This and College of Winterhold - Quest Expansion are not compatible and making them compatible would be too hard.

I recommend using At Your Own Pace and College of Winterhold - Quest Expansion since they are now compatible.

I personally use At Your Own Pace in my own game and consider this mod obsolete.

I know you said to use At Your Own Pace instead of this mod but i prefer this as it more simple. But my original question is if i can use this alongside At your own pace as i only use the main quest files of the mod and not the College of Winterhold file

Yes, At Your Own Pace is modular, so you can use it for the main quest (and other guild quests) and this for the mage's guild as long as you skip its changes for the college.

I was dumb and installed this and College of Winterhold - Quest Expansion ^^,
Is this the end for my CoW playthrough or can I progress the quest line? :(

for what its worth unless you tell me your mod is totally bugged or something - I have always prefered your mod in my playthrough since December 2016 when this mod first launched and never had a issue. The only 2 quests I personally wanted to slow down were this and the main quest... and you crushed it. I always use this with Immersive College of Winterhold and have never had a issue with either of your mods.

that said I havent played the game in 2 years and am just getting back into it and am loading you mods up in my game again. but yea let me know if over the years some issue has come up.

    For information :
You recommend to use Mod series:
    At Your Own Pace

But this Mod series is problematic and breaks quests
    Especially the main quest... Lol

No, neither of these mods break quests but they do change them. If you have other mods that also modify the same quests there can be incompatibilities. In the case of the main quest there are a growing number of other mods that make small changes to the main quest and therefore cause conflicts with other mods. But that's just how modding works not a problem with any of the mods involved.

I'm talking about the main quest for first dragon.
The Mod in question, on this very particular quest, simply does not work and therefore breaks the quest thread.
Even by the console, there is no way to regain the upper hand.

No dragon, no way of the voice, no sweet roll, and the worst, even no arrow in the knee

On the other hand, I pay particular attention to Mods that want to modify same quests, because indeed it can cause a merry mess.

I use At Your Own Pace in my own game and have never experienced a problem with it. You are experiencing a mod conflict, so keep looking for what's conflicting and decide if that other mod is more important than changing the pace of the main quest.

At Your Own Pace is a modular system, so you can also simply not use the main quest section if that is a problem for you. Unfortunately if something is conflicting with it you will have the same basic problem if you try to use my Not So Fast - Main Quest mod.

The container to configure the mod is very hard to spot, even with the read-me and the screenshots it took me at least 10 min to find it...
But other than that inconvenience, this is a good mod, just what I needed. You may consider your own mod obsolete CDCooley , in favor of At Your Own Pace, but I disagree. A small mod making just the small tweak you need is always better than a huge overhaul that you don't really need, if you'll only use it for one or two of its features. So thank you for this mod !

Jayserpa just released this mod which also adds a saarthal delay but in a different way, and cites this mod as "probably" incompatible, but he didn't test. Is this safe to uninstall midplaythrough or am I stuck with possibly seeing if both are compatible?

No. It's never safe to uninstall mods for Skyrim (except for the most trivial of replacers).

I don't use this mod myself any more. I now use At Your Own Pace instead. But looking at Not So Fast - MG and COW - Quest Expansion together in SSEEdit, it appears that if you load Quest Expansion later so it overwrites my Saarthal delay they should work OK together with my other delays and timers will still working.

But a few things trouble me personally about Jaserpa's mod. First it was assumed to be incompatible with this one without any testing, second that Jaserpa apparently hadn't even heard about At Your Own Pace, third that fixes from the Unofficial Patch aren't carried over, and finally that Jaserpa seems to think that delaying Saarthal is a complete and adequate replacement for either this or At Your Own Pace.

I use Jayserpa's Paarthurnax - Quest Expansion but I don't think I'll be trying the one for the College of Winterhold because slowing down the quest after Saarthal is even more important to me than any flavor added by learning those low-level spells. And lore-wise, an applicant to the college should already know the basic spells. The spells used as a test to get you in are all Apprentice level, so why would the College faculty go back to Novice level spells? Yes, I know Tolfdir teaches Lesser Ward, but I take that as him trying to stress the importance of the underappreciated spells. All of the other dialogue and that random encounter with the prospective college student all indicate the college is designed for higher level learning, not novices.

