Not sure why, but my game breaks after installing this. Extracted the oMOD to my desktop, clicked it, chose an option from OBMM (superbright) and started up my game, only for it to CTD immediately. Uninstalling it doesn't fix it. The only other mods I was using was OR, OCO2, the Unofficial Patches and Oblivion Grass Overhaul. Only way to get anything running back to normal is with a total reinstallation of the game and the mods I was using.
Does anybody know of an alternative to this mod? Like the effect, but not so keen on my game breaking.
A Warning to those installing the mod (especially if you followed the Bevilex guide). If you are suffering from an CTD to desktop, make sure you redownload the official shaders back into the shaders folder. it can be found on the nexus. (Thanks to 1Mac for suggesting this). The menu will be brought up but will crash when loading an old save or a new game. To bypass this, open OBMM and click on Archive Invalidation. Im not sure if the BSA Redirection, Invalidation or Alteration was the solution but I clicked on them and they seem to have solved the CTD.
You will be glad you did not reinstall! Happy gaming!
Crashed for me as well. Using OBMM Archive Invalidation didn't fix it. I deleted the mod. Fortunately, I copied the entire Shader folder before installing this mod...
Pity it failed. I used this mod succesfully in the past, but alas, no more...
After much trial and error, I managed to get this mod working with Oblivion Reloaded. This is how you do it:
You'll need the latest Oblivion Reloaded version and as the description suggests Oblivion Mod Manager 0.9 or higher.
-First download the file manually. -Pop it into the obmm/mods folder in the Oblivion directory. -Open OBMM and find "Nighteye shader Replacement 1.1", right-click it and select extract to folder. Extract it to a temporary folder of your choosing. -Navigate to the folder where you extracted the omod, inside the Nighteye shader Replacement folder should be all the nighteye effects with their respective names, pick the one you want and rename it to NIGHTEYE000 and copy it over to the Data/Shaders/OblivionReloaded/NightEye folder. Replace the old file. -Navigate to the Data/OBSE/Plugins folder and edit the OblivionReloaded config file. Look for the NightEye setting under [Shaders] and change it from 0 to 1.
Now when you launch the game it should have the new effect! Hopefully it works out for you as this has worked for me! Happy adventuring!
OH! And to be clear, I've only managed to get this to work the edgedetect shader! Still trying to figure out the rest or if there's a particular thing I gotta do to use the others. Whenever I try to switch from that one to a different one, it crashes at startup.
EDIT: The sin shader functions as well. Seeing a connection here. Gonna check additional options.
"Yeah, it's not working for VeryBright or SuperBright "
I think that has something to do with the hlsl files, which more or less force the color layer on. I'm trying to find a way to write the instruction in such a way as to make it invisible, but so far, no luck.
That or the verybright and superbright files are corrupt, since they've always caused CTDs whenever I've tried to install them through the Oblivion Mod Manager.
Well I figured out part of the mystery. It *is* dependent on how OR reads the night eye shaders which in turn depends on how they were compiled. A look at these files through a hex editor revealed that every file that *didn't* cause an instant crash with OR installed had the same same set of code, which when decrypted revealed the pixel shader version as well as the D3DX9 shader compiler version. Apparently OblivionReloaded looks for this code or something along these lines when reading the shaders, and if it doesn't find it, problems happen. Based on this, only five pso's from this mod will work with OR installed:
circularexpand edgedetect expand1 expand2 sin
As an experiment, I copied the shader compiler tag code onto the superbright pso to see if I could get it to work. No such luck, I just got a giant white box over the whole screen when Night Eye was activated, however, it *did* stop the crashes. Small progress, but I'll keep tinkering and see if I figure this out.
On the other hand, if anyone knows how to properly reconfigure the rest of these pso's into an OR-readable format, that would be great.
Glad this work around method for OR atleast works for the "edgedetect shader".. that one looks the best anyway ;) ....but anything other then the vanilla bright blue is an improvement.
I was wondering, "Will this work on Oblivion Reloaded?". Then I saw that one of the images has "with Oblivion Reloaded" on them, so I figured it was fine. I put it up as an OMOD.
It causes the game to crash on startup.
So I remove the mod. The game still crashes on startup.
I tried to use edgedetect alongside oblivion reloaded as described by @Lorddae, extracted edgedetect.pso from omod file, moved it in Data/Shaders/OblivionReloaded/NightEye/NIGHTEYE000.pso. Game is not crashing, but when I use night eye, my screen just becoming blue with very illegible silhouettes. I'm using oblivion reloaded light 3.6 with monkey ENB. I tried to remove ENB and disable all Shaders and Effects flags in OblivionReloaded.ini except for NightEye shader with no success. I absolutely love this mod and I think it is must have mod for my compilation. If anyone could help me with my problem, or give some advices, I'll be very thankful.
There is a post below made on the 5th April that explains how to make this work with Oblivion Reloaded. It was put up by Lorddae and I think that it should help with your problem. This is why I always suggest reading the first few pages of the comments section before using a mod. Good luck.
I read Lorddae's post before installing and did everything exactly the same way, as I described in comment above. However, I have this problem. I thought it somehow conflicts with one of OR's shaders or effects, but after turning off all effects and shaders in OblivionReloaded.ini the problem still present.
I have never used Oblivion Reloaded so I am sorry to say that I cannot beyond my earlier suggestion. I do hope that an expert spots your question or maybe you could go to the OR website and ask there. Good luck
Thanks a lot for your advice! I asked my question on OR's technical support forum(https://tesreloaded.com/thread/2224/custom-night-eye-shaders), will be waiting for response.
Old forum was moved to a new link. I found my thread here (https://tesreloaded.boards.net/thread/2224/custom-night-eye-shaders). There is an answer, but it's not really helpful.
Just use OBMM ( https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/2097 ), very easy installation. It's useful because many other popular mods (such as Darnified UI) use the .omod file.
Would have been perfect if very bright and super bright was toned down a bit, i can still bear very bright, but in some places where there are vast amounts of fog and light rays, its very blinding and straining on the eyes! There are no other mods that have color version of night eye, that dont require other mods to work or work at all!
I'm afraid the only version available is an .omod. Whether you want to try unpacking the omod file with OBMM or just use OBMM to install it..... you can't get around installing it without using OBMM.
That is kinda the problem. I did finally end up installing OBMM to unpack this, but it randomly deactivated most of my mods in my load order upon starting, as it did years ago when I last used it, which is why I didn't want to use it in the first place. Took quite a while to sift through my mod list again with Wrye Bash and activate precisely the mods that were active on my current playthrough. I don't know why it needs to do this, but apparently creating extra hassle for the user is good design.
I currently have both Wrye Bash and OBMM installed, I used Wrye Bash for 99.9% of my mods and OBMM for a few mods that ONLY come in the OMOD format. However, I have never had the problem of OBMM deactivating mods in my Wrye Bash load order before.....
Worked great. When you install and start the game, it lets you choose which way you want night eye to look. This is a huge improvement over the vanilla version.

What the hell, man?

Is there a way to make this work with Wrye Bash?
Or switch to MO2. MO2 has omod compatibility.
Thanks, Sensei!
