Many of these tips contain SPOILERS. You�ve been warned.
How to get into the slave market
1. Some Legion outfits can be equipped to fool the guard, but you also have to pass an easy to medium difficulty speech check, depending on the outfit you�re wearing. Some of the highest ranking outfits won�t work, and will lead to combat (i.e Centurion outfit)
2. If you have a vanilla companion following you (except for Boone), you can pass a barter check to convince the guard that you want to sell your companion into slavery.
3. You can find a �preacher� in the Strip, near to the Tops. If you pass a high perception check and a high intelligence check, you can convince him to give you a password for the Slave Market, which you can use on the guard.
Where to find a broken collar
Broken collars can be found in the dumpster right behind the Slave Prison. This is also mentioned in the entry �Reminder� in the terminal that the Desk Jockey uses.
How (When) to trigger Brandon�s quest line
Brandon�s quest line will trigger once you talk to him, AFTER any of these have been fulfilled (similarly to Arcade, but this also takes into account a Legion friendly playthrough):
� The House Always Wins, part V is active, and the player reports back to Mr. House that the Brotherhood of Steel bunker has been wiped out.
� Wild Card: Change in Management is active and the player installs Yes Man into the Lucky 38 mainframe.
� For the Republic, Part 2 is active and the player reports back to Colonel Moore that Mr. House has been killed or disconnected from his mainframe.
� Render Unto Caesar is active and the player has cured his tumor.
How to find out that Brandon is a Ranger, before his quest line
1. You have to trigger Brandon�s conversation about the NCR and the Legion, and use specific dialogue options in each, and pass some skill checks. You can trigger the NCR conversation on the balcony in Camp Golf. You have to oppose Brandon�s cynical view about the NCR, support the NCR, and then challenge his opinion, and pass a perception check of 8. The Legion conversation can be triggered in Nipton, Nelson, or Searchlight. You have to disagree with Brandon�s suggestion of how to face the Legion, and propose the NCR expanding further. You then have to pass an intelligence check of 8. After you have completed both of these conversations, chosen these specific options and passed both skill checks, you need to initiate the Return To Sender quest. You need to get to the point where Hanlon is revealed to be behind the problem, and then talk to him about his motivation behind his actions. Having done that, the next time you talk to Brandon he will talk about Hanlon. Brandon will talk about the NCR sending Rangers to Arizona. You simply have to ask him about that, and how he knows about it, and, if you have followed the instructions regarding the other two conversations, you will be able to question him, and he will reveal to you that he used to be an NCR Ranger.
2. There�s a way to bypass the need for the Hanlon conversation, and get Brandon to reveal his secret during either of the NCR or Legion conversations. What you need to do is fire Brandon, to his �base�. He will go to the El Rey Motel. There you will need to pass a reputation check to convince him to give you the key to his room (reputation of 3 or higher). There you will have to pick the lock of a cabinet (very hard difficulty) and take Brandon�s Anti Materiel Rifle that�s found in the cabinet. If you have that rifle, you can present it to Brandon during the ending of either of the two conversations, either NCR or Legion. But it needs to be the second of the two. And once you pass the perception or intelligence check, you can question him about his rifle, which Rangers use. He will take it back, and you will lose a reputation point, but he will reveal his secret to you.
3. If you have a reputation higher than or equal to 10 with Brandon during the quest line initiation dialogue, Brandon will reveal his former Ranger identity to you himself.
How to unlock the additional ending to Brandon�s quest line
You have to follow Brandon�s suggestion regarding how to free Robert, which is to get the orders from the Legionaries. Once the Legionaries are dead, you also have to make sure to take the list of names from them. Brandon will use that to get additional information on his target and it changes his quest considerably, by adding another part to it, and opening up a new path, which can lead to a unique ending.
If you want to get the unique ending, make sure you trigger Brandon�s conversations about NCR and the Legion (look at his interjection list) and support the NCR when talking about them.
How to trigger Robert�s quest line
1. You have to acquire a dagger that Robert hid in the Slave Prison, and confront him with it when given the chance, after Brandon�s dead. You can find the dagger, and the necessary information about, through a side quest called �Stumbling�. This quest involves finding the dagger and hacking the terminal that the Desk Jockey uses, in either order. The dagger is in the first cell on the upper floor of the prison. You can get into the cell with a key that is in the storage room, under one of the shelves, on the floor. The terminal contains logs about Robert�s murder of another slave (one of his pursuers) with a dagger, which led to his suspension from any purchases. Once you have that information, and the dagger, you can confront Robert with it later. This will lead to him promising to give you information, which he does after hiring him. Once you ask him about it later on, he initiates the dialogue that triggers his quest lines.
