Good horror mod. You have to go down through several levels of basement to a crypt. Clever traps. Good fights. Good visuals. Great sound effects with triggers. He played fair throughout the loose quest. My only dislikes were that it used the "chase the key" approach (must find hidden key to progress to next level) on every level and that the loose quest didn't have much of a resolution. After I killed the big boss, the ghosts of the dead family were still there. It would have made a more satisfying ending if their ghosts were released.

This is a pretty alright mod. Sure didn't take me two hours to finish though, that's for sure. After slaughtering my way to the basement, and murdering the Pumpkin Knight and taking her sword, I got stuck. There was no switch anywhere to open the secret door. I had to finally use the tcl command to go through the secret door, and then flip the switch on that side to open it. As far as I could see, it was the only switch there, and seems like it was accidentally placed on the wrong side.

The constant noises were mediocre, as they just kept repeating all throughout the mod, and got old fast. Pro tip; don't overuse something, it gets old fast. Upon entering the house, I immediately had to roll my eyes at all the excessive corpses and blood. That's not scary, doesn't lend to the atmosphere, and doesn't make a haunted house. The final bedroom you enter at the end just doesn't make much sense. There's nothing in there and all the empty containers just feels like a middle finger to the player, who worked to get there. It doesn't make sense for it to be used by the player either.

The heart out front is just irritating. You'd expect there to be a way to destroy it, but nope, it's there simply to mock you. And summon an irritating little Lich.

The Pumpkin Knight, Skull Head and Death WERE cool, as are their weapons, the Unholy Sword and Inferno Scythe. They can be looted too, if you immediately loot them the second they die. You can't equip them at first, you need to drop them first, then pick them back up. Then you can use them.

I'll give the mod a 6/10 and endorse it. An interesting mod, with a promising concept, but it needed more work. More subtlety, tone down a lot on the gore and jumpscare attempts, work on atmosphere, and make sure hidden doors and switches are where the player can access them without console commands.

Great mod, but how do you know its over? I got to pumpkin and killed him and couldn't find anywhere else to go.

This mod would be alot better with some kind of "Guide rail" It doesnt need to tell people exactly what to do or where, but at least some guidance would be good.

Six years later, I am playing this mod and am having the same problem. Sorry to necro the thread, but I'm not seeing an answer to Lena's question.

I killed the pumkin knight after the room of traps and spinning spiked logs, I can see there is a door on the map in the room where I killed the pumpkin knight in the room with the two stone coffins, but there are no doors on those walls in the corner behind the crates. I've even jumped behind the crates, looking for a secret door or something that will acknowledge it's not just a wall. I do not see a trap door on the floor there either.

I'm spent a lot of time trying to move the boxes, blasting the boxes, trying to interact with anything in that corner where the door to the next room shows on the map, and nada.

How do I proceed so I can continue with this mod?

Edit to add:  Is pumpkin head the end of the mod?  I expect it's not but I can't figure out how to go any further with this mod unless I can get into that secret space to access the door to the catacombs.

From what I recall, the final room is this place with A BUNCH of vampires.

By that point you should have all 3 (or 4) hearts. You then bring them back to the graves outside and the dead can finally rest in peace.

I'm playing this map and I'm kind of confused, I'm at maybe the second or third lich now and i could only find the hearts to the first two, I'm stuck at the part where there is a spike trap that leads to a round alter, but other than that, i hit a dead end, am I suppose to be able to destroy the heart outside somehow?

No... The heart outside is a bait , leave it alone . It lives on . You should have only one heart to destroy , after that seek only what the
( three ) graves asked you to return to them .

I didn't enjoy it for a variety of reasons:

    - First, the mod is not scary. I don't know how people could get scared seeing a zombie spawning out of nowhere in a door when there is no tension building up, nothing at all. The execution of the mod is really delusional. It reminds me of why I will never use mods like Sounds of Cyrodil, although they have a lot of endorsements. If you make people hear a howling while walking through the house, you have to make the wolf appear sooner or later. Or it is too much? Strange noises coming out of nowhere are not scary, if 1) you don't use text to build up the tension; 2) nothing at all happens.

    - The mod has text errors. From 'Ethereal', to the pumpkin warrior having no greeting. I don't even understand the point of a 'death knight' not attacking you, or a 'pumpkin warrior' that is neutral as well. Especially one that has no greeting.

