Excellent mod :) I recommend using a blur strength of 0.6, it blends perfect with objects in close proximity

could you implement a day/night settings like Dusty distance has? Mainly want to set the night setting so NV can be seen more clearly at night. If possible.

I love this mod. Set it at 0.4 strength and combine it with default dusty distance. Got a slightly better computer and I don't see any performance drop.

I've been encountering a bug where the blur is visible through bushes, is this a known issue and is there a fix?

It's not a bug. It depends on meshes of objects, in my case I've changed blur strength to 0.6 and it looks perfect now

Can you create a version that, depending on the character's perception, changes the distance of the blur?

no, it would require more heavy scripting

What knowledge do you need to know to do it? Someone who doesn't know anything about programming or scripting is asking you, I'm seeing if I can make mods of this style.

instead of applying the effect at game start/loaded, it should requires a script running everytime, checking if the player's perception changed or not and if yes, edit the IMOD (the blur filter) values accordingly, then remove the IMOD and apply it again to reset it with new values.
It's totally doable and not very difficult.

Strip is no longer visible (the lights) from the distance, any way to turn it off at night like in "dusty distance redone" ini?

i really like the idea of this mod, but for me it just adds blur to.... everything. It's not an ugly kind of blur at all, it's just really off putting, you can even see it in interiors

oh i am, what i'm saying is the idea of a distant blur is a really great concept of a mod, but for me, it makes the entire game look softer for some reason

Same here. Winds up looking similar to the "soft blur" effect from Dynavision.

Most attempts at blurring in the engine end up this way, in my experience. A soft gaussian filter overlay that ends up not actually smoothing out outlines and feels more like using glasses that haven't been wiped clean. For proper lens blur I fear we'd still have to depend on tools like ENB or NVR.

Pairing this mod with this: https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/77735 is interesting.
