Whenever I go near "Ancient Towers" it has a bunch of WTF Missing Meshes. And clicking on the Monters there causes an instant CTD. Any help would be appreciated because I have to totally avoid that area for now.

That doesn't sound related to Hoarfrost Castle; did you mean to post that on the Ancient Towers Nexus page?

I might have. I thought for sure it was related to this mod. I clicked on the missing mesh and it pointed to this one.
Update: Just checked and never have downloaded that one. And according to my Load Order, it is pointing to this one.
Update2: I am using HoarFrost Update - 7hr08ik. Could that be where the said mesh is coming from?

I've never had a report of anything like that before, as far as I can remember; so it's most likely not due to Hoarfrost Castle.

It's been a long time, but from memory, that other version of the mod you mention ("HoarFrost Update - 7hr08ik") is a stolen version of my mod. It was altered and re-uploaded without my permission. If it's the one I'm thinking of, I wasn't aware it existed until it had been up for a fair while, and I did report it (however many years ago that was), but it wasn't removed. Probably no surprise to see that the user who uploaded it has been banned at some point in the time since.

If you're using that one (and as you might expect, I wouldn't recommend it), it means you're not using my original version of Hoarfrost Castle at all, because they altered and re-uploaded the whole thing.

I have always used your original since I loved that mod. When I saw a new version of it come along, thinking it was authorized by you, I excitedly downloaded it. However, it is a mess up from the get-go. While it does introduce some new places and quests, it causes more trouble than its worth. PLUS deactivating it and re-activating your original mod causes the quest to reset. I lost over five hours of gameplay because of that. Live and learn. LMAO!

I was hoping you could help me with a stuck quest?

Today i was at the point in the Hoarfrost Castle quest line where i needed to recruit a blacksmith, priest and a mage.

Took all three quests at once and concluded them, except for the one called "Fiery Devotion" because i'm blocked at the last part where you need to inform Ignatius that the priest has been recruited.  There is simply no dialogue option popping up except for Rumors when i talk to him.

Is it possible to use console commands to finish that quest?  Or am i simply overlooking something?

It's been a very long time since I made Hoarfrost Castle of course, so I don't remember exactly how that part is put together. Definitely not a common bug report though; can't remember if I've ever had someone report that before.

I also don't have Oblivion installed at the moment so I can't go check the quest stages myself, but you should be able to look at the quest in xEdit and match up the quest stages in there to your current journal entry for that quest, then use setstage to set the next stage. (Or maybe try what should be the current stage first, just to see.)

Ooh, i would never would have thought of using TES4Edit for that, it's going to be so useful for other games too.  Thanks!  I will do as you say.

That was the only "wrinkle" i encountered too, which is amazing for a mod of this size.

No worries, it did, i finished the quest for the castle a few hours ago.  Right now, i'm busy transferring all my gear from the  Imperial City Shack and Frostcrag Spire to my new home.  I got some fast traveling to do.

Now that it's over i can say that Hoarfrost Castle deserved every endorsement and download it got.  What a great, high-quality adventure it was with great locales and memorable npcs.  Apart from that one wrinkle i mentioned it was a very stable experience too, no crashes or freezes.

I usually don't play quest mods because i prefer mods that take you to foreign places like New lands mods.  But after this experience i'm going to browse the Quest section of Nexus to find more gems like this one.

Cheers and thanks again for sharing the mod!

Oh good - and thanks, glad you enjoyed it.

In terms of other popular quest mods, I do remember enjoying Gates to Aesgaard and The Lost Spires. I mean I think I enjoyed them? It's been ~15 years. Parts of them stuck in my mind, at least. There are other quest mods there that the Nexus says I downloaded that I don't remember at all.

I'll be happy to leave that run down shack at the Waterfront for an abode more suitable for my character's current social status.

Just one question though, what level should i be before i tackle the quest?  I'm currently level 10.

Oof, it's been a while. It may depend on how you've built your character and on what mods you're using, but level 10 would probably be fine.

It wasn't intended as a hardcore combat-focussed experience, but there are certain enemy types in certain places for story/setting reasons that really baby characters may struggle with.

Really if you just approach it as you would a regular part of the game, it should be fine.

I think i'll be fine then because my character has followed a training so harsh it would make Goku think twice, lol.

Thank you, it's very rare but so wholesome to have an author support his mod like that even after so many years.

First of all, fantastic mod.  Not over the top and/or "grand" the way a lot of mods get, but very nicely finished (important!) without too heavy a footprint.

One very minor quib (that may not even be related to the mod but maybe some sort of glitch somewhere else) is that the red velvet blouse in the new NPC's quarters at the Anvil Castle Pvt Qtrs gets weirdly "stretched" (normally associated with bad mesh/skeleton, but this is just a stock clothing item!).  Has anyone come across this?  For the record, deleting the item and replacing it with a "new" set of same clothing gets rid of the problem, but that was weird.....

Thanks; it's always cool to hear when people are still enjoying something I made so long ago.

I'm pretty sure Hoarfrost Castle doesn't do anything to vanilla clothing items - no need to - so that's probably due to some other mod or random issue.

My quest seems to be stuck.
I took ownership of the castle and am supposed to do the first quest. Steward told me to talk to Inwold Manick at his farm, but when I do, all he says is that he wants to be left alone. Nothing else happens with him, nor the steward.

Also, no idea if that's related, but for some reason in Mannick's house was a Spriggan.

Btw, I have no remaining indication or reminder of that quest. I only know what to do because I remembered it from dialogue. Quest log marks Hoarfrost
Castle questline as completed with same description, which it had after obtaining the castle.

Did anyone else encounter such a bug?
Can someone tell me what should be happening at that stage?
    Am I missing something?

That's unfortunate - though it's been 13-14 years (ouch) and I don't think anyone's reported that before, so it's probably something specific to your game.

I think I remember someone mentioning that they ran into problems when they used console commands to skip things (e.g. one to teleport to quest target), so that's something to avoid.

I certainly didn't put a spriggan inside Mannick's house. Could be some kind of conflict or mod interaction?

Beyond that I can't be much help, I'm afraid. You might need to load an earlier save and try again.

It's been too long and I am not sure that the mod creator will see this, there is a bug that LOD is not disappearing near the farm where I should go to save farmer's wife.

It is not a big deal but looks little bit annoying... it disappears when I turn off distant land from option but I can;t play like that since I become almost blind...
Have anyone know how to deal with it?

I don't think I've had a report of that before, so it's probably something like a conflict with another mod editing terrain in the same area.

Also coming to add my nostalgia to this mod! I remember it was my home of choice back in 2009-2010. Now I got a newer, powerful PC that can play at 2k texture backs, run an ENB, Oblivion Reloaded, I know how to work Wrye Bash, troubleshoot incompatibilities, and all sorts of things. So 2009 me would be insanely jealous of how I can play Oblivion now.

Downloaded it to take a look around and everything, but I might not be using it for my next serious go-around unfortunately since I'm going to be playing a dickheaded assassin (Since I wrapped up a Skyrim LE run as a goodie Paladin type) and I doubt an assassin/thief would want a castle. BUT if I need a castle for a character I know my first choice.

I don't know, I think thieves in particular - generally known for their desire to have more things - might be pretty keen to get their hands on a castle.

"My own castle? Now I've got it made!"
