I got this to work by adding it to the menus80 folder, as an Omod.
If you have Steam, a lot of texture or mesh replacers will only work if you make them into an Omod. (At least for me)
My hypothesis is that OBMM only redirects the BSA files for active omods, and the Archive invalidation change to the Oblivion.ini file does nothing for the Steam version.
nice mod, another added to the list of ultimate realism, you are right, they did have maps back then but they had no indication of where they are, this is just like holding a real map in your face.
Isn't this more or less completely defeated by the fact that when you open the map, the would-be GPS marker is in the exact center of the screen? Even if you can't see the actual marker, you still know where it is. You may not be able to change that and in that case, i guess this is as good as it gets, its still a pretty cool mod, but what would have been really nice would be a map that remembers what you were looking at the last time you used it.
Good idea! With fast travel disabled and no compass, the game imersion goes up a notch. Geting lost in the woods is not such a bad thing... makes you pay more attention to your surroundings.
Thanks for the mod. Should combine all of these small mods into one mod for convinience.
