The Elder Scrolls IV
OBLIVION

Imbue Essence 0.98 BETA
REQUIRES OBSE v12 OR HIGHER

*****************************************************************

Index:
1. Installation
2. Playing the Plugin
3. Save Games
4. Known Issues/Conflicts
5. Detailed Mechanics
6. Revisions

*****************************************************************

1. INSTALLING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

To install the plugin, unzip the esp into the Data directory.
Note that if you are installing from an old version, you'll have
to purge all of your currently imbued items. After that,
overwrite the old .esp.

*****************************************************************

2. PLAYING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

From the Oblivion Launcher, select Data Files and check the box
next to the installed plugin file.

Note that this plugin requires Oblivion Script Extender v12 or
higher, which can be downloaded from http://obse.silverlock.org/

You will receive two lesser powers... Extract Essence and Purge
Essence.

Extract Essence requires gems known as Essence Drops, which can
be bought from the Mystic Emporium.

Casting Extract Essence on a dead opponent, or an opponent who
dies while the spell is in effect, will fill one of your Essence
Drops. This jewel can be used to add some of the strengths and
weaknesses of the enemy it came from to one player-enchanted item
of your choosing. To see what effects it will add, either equip
the Drop and 'Examine' it, or activate it outside your inventory
and observe the printed message(s). Only one Drop may be
extracted from a given foe.

To actually imbue an item, activate a filled Drop outside your
inventory, and select 'Imbue'. Place one custom-enchanted item
in the container that appears; these include items created and
the Arcane University's alter of enchanting and items enchanted
using Sigil Stones. Close the container, then retrieve the
imbued item after it opens again.

Purge Essence allows you to remove the extra effects on imbued
items, returning them to their natural state. Cast the spell,
then place all items to be purged into the container and close
it. Retrieve them all when it reopens. You will not be able to
recover used Essence Drops, however.

*NOTE: To remove the need for empty Essence Drops and allow you
to extract essence more than once on a single foe, enter
'set "1ddEssenceQuest".debug to 1' in the console.

*****************************************************************

3. Save Games

*****************************************************************

This plugin should not invalidate your old saved games. If you
save your game while this plugin is loaded, you may encounter
error messages when you reload the saved game without the plugin.
Any changes to items that have not been Purged will remain, so
run them through Purge Essence before you do.

*****************************************************************

4. Known Issues/Conflicts

*****************************************************************

If combined with a plugin that strengthens player-made
enchantments, using Imbued Essence might make enchantments too
powerful.

5. Detailed Mechanics

*****************************************************************

Daedra, including Dremora, yield Drops with passive resistances,
weaknesses, and abilities like Reflect and Absorb. The exact
effects depend on the target's natural abilities.

All other creatures grant one attribute bonus (the highest of
that creature's attributes) and one penalty (the lowest).

NPCs grant one skill bonus and one skill penalty from their
field of specialization (Combat, Magic, or Stealth), chosen from
the highest and lowest skill within that field.

Effects are scaled to the level of their proginator. In the case
of NPCs and Creatures, the bonus is increased by 3 per level.

Daedric abilities are more complex; if their ability set is
overall advantagous, both the benefits and the penalties are
increased per level. If not (say, a weakness to magic with no
redeeming bonuses), a passive Restore Health, Fatigue, or Magicka
effect is added depending on the Daedra's attributes. Health for
high Strength, Fatigue for high Endurance, Magicka for high
Willpower.

For weapons, a bonus to an attribute results in an Absorb
Attribute effect, while weakness results in Drain Attribute.
Ditto for skills. Resistances and abilities are mapped as
follows:

Resist Fire > Fire Damage
Weakness to Fire > Weakness to Fire 5 sec OR Fire Damage 5 sec

Resist Frost > Frost Damage
Weakness to Frost > Weakness to Frost 5 sec OR Frost Damage 5 sec

Resist Shock > Shock Damage
Weakness to Shock > Weakness to Shock 5 seconds

Resist Magic > Damage Health
Weakness to Magic > Weakness to Magic 5 seconds

Resist Paralysis > Paralysis

Resist/Weakness to Disease > Damage Fatigue

Resist/Weakness to Poison > Weakness to Poison 10 seconds

Resist Normal Weapons > Disintegrate Weapon
Weakness to Normal Weaps > Weakness to Normal Weaps 5 secs

Reflect Damage > Disintegrate Armor

Reflect Spell > Damage Magicka

Absorb Spell > Soul Trap

Chameleon > Silence

Restore Health > Absorb Health

Restore Magicka > Absorb Magicka

Restore Fatigue > Absorb Fatigue
