I installed this mod using WB as many other mods. The saddle appeared in store (The script which makes it appear in store works fine. Since i turn on text debug to see script running background). But when i put it the the horse. It said Saddlebag = 0; Saddleless = 0. Has the option to remove, but didn't have any option to open inventory, the saddle overwrote the horse saddle but the bag didn't appear.

Sorry for whining, I managed to fix the promblem. This mod conflict with other resource pack that adds bag and saddle on horse. I re-order then it works great. Kudo to MaboroshiDaikon.

    I can't leave Saddlebag cell.
    The doors wouldn't open.
It is any way to override this annoying bug?

      What should work:
      1. Enter console mode (hit tylde key ~)
      2. Click on the locked door.
      3. Type: unlock
      4. Hit enter key.
      5. Exit console mode.

This mod works perfectly well with no fuss. Just load the file with Bain and rebuild the bash patch, in exactly the same as all other properly packaged mods. If you aren't using Bain and a bash patch, you should be. Thoronir (Copious Coinpurse sells saddlebags and they work first time on a horse (even if you don't own it). Click on the saddlebag in your inventory, then type O to put things in it or take them out. I am running it with Command Mounts and Horses, using the load order set by BOSS (which you should be using too).

This mod works perfectly with a whole lot of fuss for NMM users. NMM gives an error upon starting after having downloaded the mod because of the OMOD conversion folder which is improperly packed for NMM.

Now you can say, well, learn to use BAIN/Wrye Bash. I answer that NMM was developed to avoid all that. Granted, NMM didn't exist when this mod was uploaded, but adding a version that has the exact same folder structure as the game wouldn't hurt anyone. Has nothing to do with entitlement but with ease of use and common sense.

Stop using NMM, it's crap for... ...every single game literally. Just stop it. Install your mods by Wrye Bash, OBMM or by hand if you don't want to use a working mod manager, just please, for the embracing love of all gods of all religions, please, don't use NMM.

NMM prolly works for skyrim I heard. That's the entire list. Then again, I wouldn't say that's a good reason to ever touch NMM.

Nmm works fine if the mods aren't a convoluted mess and slopped out.  All this bash patch crap is ridiculous.
My SSE build is awesome with NMM, so is my FO4 but, then again ... the mod authors for Skyrim don't just slop out convoluted mods that take a professional modder to install (for the most part).  I'm new to Oblivion and just started my build, the game itself is crap to build a decent looking and running game, especially with these hack mods that need patch after patch after patch, etc.... quality mods here are almost nonexistent.
The community that has kept NMM running are excellent (imo) and the updates just keep coming, almost to a frustrating level (I launch it and have to wait for another update).  And I do donate to GOOD mod authors.  That won't be happening on 95% of the mods for Oblivion.  Modding this game has been a nightmare.  Thank you JimmyRJump for your common sense, I've seen your support in posts on here a lot.

Is there a way how to open the saddle bag without having to go to the horse over and over? Like remote open? I seem to remember something like that way back when. Thx D13

For anyone who can't get the saddlebags to show up in stores, try installing the MD Saddlebags Alternative Trader Script.

    Way I got it working:

    1. Manually download the 'MD Saddlebags 3 RC1' version dated 7 September 2008. Do NOT download the MD Saddle Bags v2.6 rc2 version higher up the Files page.

    2. Unzip download and manually install from that 'MD Saddlebags 3 RC1-2008' folder the following:

    3. Copy MD Saddlebags v3.0.esp > Oblivion/Data folder (Steam version the default path is C: Program Files (x86)Steam/SteamApps/common/Oblivion/Data)

    4. Copy MD_Saddle_Master.esm > Oblivion/Data folder.

    5. Copy meshes/clutter/ALL .nif files > Oblivion/Data/Meshes/Clutter folder.

    6. Copy meshes/creatures/horse folder > Oblivion/Data/Meshes/Creatures folder.

    7. Copy textures/creatures/horse folder > Oblivion/Data/Textures/Creatures folder.

    8. Copy textures/menus/icons/MD folder > Oblivion/Data/Menus/Icons folder.

    9. Run Oblivion, press the Data Files button and enable the MD_Saddle_Master.esm & MD Saddlebags v3.0.esp files.

If all the folders/ files were installed correctly and enabled then when you open the Barter dialogue with the merchant there will be various saddle items in the Misc. section to purchase. I can confirm that they can be found at least from General Merchants as indicated such as:

Thoronir, Merchant in 'The Copious Coinpurse, Market District, Imperial City

    also;

Borba gra-Uzgash, Merchant in 'Borba's Goods and Stores', Cheydinhal.

