I'm working on " House of the Redguard II ", an evolved, larger Redguard house (this time Redguard exterior too) in the middle of the nature, near Hammerfell border - Falkreath Hold!
That's the official topic link: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1788130-house-of-the-redguard-ii-official-mod-topic/
By the Nine Divines, this is just what I needed. I've been playing Redguards almost exclusively since Morrowind, so seeing racial friendly mods like this puts a smile on my face. I'll probably snag up the rest of your Redguard related work to. Thanks for you hard and awesome work on this!
Hey! This looks cool. D'jnai , (my Redguard), wonders only why it is in Solitude? (not that a nice "homey-home" would not be welcomed anywhere in this cold province) D'janai hopes against hope this is only the first such jewel that you will create for her and her fellow Redguards! Nicely done!
BTW, you could maybe find a way to make this compatible/patchable with; "Real Shelter"- [ http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52612/? ] Thus ending the weather indoors problem.
You're completely right. Solitude wasn't the best place for a Redguard-oriented house. But I was FORCED to build the house in Solitude, I had no choice. I wanted to use an already existing completely exterior structure (a Redguard-looking custom house exterior doesn't really match with Nordic architecture). That empty Solitude windmill room was the only completely exterior structure...the other cities don't have a building like that.
About Real Shelter...thank you very much: I didn't know of that mod! I already sent a message to the author, I hope he will reply soon! However, I think he will reply that the entire structure is covered by his mod (Solitude windmill was an already existing building, so, in my opinion, the House of the Redguard's room must be already covered by Real Shelter)
EDIT: The author told me that Real Shelter is fully compatible with my mod. The windmill is fully covered by his project.
I Thank you. D'Jnai thanks you. She will look forward to possible other abodes you may be able to create in the Redguard style. D'Jnai is very comfortable in this one!
Thanks for the endorsement! I'm really glad you like my mod! I don't know if I will create other Redguard houses...I was thinking to create something Orcish, something custom of course...however, after this mod I will take some rest...then I will see what will be next

Have you looked at the gatehouse area in Whiterun? I think the two exterior rooms on each side of the drawbridge are ideal for converting into small player homes. I've been wanting to renovate them forever, but the CK mystifies me.
You are absolutely right! The gatehouse area is an exterior-interior too, but I didn't like it and I preferred the windmill. Also, the mission of House of the Redguard was to build an house inside of a city: those two areas you were talking about were located outside of the Whiterun city walls.
You seem to be getting good at making Redguard-themed mods. I will download this when I can. Just one suggestion...
Why not make a full fledged Redguard-themed player home (with load doors, nothing wrong with those)? Maybe put it near the Hammerfell border, that way you could include some lore. You also wouldn't be limited to a certain area, since the load door will allow you to do whatever you want with the interior.
"...getting good at making Redguard-themed mods?" Are you one of the users that downloaded my Alik'r Tent? That was the only other Redguard mod of mine... I have to recognize that House of the Redguard is pretty much superior, if compared to the Alik'r Tent: in the Tent mod you couldn't even sit-down on the carpet (only with the help of separate animation mods). Also, the House looks really a Redguard one, while the tent didn't look that so much xD It has been a lot of time...now I'm more expert with the Creation Kit! However, thanks...I really appreciate that you like it
About your suggest: Even if I wanted to create something like that, I don't have the knowledge to build a custom new mesh (in order to create a Redguard house exterior - like exterior walls, roof, windows and door arch -, you must know how to use programs like 3dsMax or Blender, and you must also know how to properly paint textures and texture maps)
you could always search through modders' resources to find meshes that might work. and it's pretty easy to retexture stuff to try to make it look more reguard-ish.
personally, I'm not currently interested in redguard stuff but came across this mod and wanted to check it out. I checked out the video on your woodlands house, too. I like the way you set up storage for that house. I like to roleplay so I don't like the automatic storage that some mods have.
Yeah, some time ago I had a look to modder's resurces but, at that time, I didn't find anything useful for my projects. Anyway, when possible I always try to only use vanilla assets. I find it essential...it is like a personal challenge.
