Apologies if this was addressed somewhere already but is there a way to assign an item to be given to another consumable? To be specific I'm trying to have the empty nuka-cola bottles/soda bottles (or really any bottle) be given after drinking dirty/purified water.

Yup, you can do that in a few different ways. If for example, you want all water-assigned items to give empty soda bottles, in the INI set 'rWater' to "FalloutNV.esm:09AA4E" (without quotes)

The alternative is to edit the config text file and change all items assigned to "$water" to whatever you like -- either another keyword, or a form ID using the same format as above prefixed with an @ symbol. This is on a per-item basis however

Thanks a million, the second option worked like a charm

Would appreciate a standard fomod. Using Root Builder makes your mod impossible to install because it simply won't find xNVSE.

Standard FOMOD wouldn't have INI file patching, meaning everyone's INI files would reset for every future update. Anyone not on top of updating their INI files would encounter numerous major issues as well

For now, you can set RootBuilder to a more compatible mode, or just install xNVSE normally until MO2 actually supports installing to the root folder

If you're using Mod Organizer 2, don't click "Manual".

If you did click OK, then it installed correctly. The installer doesn't have an interface since there's no real options, it's just there to manage your Food Scraps INI file for you

Any load order is fine, Food Scraps doesn't touch any of the base game forms

I use MO2.  Clicking OK does not actually install the mod.  It does not appear in my load order after attempting to install, just let's me know that it failed.  Going back to previous version until installer is fixed.

Is this compatible with Hardcore Needs Revisited? I'm worried because this mod also has a similar empty water bottle system to be able to refill.

You can redirect the mod to return bottles from any other mod, or disable the conflicting options

Hey slippyguy, do you think you could add empty bags upon the consumption of blood packs and radaway?

I think the Aid Addon mod has assets for empty bags and open permissions if you need a model.

Really, really cool mod btw. Thanks for sharing it.

Sure I can add that -- empty blood packs technically already exist in the game files so I can just repurpose that

Any potential for the Aid Addon to get some compatibility? Things like combat stims could return empty syringes.

Still around, I just have less free time than I did a couple years ago, and significantly less than I did 10 years ago when I first started publishing mods

Should also mention that I went through the effort to make sure the mod is powered by easy to use text files so that anybody can add support in mere seconds, even while I'm not around

Hello all, I would like to report that this mod does indeed have a conflict with the mod "Thirsty Courier". Somehow, it overwrites loose files in this mod and that means you wont get bottles back. Disabling the mod or adjusting your load order fixed it for me.

Please consider adding an INI option of auto dropping the empty items.

Does this work with TTW? I'm pretty sure that adds new food items, and I didn't see it mentioned on the list in the description.

I noticed that after installing this I am now unable to drop my caps when previously I could drop them or put them into containers. Anyone else notice this?

Nothing to do with this mod. Dropping caps isn't even possible in the vanilla game, that's something that comes from an engine mod, like Stewie's Tweaks.

do you think there is a way to make a mod that allows you to over eat so the bar isn't always starting at 0? I find myself wanting to eat things that give -600 food like a caravan lunch or mre but I don't want to wait till my meter goes down and get a debuff from that so if I'm at 0 if i eat something it should in my opinion give you +600 food etc then go down from there. max stack maybe +1000 since you go down to -1000 from 0 it would also help keep you out of your inventory as you could eat a good amount in one sitting and go on from there just wanted to put this out in the ethos non the less also great mod simple and makes since. you should put lore friendly as a tag lol

I don't think the values can go below 0 under normal circumstances, but you can stagger the thresholds so that they start much later than 200, and adjust the other stages accordingly

Jsawyer mod (the real one by Josh Sawyer) tweaked the debuff cadence for these things, with an obvious eye to the same concern.  The change was: 200/400/600/800/1000 -> 400/550/700/850/1000.  Not precisely perfection but better than nothing, and, perhaps more importantly, legitimately implemented by the game's lead designer.
