Excuse me if I'm asking something dumb here, but I'll ask anyway. What's the difference between this and off-nexus download? I'm asking because before the latest update, I remember having to download it elsewhere.
This and the xNVSE github releases are the same. We've only recently started including releases on Nexus due to recently acquiring permission from the original NVSE team to do so.
I apologize in advance for my bad English. I have a question. Is there a problem if I decide to start my Fallout New Vegas from its usual icon? I mention this because it seems that when I use the mod's "loader" file, it opens the game but without the use of the GoG client, and I'm afraid that if it does, it won't be saving my progress in the cloud.
If you launch the game from the usual icon (FalloutNV.exe), xNVSE will NOT automatically launch alongside it. The only way to get it to do that is to use the FNV 4GB Patch. Besides patching the game to be 4GB aware, which GOG version doesn't need, the mod makes the default executable launch with xNVSE. So installing that mod should fix your issue.
I just want to say how much I appreciate you guys making this extender, you are all helping save New Vegas from falling into the wayside and into obscurity. I don't think a lot of praise ever gets thrown your way, so I just thought I'd say it anyways because you guys do such good work.
I hope you can help me. I installed a clean copy of FNV from steam, verified that it was working properly, then installed nvse. I attempted to start the game with nvse_loader.exe, but got an error message: "This app has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way." I updated visual c++ but that didn't help. I began playing FNV again about two weeks ago after a long break, and began having problems when I began loading mods. Any advice on the problem? The only other thing I know to do is put one of my backups on. I'm running Win 10 on a PC. Thanks for your help.
So i recently got an error, everytime i load a save this message keeps popping up. i tried reinstalling NVSE and even using previous versions of the plug in and it keeps appearing smh
Just as unusable for me as it was 4 years ago, last time I tried. Makes 90% of mods unusable because it is a requirement. Causes the game to be unplayable, immediately crashing on launch. The Fallout that should be the most rich in its modding scene is thus barren for me. I despise all these script extenders for Bethesda games and wish they would just be integrated into Vortex more easily. In particular having to mess with different launch icons and such. Further, I know the term "root folder" may have meaning to the people who code this stuff, but it's simply not a sufficient description to most people. An end-user should not have to know a single piece of jargon. The fact that the solution is probably very simple doesn't help. Sorry for the text wall, but Bethesda is obviously not capable of making meaningful and playable games anymore, so the modders for things like this need to step up their game, as do Nexus, because these games are cultural artifacts that need to be preserved for people who don't want to trawl forums for fixes or learn programming languages
I'd also like to add the fact that when you have to add so many extentions to ONE. MOD. (a familure friend handheld pipboy) it makes it less worth it to take the time because I know its gonna fry something in my PC. why is it that something so simple as removing a part of the Player charactor having to take 5 different mod downloads.
I'm reporting here, I think the problem is with NVSE but I might be wrong. I've no problem with Vanilla game. When I use NVSE, as soon as I try to install a mod, any mod, the game crash with the message "Failed to initialize renderer Unknown error creating the Gamebryo Renderer". Only workaround I've found is to set the game in a lower resolution than the one of my screen. I've try to install NVSE with vortex & manually. I never had a problem using Script Extender with FO3, FO4, Skyrim or Starfield. Config: W11, Intel i7 12th gen, Nvidia RTX 4090, drivers are up to date, screen is 3840x2160 (to make it work I've set the game resolution to 2560x1440)
This mod makes my game laggy... but only when turning, it is this mod, after combing through all the mods after disabling JUST this one, it fixes everything, I tested it also, sense most mods require this one. I disabled everything but kept this activated, even removing plugins and such. YUP, just this mod is causing crazy lag when turning.

EDIT: For Epic Games Store version owners, consider using lStewieAl's patcher to make that version work with xNVSE.