About "House in the Woodlands"...it was cool, but it's the only dead project I have here on the Nexus. The storage system is the same as the other mods, but House of the Redguard has an improved version of it (for example, in House of the Redguard containers have their custom opening sound, wich is a lot better and more immersive)
This is a truly lovely little house, with lots of fun stuff to try out. I loved the ability to set the table, turn the lamp and the cooking fire on and off, and all the other features. Very creative, well executed mod - thank you for sharing it with us.
I'm sorry, but this is a final release. Even if it wasn't a final release, I like the house being small. It remembers me Gothic 2 and 3 common houses (I'm a fan of the Gothic Saga). Small, cozy and with everything you need. The only things that are missing inside, can be found around the town (forge, alchemic lab, enchanting lab, working bench)
PS: However, it is impossible to make it bigger. The windmill room is small, and there's nothing I can do. When working with exterior buildings, you are always limited. When working with interior cells, you can extend your interior as much as you wish. The problem is I hate loading screens, that' s why I built a completely exterior home.
i do love this inside and hope you make more race based homes but like asked in another comment , why solitude and you do know that windmill is part of the dark brotherhood quest o-O ? add an optional file to move the home to some mountain side some where .
About the choice of Solitude...I will paste the same answer I gave to another user: "You're completely right. Solitude wasn't the best place for a Redguard-oriented house. But I was FORCED to build the house in Solitude, I had no choice. I wanted to use an already existing completely exterior structure (a Redguard-looking custom house exterior doesn't really match with Nordic architecture). That empty Solitude windmill room was the only completely exterior structure...the other cities don't have a building like that."
Yes, I know the windmill is part of the DB quest. I read the explaination of every DB quest (on Uesp site) and, as I can see, the quest doesn't touch the empty room I modded. There's a mission where a guy might patrol the windmill bridge and there's also a mission where you have to escape from the emperor tower by using the windmill bridge. But nothing will happen inside that empty room, because originally it was empty and absolutely inacessible (there are no stairs or ramps and, without console commands, nobody can visit that mysterious room).
There is a modder's resource that you can use to add Solitude towers anywhere, if that's the architecture you'd like. It's called Architectural Mesh Expansion: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38550/?
That's a nice resource, I will keep that in mind, just in case I will create new mods... Thanks Elianora!!! However, the house has been already finished and it will definitely stay in Solitude (it has been built inside of an empty unused room, so I'm sure it will create no problems with the Dark Brotherhood quest.)
Too bad...if I only knew of the existance of that modder's resource, the house could have been somewhere else, maybe near the Hammerfell border (as Skeptical Jocker already suggested)...even if I'd preferred a Redguard exterior architecture. And...let's say I wanted to add an optional file to move the house to somewhere else...in order to do a thing like that, I should rebuild the mod from scratch: Solitude Worlspace has a lot of objects. How can I recognize and select my objects (there are a lot of them) from the hundreds that crawl the object window? Also, I noticed that you can't duplicate group of objects by switching by a worldspace to another: you are forced to manually rebuild them and to make sure they are putted in the same position. Finally, we also have to think about re-linking/re-scripting every activator and every staged group of objects. In poor words, it would be a really complex operation and it would require a lot of time. The original took me out weeks of work, and a duplicate would certainly take more time. I'm really sorry, Mephalem
Amazing, I never thought we can make these with vanilla assets. lol
I tried myself to make a Redguard theme mod, but I could not make the atmosphere like you did in this mod. I noticed that your house contains an Elder Scroll, wow. ^ ^
Yes, I know, that's incredible (for me too), but everything you see is vanilla The .bsa archive only contains the mesh of a shield and a scimitar. They look identical to vanilla ones, but, in order to put them on your back, I was forced to edit one of their properties with the help of Nifskope.
PS: Yes, that's the mesh of an Elder Scroll, but my real intention was only to add a precious parchment near the bookshelf, just for decorative purposes. It looks like an Elder Scroll, but let's say it's not an Elder Scroll xD
