It should be possible the way w/o clipping since I've seen some vampires have iron cuirass under a gray robe.

Just did a quick test with making it so no bipod objects was assigned for one particular cloak to use. and it did as i assumed. The editor warned me about the no assigned bipod thing, but it went ahead anyway.

    Equipable yes...
Gained mods from said robe yes...
Visually unfortunally nothing, not a thing.

This could be used for clothes underneath, but you could come to the same problem the original mod gave off, half nekid npc's running around, unless you made it specific instead of all clothing for upper and lower body.

I'd say it could work, but the tricky thing is, this would most likely only work on looted/bought clothing, that you specifically told the CS kit to remove it's assigned slots. As from what i can tell, it becomes a completely seperate and unique object once you enchant an object, thus would not be found in the CS kit to modify.

Even if it was possible that it remembers that it was a certain model of clothing, and you tracked down it in the CS kit, it would lead to nekid npc again.

I might get round to making a mod to make all pre-existing enchanted robes to take up the tail slot, and have all pre-existing enchanted upper and lower body clothing removed of their assigned slots, thus becoming equipable but invisible.

This also could easily be cheated to stack tons and tons of no bipod object assigned items together, nothing stops you with this done, this way. Which i'm not too fond of releasing, I just want it nearer to what it was like in morrowind, with the layers of clothing/armour/cloaks etc. I'll have to have a crack at learning the script language, to see if i can prevent that.

Since you figured out how to make it possible, could you create a seperate mod to allow you to wear regular clothing under your armor. That's one of the most annoying things in the game right now, the fact you can't wear regular clothes under armor; it would be rather unconfortable. I guess the issue though if for constant effect gear, since in morrowind you could have constant effect health regen under your armor, making you nearly invincible. If there was some way to disable all but unique clothing items, that would balance out the game, or make enchanting with regen health CE really expensive (but not astronomical).

    Thoughts?

To answer your question, atm it might be possible i'll have to do some testing.

I'm a relatively nooblet with the CS kit but, from what i see is that the game uses what they call in the CS kit 'Bipod Objects' when it comes to the Slots each and every equipable item takes up. For example, the default for most robes is to take up Upperbody, lowerbody (a few take up foot and hand slots aswell). As far as i can tell this is mostly a visual thing.

Unless theres a way add 'bipod objects' nothing would show up visually as far as i know, if you were to make clothing be wearable under armour/robes.

IF it has no selected 'bipod object' bound to an item, technically i could still be equiped, I've not tested this yet, but i certainly will, but i can tell you now, if it did equip and did add mods if it has any, i highly doubt it would visually be represented on your character and/or npc around using the same item.

Thats how the mod works, it applies the cloaks to one of these 'Bipod Objects' not currently in use by something else... in this case the tail 'Bipod object' which only those with tails will find themselves missing a tail.