Purchase which saddlebag you prefer then ensure you stand close (i.e. within touching distance) to your horse and click the saddlebag item found in your Inventory under 'Misc'. Then you target the horse and click 'O' and the saddlebag opens.

Note: I did also use BOSS after manually installing the files to order the .esp/.esm files. I am not sure if this is necessary but helps avoid order issues (or whichever methos you prefer)

      Agree, cannot recommend this mod.

While the "Release Candidate" or "RC" version of this mod (further down the downloads page, other files are earlier betas...look at file dates people!) installed fine via Wrye, and I saw saddlebags right away in Chorrol merchant, when bags attached to horse and "O" pressed to access bags (which also worked to transfer objects), the game turned into a slide show, literally 1-2 fps and no action can escape the quagmire...

I suspect there is some scripting error or conflict, and I could be arsed to find it. Going to try 'Horse Commands' that has saddle bags, but too bad, it contains more scripts than I want...

Ok I have a problem. I have successfully added the mod Oblivion, I purchased the saddle, and I added the saddle to my horse. But now when I press the "O" key the only options I get are remove saddle or nothing. How do I interact with the saddle to store items?

IIRC just by activating it, like you do with any other items, like chests.

alright the problem was that I bought a saddle without bags. However recently I got the mod to work, I could interact with the bags and store items, but all of a sudden whenever i go to my horse I press "O" click on open saddle bags and nothing happens except a message in the top left of my screen saying "Activate Saddle Bags" no matter how many times try to open the bags that is all I get. Any suggestions

This is similar to the issue I'm currently having. I point my cursor at the horse, press "O," and get a dialog box asking me if I want to "remove saddlebags" or "nothing." :/

Edit: Never mind. Turns out all I had to do was quit and then relaunch the game. I assume you would have already tried that...lol

Have you tried fast traveling to your current location? Have you tried removing and replacing the saddlebags?

I've been using this mod for a while and it works great, and for the most part looks so amazing! But there's one small issue, and that's this weird brown...thing on my horse's back when I put the saddlebags on. It looks a bit like a saddle horn, but it looks sort of "cell shaded" or something? Like it's missing a texture, I guess. It really doesn't fit with the rest of the look of the saddlebags, which are so detailed and beautiful. Not sure what could be causing this or how to go about trying to fix it. :/ The saddlebags still work, but this one detail of the look is so off-putting.

Edit: Upon closer inspection of the screenshots provided here (especially the third one), it seems that brown blob thing is actually part of the mod as intended, so I guess I didn't manage to download/install it incorrectly. Still looks pretty bad in game, though.

I don't understand why so many people are complaining. I looked at the instructions that loonamoonraker gave here in the comments, but guessed that since they just described the way you usually install mods, I figured I would test installing it using Nexus Mod Manager.

This is the way I did it, which worked immediately:

    1. Manually download 'MD Saddlebag 3 RC1' (2008).

    2. Unzip the files to a folder. Then I deleted the folder 'omod conversion data' that followed with the other unzipped files.

    3. Thereafter I selected ALL the remaining unzipped files, which would be:
    'MD Saddlebags Beta_readme.rtf'
    'MD Saddlebags v3.0.esp'
    'MD_Saddle_Master.esm'

And then the folders 'meshes' and 'textures'.

That would be 5 items in total, selected.

    4. Right click while you have those 5 items selected and click 'add to archive'. I chose zip and named the archive 'MD Saddlebags 3 - 2008', just so that it would be easy to find later in NMM. Press 'Ok'.

    5. Open NMM and go to the 'Mods' tab. Hit that big green plus sign to the left and select the newly saved archive you made in step 4 and hit 'Open'.

    6. Find the mod in the 'Mods' tab named 'MD Saddlebags 3 - 2008', or whatever name you gave the archive. Select it, hit that big green checkmark to the left, and there you go. You have just installed the MD Saddlebags mod.

The reason I prefer to do it this way is so that it's easy to uninstall later if I ever desire to do that. Then you just go to the 'Mods' tab again and hit the big red circle with the line inside of it, rather than having to search for all the different files related to this mod inside of the Oblivion\Data folder.
