There's actually a few clean savegames (search for "clean save") in the nexus, just downloaded a good one that starts you in Riverwood a couple of days ago.
I'm downloading yours too though, there's value in variety. Cheers.
I can't believe I watched the video till the end. Anyway, what kind of mod would cause the gates to close?
In my experience it usually has something to do with scripting mods, because Helgen is pretty much all script. There are some mods out there that break the game on their own (Animated Prostitution is one of them, I know) and others only break it when combined with other mods. ">
My... um... description for the save needs to be rewritten. There's lots of reasons to skip the Helgen intro, I wrote that while all strung out; had a good nap since then and now I see how stupid it looks. ">
