NEWS: If you want to use Hats and not look bald you should check out this new mod: Project hairline
1 - As of V2.1 the mod is divided in 2 plugins, a masterfiles that only contains hairstyles, zzjayHirsFNV.esp (which is ESM flagged) and can be used for adding hairs to custom races, easily. and a plugin t hat is only affecting vanilla races. if you do not ned the hairs to be added to vanilla races, do not activate this esp.
This is a comatibility update, and will allow more mods to reference this masterfile.
2 - The egms are uploaded separately due to size issues. my internet cannot upload a 400MB file in one go.
Thats the mod called Hairpatcher2 , which adds hairs to your game in a esp-less wayIt's not required or associated wirth this mod,bit it's an effective way to distribute these hairs to custom races.
no it's not, whie there's nothign wrong with hairpatcher, and it's recommended, the mod works just fine on vanilla races, if the plugin is installed. However please note that games like new vegas carry all the race information inside the race records, so EVERY MOD that edits races, be it adding hairs, eyes, making chaneges like FCO, adding eyelashes... , will conflict with one another, as only one edit can be applied to the same record.
I don't think i can explain it in a more simlpe way, but 2 mods cannot edit the same race, and to add hairs, or eyelashes the edit has to be done to the same thign, and thus creating a conflict. ALl mods that affect races are at a HIGH risk of plugin conflict (so undetected by mod managers) and well conflicts, mean only one wil show up.
Fallout2am, made hairpatcher for this reason. so that users can avoid having to load the esm into their own race plugin and distivbute the hairs to whatever race they want. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It does not work on custom races, due to the nature of how they are implemented into this game. for this reason it's in ESM format, so that you can add them easily to custom races, OR just use hairpatcher, as an alternative. It's entirely up to individual preference.
This is fallout new vegas, an old game, made by bethesda before they tailored their games for mods, so you cannot expect it to be as Skyrim and fallout 4 are, there are more rules to respect, and more limitations for modders.
I tried the vanilla races install. Nothing. Nothing in race menu either. I had zero hair, make-up, etc mods. I had a skeleton compatibility and a type 3 body replacer. I played with load order, made sure the plugin was activated and such. Nothing.
Then, I installed hairpatcher two. Worked perfectly. It's a good mod.
So, in practical terms, unless you have a clean vanilla install, I suspect folks will have much better luck with hairpatcher two installed. That's all I'm saying.
New vegas redisigned has edits applied to races too, An easy way o find plugin conflicts with your mods is FNVEDIT. it'll mark as red all the conflicting records from an esp, with all your other active plugins.
Als keep in mind that there are 2 PLUGINS for this mod. One is the master file, with all the hairs stored in, and the other one is the distribution of the hairs to vanilla races. BOTH need to be active for hairs to appear on vanilla races. if you only put the masterfile it'll not apper in the game. it's made this way to allow people with hairpatcher to use other mods affecting races.
In general, yes, using hairpatcher is the best option, and it's recommended in description, but there's people way too lazy to even install and set that up, so it's always best ot have options.
Hello, I am trying to make my own hair in-game and the mesh appears but there is an issue which i think HAS to be something to do with the UV textures. Im trying to use nifskope.
Thank you so much, it worked!! and thank you for replying to me. it was a good decision asking you for help instead of other ppl on discord. i cherish you deeply!! :)
Hello, so sorry, just looking for some help getting this mod to work. Nothing I've tried seems to help, the hairs just simply don't appear (in current game or in a new game). Here are my mods. Maybe one is conflicting? I don't know. Thank you for any help.
i'd need to see the plugins enabled. Hairpatcher, is used to give hairs to races, but the mod already has a plugin for races, so you need to have only one of the 2 enabled. if you have problems with hairpatcher version, you'd need to verify that the mod is instaled correctly.
I put on some glasses in game and my character is now permanently bald. Surely there must be some way to reverse this other than 'install this wig mod dude its totally the same you wont notice the difference'?
UPDATE: Since I have gotten terribly frustrated about this issue, I decided on a fresh reinstallation of FNV and an uninstallation of all mods and modding tools I used for this. When I had just fixed a crash upon new game issue, the hair options were still all completely gone from character customization. Very weird and I'm not sure how to fix this. I have tried verifying files, reinstalling again, removing all modding tools from my PC, updating graphics drivers, screwing around with Steam cloud; the hair options are all still gone.
I have no Idea why but ever since I swapped GPUs my characters hair is gone and so is all the NPCs, I have no idea what mod is causing it atm, and I cant even get Project Hairline to appear. If anyone would be kind enough to point me as to why that'd be nice.
I have Megaton, Project hairline, Hair Patcher two, eye clipping fix, HD teeth and natural Eyelashes and Eyebrows - HD teeth 3.0 Impact NMCs NV large pack for NMM, NVAC, NVTF, Im running T6M and a bunch of other texture overhauls like, Type 4, Weapon Mesh, Weapon mods Expanded, WRP, and zzjays.
Love the mod, only have one question / complaint for a fix. I tried looking around and figuring out a solution first by raiding the google search before coming here but I cant seem to find any. I have the atomic radii equipped with the rose59 style, and I find that the atomic radii disappears behind the hair at certain angles? its not game breaking but can bother me visually. I just wanted to know if this in fact fixable or simply just a quirk with the game / the mod and the cost of using a custom hair. Cheers! Great mod otherwise.
You can only have ONE mod that affects races at a time. if you have mods like FCO, NVR, other hairmods, etc... you cannot install hairmods. this is how the game engine adds content.
If you do have other mods that affet vanilla races, please use the Hairpatcher, as explained in description. before commenting on mods, it's recommended to check the description of said modpage.
If you do nt have any mods, then just activate the plugin from either data files or mod manager. If your hairpatcher isnt working it'd probably down to missing requrements, but that's somethign you'd need to check on hairpatcher mod page.
The hairatcher is an independent mod that can be used to avoid mod conflicts, and not necessarily required.

Not sure how they fixed it tho. They had some uninstaled file which wasnt really uninstalled.
angle with radii halo unobscured
angle with radii obscured by hair
I'd recomment using a wig from project hairline to cover it up while the halo is equipped.
