do you have photoshop? try matching the textures with the base meshes a little better. the gold looks good, but the others have some spots on them that do not match the material texture. all in all an ok start,
it really is what you say, with the exception that the txts look good on the swords, nice you're playing with the tools and i believe you'd be glad to see the feedback to see your progress. i myself like many other players really like to see new models and you can achieve that even with minor tasteful modifying meshes of existing ones so go ahead and try
