Well, it's more like I couldn't come up with a better way of fitting him in after I started. He most certainly did have the upper hand, at least with his contract to kill Karliah, but the dragon cost him in the end.
Miriel's dream came true it would seem. She should probably avoid using it again for now, we would not want great grandma Miriel fighting dragons now would we?
You are working at an amazing level my friend.
On to the next chapter as I try to get caught up.
The real problem with Nelthas in my story is I never had any really good ideas on how to best use him after I introduced him. A shame really since he is such a badass character but I figured sneaking into Nightingale Hall and fighting three of them would be a fitting end, especially since he might have won if not for the silly dragon talking too much.
Great Works, Wade! This Image ist my absolutly Favorite
The dragons are very hard to kill, twice for a Dragonborn
I think you very nicely solved the "problem" of miriel being the dragonborn and now becoming a nightingale. Nocturnal made a very interesting deal that could go either way,...
Nelthas, cunning as he may be, did underestimate the powers of the dragonborn and payed the price for doing so,.. .
I must say that miriel has groen into quite the enchanting young lady. I think though it is a shout that should be used with care,..
Nelthas probably had no idea who Miriel was. He did make the mistake of hubris by fighting all three of them at once, even though he would have fulfilled his contract and killed Karliah had Miriel not defeated Sahloknir.
Miriel will still be a 16 year old in mind and heart even though she now looks older than her mother and is the same height as Auriella (1.06 on the setscale in console where she used to be .95). We will see if the Shout would repeat what happened or if it is a one time thing.
Thanks for reading and welcome back from the vacation
I wonder, what happened with Miriel....Fantastic teasing end of this chapter. The older Miriel looks very beautiful
Thank you for entertainment in the best form
It was an opposite reaction with Miriel. She almost stopped time with the Shout (helped by the death of the dragon soul) and this caused time for her to speed up a lot, causing the aging. She also had the dream previously with the first dragon soul about this happening at some point, and Auriella also saw it with the Elder Scroll.
Hard to say if this is only temporary or forever, I suppose we will see because I have not actually decided yet myself
Entire story was well done and a pleasure to read - took my mind of problems in life as well as games. Liked how you handled Stan returning to the city a lot. Upheaval all the way around as Maven is dead, many guards fled, the traitor captured and perhaps the Jarl free to act on her own (if she knows how). Be nice if Stan can return now. Also very happy with how you explained the guild descended to petty crime like bandits versus the more adventuresome and swashbuckling idea of how I see them - thieves for the challenge and thrill more than anything.
Then the wonderful adventure inside the NH (was curious to see how you did this after seeing how Alexi/Kami did it with Edrelle and how I handled it with Grim in his story). Nocturnal was handled well and wasn't sure what all that was about with Mom until you mentioned Akatosh having priority over the soul (always a question there - I mean you bind your soul to Hircine, Nocturnal, and probably others but in then end Akatosh has first dibs ... wonder what might make him break his contract as it were). Interesting how Ellandra accepted the offer with gusto in a way. Perhaps she feels she needs to keep up with her daughter or at least events going on.
Then the big surprise with Nelthas (and I must say that armor - no idea what it was but damn but it suited him fine and he looked incredibly nice in it - very dark and sexy, like how batmans armor hugs his form). Great way to handle the fight and have it all seem lost (for all I knew you would have just killed Karliah) until bamn - Miriel gets her break and whips his ass. Also interesting way to have her age. I liked it although does mean she may need to be careful using it again.
Wonderful images and they went very well with the story as did your expressions. They can take a while to figure out I find but practice makes it easier.
The upheaval in Riften certainly would seem to benefit Stan, something he needs after being tossed around by fate quite a lot. Still understandably distrusting by wanting an official pardon but that should come. The Guild was very much acting like a bunch of well funded bandits that were also way to visible to the public rather than acting in secret.
Nocturnal did have backup plans that were different from the vanilla contract to become a Nightingale. With Miriel's soul I pretty much just went with Akatosh coming first as she was presumably given the dragon soul at birth and Nocturnal is second in line. It seemed to also be the consensus that Nocturnal was the first Daedric Prince so she would have dibs over the others. I think you only really offer your soul to either Nocturnal, Hirsine, or Molag Bal and the rest of them you just do quests for without aligning yourself to them.
Ellandra was pretty up front with her willingness to accept the terms to take both her and Miriel's contract if it came to it. She has been wanting to get stronger to help out more than she already does. Not sure if any of those new abilities help fighting dragons or not but other mortal enemies should be worried.
Nelthas was quite determined to get his own contract done. The armor is the Shadowscale option of the Black Sacrament armor mod, and I agree that it looked quite good on him. They all got lucky as the dragon soul said the wrong thing and unlocked the shout for Miriel. I like to think that some laws of Physics still apply to fantasy worlds so using a shout that almost stops time around you could have the effect of aging yourself to compensate. Whether or not that was just the one time with the added force of the dragon dying, she will be hesitant to try that again until speaking with the Greybeards or when until meets Paarthunax.
Thanks for checking out the latest chapter!
Enjoy the holiday
Thank you very much
