I had lower fps in the most unrealistic spots with my recently purchased 7870.. This little file here fixed it, for some reason, and overall smoothened the gameplay and fps by a good bunch

Absolutely recommended for ati users !

I'm up to date as well, (at least I'm sure I am) and this still seems to have helped smooth my game out quite a bit. I get a much higher FPS outside and don't seem to get stutters anymore. Even indoor FPS feels a lot smoother, which ran well enough before that I didn't think to complain. I'm enjoying Skyrim a lot more now because of this. Endorsing this, try not to remove it!

lol @ people downvoting the pirate call-out.

Just for reference, this file is no longer needed. All it does is tell your driver that TESV.exe = TEXV.4gb.exe. You should be using the official fix at this stage. Again, it doesn't do anything besides create compatibility between new drivers and the 4GB loader.

I'm considering deleting this to avoid confusion / hurt pirates.

So there have been many patches since this was uploaded. Does this still work or not? And is it compatible with an AMD Radeon HD 6570?

This mod is no longer needed the flag is now set by default in the latest version of Skyrim, now if they could release a 64bit version those of us with 64bit windows 7 would be happy...

Although you should keep your video drivers up to date with both Nvidia and ATI.

For ATI the latest as of 12-30-11
    http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx

For Nvidia the drive is 290.53 as of 12-21-11
    http://www.geforce.com/Drivers/Results/40607
supposedly improves Skyrim performance by as much as 25%

After the new LAA update from Bethesda came out, I can confirm that this file was the reason for yellow horizontal lines and flickering textures.
