Though I love SI, I like the idea of this mod. Simply because at the end of the main quest in SI, I feel like as Sheogorath, I should have the ability to remove the strange door whenever I feel like it.
Like this mod. Never was all that impressed with SI and tired of seeing that ugly island as well. A navigational hazard for my boat mod too. Thanx and endorsed!
You will find it hard to find people who agree with you. Your mod is not required as someone has already done the same thing in effect for all of the dlcs.
This is not a BAD idea actually, although (like boerner) I like the SI expansion.
I believe SI has a limit to the level you need to be to go thier?
Perhaps another way of handling the SI expansion is to make it NOT appear (along with the rumor) until you've reached the islands minimum level (just like Deadric quests aren't triggerable until you reach a certain level in this case the island CAN'T appear until you are high enough of a level to go to the island). That could leverage the spell to make it "go away". Then add the rumor when the character enters a town after they reach that level.
I got the GOTY version of ES4 and when I started the rumor for this appeared, It confused me as to what it was ( and of course I went to see what it was at to low of a level). ES5 has an odd way of doing that with "Boethia's calling" by having you attacked by a dark elf automatically as soon as you reach level 30. Perhaps a similiar (but not as blatently scripted) to announce the SI being available when you reach the minimum level?
As I said not a bad idea. Sorry you don't like the SI, however I liked them, if fact some of the most beautiful scenary in Oblivion I think is in SI. That's just how I see it in any case. The entrance to SI etc. is a bit... awkward?
I respect your opinion but I think you're not going to find a lot of agreement here with your description of the Shivering Isles. Just try it it's really fun, have you ever played Morrowind? Anyway, this seems like a neat idea even for those who like Shivering Isles, that island is a little annoying to look at all the time.
I have played Morrowind and I know it well and I liked everything but Sheogorad and Azura Coast. I find Ascadian Isles okay not my favorite regions like Ashlands, Molag Amur and West Gash. But I made the mod for myself and thought I would share it to others.
