It does hide the helmet, but it does not contribute to armor rating while hidden. No idea why. Hidden helmet = 36 AR total, not hidden helmet = 38 AR total.
One thing to be aware of is that if you equip another helm without removing a hidden helm first, the hidden helm will be lost forever. Not good. :(
It might only trigger if the new helm has special behavior, like the Bloodworm Helm, but both that and Cowl of the Druid have cost me my "normal" helm. It's probably just the Steam version of Oblivion or the newer OBSE that messed it up rather than the mod itself, but I figured it was worth giving the warning. additem saved me, but you should know how to use that to recover if you use this mod. Aside from that and the "rename goes here" bug this does work: you just need to be careful with it.

So I installed No Helmet as an alternative.

Anyway to make all vanilla helms in the game hide? There's one in skyrim, but can't seem to find one in oblivion.
