Thanks! Spellsongs cast as normal spells, under the Illusion tab. I may reconsider the animation; I agree that using a lute would be more immersive. I've tested "Support Bards," and I haven't found any incompatibility with either Spellsinger or Become a Bard. I wouldn't expect any problems with using all of them together. I note that mechanarwal has graciously given permission to adapt material from Support Bards; but it probably works better as a standalone mod rather than integrating it into Spellsinger. One choice I've made as a constraint on Spellsong bards is that crafting a Spellsong tome uses up a roll of paper; they aren't easy to find, and the number of them in the game is limited. The Support Bards repertoire is large enough it probably needs to stand outside this system.
I really hope you do add casting animations to this... My bard character uses 'Become a Bard', 'Support Bards', and 'Playable Instruments - Play and Bash' I haven't tried this one out yet, but I'm sure it will be a fantastic edition....
I've uploaded a revised version. It corrects an error in the Journal model which may have prevented "in-world" versions from appearing. It also adds new Spellsongs at the high end of the casting range, and incorporates the Optional Casting Sounds.
Thank you very much for your comments! I want to make sure people notice Pevey's "Become a Bard" mod, https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65636 Spellsinger works without it; but Pevey's mod makes a very nice basis for a Bard character.
Why has no one done this before? Not only does it give an actual purpose to the Bard's College, it solves the "false leveling" problem for players that focus on crafting and selling. It even fits the classic RPG bard, since Speechcraft is basically charisma. Not only that, but the Nords are known as poet warriors. This is such an obvious fit that I can't comprehend how it only happened now. Have my kudos.
I can't do the conversion myself, because I don't have Special Edition ... However, I certainly give my permission and encouragement to anyone who is willing to do it. Looking on-line: yes, it should be easy to do if you have Special Edition and the SE Creation Kit. Do the spells cast as normal spells or does the character play an instrument when casting?
Also, would you ever consider integrating the mod "Support Bards" one day? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/92043
