plants will be twice as small, and idk how that will look in-game.
well, I'm unable to plant them on a single block, I guess it's just me though, cuz they also aren't growing at the same pace for the persistent farmables patch. Since i don't know anything about making or editing mods, I don't know how to fix these things myself x3
I tried changing the sprites to one block, but i can't unfortunately. I think part of the reason is because placement area is 16 pixels wide, and the new ones take up 16 pixels, whereas the old ones took up 12, allowing you to place them 4 pixels closer together. Which is what compact crops does (I think). With the new ones, its just not possible Persistent farmables should work though because it has nothing to do with the sprites at all.
It shouldn't do that unless you somehow re-rendered the world. You have to pick up the ores for the recipes to appear. Try throwing them and picking them up again.
Version 1_2 works normally and this is a great idea! Thanks very much for this, endorsed! Though I suggest that you convert it to a .zip instead of a .rar so that it is compatible with mod managers.

But btw, this is a great mod ^^

how long till the patches for the persistent farmables and compact crops is updated to work with your current version of Ore farming?