    - The mod has no story. The only background available is offered by you on the description inside the readme/tes nexus page. Otherwise, if I didn't even know about the fact that there was a tomb down the house, I doubt I would have even thought linking the two things. Seeing some corpses and some skeleton do not exactly make a house haunted. And seeing butchered corpses means just that someone murdered them, not that there is a curse or whatever that is haunting the house. In fact, why is the mod called 'haunted house'?

I don't recommend this mod, at all.

Yes, you're right. It has heavy atmosphere but not really scary.
    >the pumpkin warrior having no greeting
He should attack you on sight. Do you have any mods that affect agressiveness? Or your character's personality is 200+? I think it's problem of your game, not the mod.
    >The mod has no story.
Khm... There are one scroll on the desk and one more in the basement (if I remember correctly). It gives some basic information.
    >I don't recommend this mod, at all.
This mod have cheating loot from "bosses", but offers some tough fighting. It's perfect for people who tired of weak enemies.

    1)
    2) The pumpkin warrior could be my fault.
    3) The scroll in the basement talks about how to open the 'secret' door that leads you to the room you get if you finish the mod. I don't think I've found other notes? Beside, I think I've explored pretty well given the fact that I found the secret 'corridor' in half a second.
    4) And that's exactly why I don't recommend it. I don't need cheat loot, I need a good story, notes, diaries and stuff of this sort. It has to be deeply embedded into the game, not leave the player guessing if he lost something. And cheating loot is not exactly what I would call, a likeable thing

You could always make a better mod since you seem to be so knowledgeable about it. And then you can release all that work for free. The game engine is not built for a 'scarefest'. Also, I made this, like 8 years ago.

It was released for Halloween, and was not meant to be terribly scary. Especially if you watch horror movies all the time and nothing scares you anymore.

But that is just my opinion on the subject. And everyone has one. Many people like the mod for its ambience, which is severely lacking in the rest of Oblivion.

Your mod was one of the first mods I downloaded, and I had one of my most memorable fights in it.

After completing the Mod , Heres my review on Haunted House By Willie Sea .
    I Give this Mod ( 7 ******* Stars )And heres why .
There are only a few Haunted house Mods , and thats incentive enough for a few stars .
    Secondly its fun ,
Third , the Mod is thick with atmosphere to make you feel as if in a truely haunted house , and the searching for certain items takes time and dilligence .
There is a back story beginning in the discription of the Mod .... It is rumored that the people who lived in the house unearthed some ancient cursed tomb. The spirits escaped their cursed tomb and killed them all. The people who lived there and who were killed " now inhabit the house and its basements " too. Who knows what evil the escaped spirits have built in their new underground fortress , that they now possess as there own as well in the lower depths .
Now the quest begins with you ...only you can restore the house back to its original state of being non possessed .
The Starting point is the graves of the original owners . Fulfill their request by visiting their graves ..... and please respect the flower arrangment .
At the end you may not find a certain something , but remember ..........
Only by fulfilling their request can you seek the final prize . And to fulfil the request you must go the distance to obtain the keys to each layer of adventure .
A Poetic Clue when defeating punkinhead ......
" Satans cunning , leaves no scheme untry'd,
Yet you seek to not be pushed aside ,
no stone unturn'd, no space denied
And its right before you , just inside . "
    ........................................................................
Like i said earlier , I had a lot of fun over a period of almost a full day , as i started on level 2 with 2 companions using ( realistic Leveling ) .
When it was all done i was at level 11 because of all the boss Fights , and my 2 companions were trying to kill each other in certain areas ....i had to keep refocusing them that they need to follow me ..in time they continued on and we succeeded .
If you have RedBag Fog or darker dungeons installed it inhances certain areas and makes it creepier .
To get a really detailed install for cell managment i recommend OBMM with the help of Wry Bash with Python . If you prefer you cab even install with Wry Bash ... under the installers tab , just drag and drop the ( Haunted House zip file download ) into the white area next to your other files , then right click
to install .Be sure to rebuild your bash patch afterward .
Thanks for reading.........its off to ( Darkness Hollows ) for my next review . Darkness Hollows Link if allowed ( http://tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/files/file/659-darkness-hollows-tesas-2010-halloween-challenge/ )
