At the end of the last chapter Lorkhan asked Grim if he would accept a joining, to which he said yes. As mentioned in the text above the images the shots take place right after that. You can see Neloth is wounded, from being hit in the head, behind the altar (Talvas is standing next to him about to help him up). Grim accepted the joining and merged with Lorkhan - so that figure is Grim-Lorkhan, or more accurately Lorkhan's avatar. Hence why the image shows Grim-Lorkhan floating as he comes off the altar and faces Avrein. The second shot shows him facing Erik with Wolfgar off to the side.
His benevolence tends to depend on the viewpoint of the race (as the Altmer consider him a demon who destroyed their immortality). Mortals (humans) like him though which is why he is often called the God of Mortals. He is of chaos though - he is the more personal version of Padomay and Sithis as the line is Padomay -> Sithis -> Lorkhan. Padomay is an idea, Sithis is the force of that idea, and Lorkhan is the personification of that force - the sentient and aware God.
The All-maker doesn't really exist in the imperial lore - he is like a separate religion of the Skaal. That being said I think he is akin to either Anu or, most likely, the Dreamer. Arubis (Universe) is the dream of a god. Based on what the Skaal say about the All-maker it would fit that he might be that god.
Sorry I really enjoy the lore although I never stick to it 100% as I think that is restrictive. I like it as a base, to provide a logical foundation to my writing, but I will twist it to fit my own story.
The main takeaway is that Lorkhan is very powerful - third down in the godly food chain as it were. Course he is somewhat "dead" - his heart lost now (happened at end of Morrowind game) and his body became the two moons. Yet his spirit is still around which is why he needs an avatar to appear (hence his need for Grim) and act through.
I better stop before I write another book :p
Anyhow some good descriptions of the Anu->Anuiel->Au-riel and Padomay->Sithis-Lorkhan check out this thread:

In general Anu/Anuiel and Padomay/Sithis are principles and ideas. It is Auriel and Lorkhan that demonstrate sapient consciousness.I like this summary best by SkoomaMudcrab:
Well I guess one last post. I wasn't going to mention it but maybe it would be useful. I will bite my virtual tongue and not get into the Earth Bones (of which Fenrir's body was partially constructed) and stay focused on why gods have different names or aspects. I am paraphrasing so this won't be 100% exact but should give the idea.
There is a force in the elder scrolls called "mythopoeia." Basically it is the idea that the belief of people shape the gods. This comes into play with the divines and Lorkhan.
When the Aedra who died to create Nirn their bodies (corpses) became planets. People worship these "dead" gods. Different races have different ideas of what those gods are.
Akatosh is an exmaple. Akatosh is the Imperial Aspect of Auri-El, the Dragon of Time. But the Altmer see him as something else entirely. Lorkhan is known as Shor by the Nords - that is the Nord Aspect of Lorkhan. Lorkhan has many aspects as he is the only God that exists for all races in all cultures (he is the cool god). Kynareth is another as she is known as Kyne by the Nords.
Anyhow that is how they explain the different aspects of the same god. Ever here that story about the blind men and the Elephant? A bunch of blind men tried to figure out what an elephant was. One touched the tail and thought it was a rope. One might touch the foot and think it was a tree. But it is all the same elephant. So Gods have different aspects yet can still be all the same god. Although I saw on the thread there is still a lot of debate on the whole subject

Okay enough lore I need to get back to writing as I am almost done part 1 of Ch 26.
I'd like to raise the hat for your music choice in this set,.. very fitting and i like that piano theme,.. it's soothing for my brain,...
I am not an artist and my shots are pretty basic. It is the writing and the stories that I enjoy doing - the images just help illustrate them and unless I am tweaking an ENB or highlighting a mod most of images will have some relation to my stories.
The music - one of my all time favorites.
Great set
We're all emotional creatures, because that's what makes us human.
Bravo on this set for Manly Monday, superb work my friend.