Fair enough, but I don't think he considers it a complete replacement for at your own pace, as he did upload a patch. That was 3 hours after your comment, however. I see your point about the basic spells, though.

I feel At Your Own Pace does too much. The simplicity of your mod is much better. Might I request a version of Not So Fast that doesn't touch the Saarthal expedition, but does keep the other changes you made? I don't think that should be too hard to accomplish.

I was gonna say, I use an old version of at your own pace, and tbh reading some of the updates it does do too much. Why remove season unending? The author said "I hate meetings." That's... weird. Other people don't, I'm pretty sure a lot of people like that quest, me included. Just kinda strange. To each their own, I guess...

Season Unending is part of the Main Quest, so not relevant to this discussion. You can use Not So Fast - Main Quest and At Your Own Pace - College of Winterhold together if you really like doing that illogical Season Unending quest.

No, I'm not updating this mod. At Your Own Pace is modular and I definitely consider the mage quest changes from it better than this mod. If I take out the Saarthal delay from this mod there's only one tiny bit left (delaying meeting the Psijic monk). The apprentice quests are tied to the Saarthal change, so they would have to go too. If you want to use College of Winterhold - Quest Expansion you'll have to just use it or combine it with At Your Own Pace - College of Winterhold.

Note that At Your Own Pace controls quest progression based on your skill in the magic schools. The levels are configurable with an MCM so you can still fully control when various parts of the quest line continue.

I would like to re-iterate there is still an audience (me) for your mod, since it keeps things really simple. A stripped down version including only the only the companion quests + the monk delay wold be appreciated, but it's your mod of course :)

There's nothing more complicated about At Your Own Pace. It introduces more points of delay, is configurable with an MCM, and there's already a patch.

The stripped down version of this would ONLY be the delay for the Psijic monk. The three quest delays for the other apprentices are tied to the Saarthal delay so trying to keep them would be re-implementing those from scratch.

I no longer use this mod because I find At Your Own Pace to be better, so I have zero interest in rebuilding (especially for compatibility with another mod).

These are small changes but it makes the questline feel less rushed. Thank you.

I can't set the Psijic monk visit delay to any value other than zero. This is the final mod in my load order, so that's not the problem.

It's likely a mod providing loose script files. Loose files in the Data/Scripts folder will override those provided by this mod no matter what the load order shows.

I'm having problems with the Psijic monk showing up, too. Do the 8 days have to be in the college and consecutive? Because when I came back from Saarthal, there was Sam, lounging in the Frozen Hearth, and since Vilkas wanted me to clear out Morvunskar anyway, I took the bait. (My character is a spell-sword and has joined the Companions, also with the 'not so fast' stuff.); by the time I'd finished that quest and popped back into Frozen Hearth, it must have been at least a week.  After a couple of days studying spells, Uthgerd was getting rather restless, so we did a book-fetch for Urag and had to stay out overnight before we got back.  Did the day-counter start over each time my character didn't sleep in the college?

No, the counter starts when the quest would normally start and doesn't depend on your actions. If it's not advancing, set the value to 0 and then wait a day. If that doesn't work then something is also overwriting the file that starts that quest.

Nice! I'm just finding out about this mod. I've always wanted the mage quest to be longer

I just entered Saarthal, would it be safe to install this mid-game?

I doubt it. Quests have probably loaded already. If you want to make a save try the mod and then reload you can but I wouldn't.

The mod only works for me if I leave the default delays. If I change them then the counters never go down. I've tried waiting/sleeping 24 hours and the day counters don't go down. The only other mods I have that affect the college are Obscure's College, College of winterhold tweaks, and immersive college npcs, all of which are loaded before this mod so nothing is overwriting it. I can still manually start the quests by setting the delay to 0.

Edit: nvm I just realized the day counters only change after one of the events is triggered.