2. You can also use the dagger to frame the slave in Robert�s former cell, which is a 3rd and hidden way of freeing Robert. If you do choose that method to free him, you can tell him about it later on, after you�ve hired it. He will then initiate the dialogue that triggers his quest line.
3. Go to the Sniper�s Nest location on the world map. Close to it is an entrance to a cavern hideout. It�s the one that Nicole�s team used. Once you enter and reach the team, you find their corpses. Nicole isn�t here, but you can find a note on one of the dead Brotherhood Knights. It details Nicole�s desire to kill Robert, not capture him like the rest of the Brotherhood wants to. She has gone against orders, and apparently planned her team�s demise, perhaps leading the Legionaries to her hideout. Talk to Robert about that note and he will initiate the dialogue that triggers his quest line.
4. Fire Robert. He will go to The Aces Theatre in the Tops. Once there you can talk to him, and by passing a perception skill check, and then a reputation check, you can convince Robert to tell you about someone that is spying on him. Go talk to the spy, and manage to expose them. It turns out that he is a Brotherhood spy, sent to keep an eye on Robert. If you reveal this to Robert, it will lead to the dialogue that triggers his quest line.
5. Once you attain a reputation of 10 or higher with Robert, he will initiate dialogue with you and trigger his quest line
How to unlock additional endings to Robert�s quest line
You need to use the 3rd way of triggering Robert�s quest line, which involves finding the note that exposes Nicole�s revenge plot and her orchestration of her team�s downfall. This will give you additional leverage with her, and you get a number of new dialogue options with her, many of which can lead to new endings.
Locations and quests for Brandon�s Interjections
1. When you�re just outside Caesar�s tent, Brandon will initiate a conversation with you, provided Caesar is currently alive.
2. During Kimball�s speech, Brandon will react to parts of it, sighing and groaning.
3. When you�re force greeted by Legionary Assassins, Brandon will remark on them.
4. Once you enter Bitter Springs, Brandon will remark on it.
5. Before you reach the top of Black Mountain, Brandon will remark on the Nightkin Sniper firing missiles at you.
6. After you talk to Pearl for the first time, Brandon will remark on her.
7. When you enter Vault 22, Brandon will go and fix the broken elevator.
8. If you try to take the stairs after the elevator has been fixed, he will initiate a conversation with you.
9. If you fail to convince him to follow you down the stairs, he will take the elevator and wait for you in the last floor. He will kill some of the critters on that floor. He will also share some banter with any companion you have with you, once you reconvene with him, assuming you took the stairs. If you took the elevator after all, he simply remarks on that.
10. In the lower part of Vault 3, if you�re been hired to eliminate Motor Runner by the NCR, Brandon will initiate dialogue with you, suggesting not to kill him, but still get the bounty. You can tell him to take care of it, and he will talk with Motor Runner and complete the bounty.
11. Brandon will remark on some hats in the Repconn Test Site, to which Rex will react, and Brandon will reply to Rex, if he is currently in your party.
12. During the battle of Hoover Dam, Brandon will remark on the situation. What he says varies highly, and it depends on two factors, which faction you�re fighting for, and the outcome of Brandon�s personal quest line.
13. In the Ultra Luxe Kitchen, Brandon will remark on the torching of the meat, distressed.
14. In the Ultra Luxe Kitchen, once you reach the cook, Brandon will approach him and comment on his food, to which the cook himself will react.
15. During the aftermath of one of Lily�s frenzies, Brandon will remark on her.
16. If you tell House that you will blow up the bunker below Fortification Hill, an annoyed Brandon will initiate dialogue with you, and suggest a different course of action.
17. If you tell House otherwise, Brandon will simply remark on your choice with satisfaction.
18. Once you enter the main area of the Gomorrah Lower Lobby, Brandon will remark on it, and take a seat. He will also share some banter with Veronica, if she is currently in your party.
19. During Cass�s quest, at the site of Durable Dunn�s caravan, Brandon will remark on the site.
20. Once you enter Nipton, Nelson or Searchlight, Brandon will initiate a conversation regarding the Legion.
21. Once you go to the balcony in Camp Golf, Brandon will lean on the balustrade and stay there. You can talk to him, and initiate a conversation regarding the NCR.
22. Once you enter the penthouse of the Lucky 38, Brandon will remark on the lamps.
23. Once you go before Mr. House�s screen, Brandon will stare at a lamp, until you talk to him. You can then initiate a strange discussion about lamps, perception and Mr. House.
24. If you tell Yes Man to blow up the Hoover Dam during the battle, Brandon will remark on it (groaning).
25. After you�ve convinced the 3rd Ex-Enclave member in Arcade�s quest, For Auld Lang Syne, Brandon will remark on their five letter password.
26. After you�ve heard one of EDE�s Enclave audio logs, Brandon will remark on it.
27. In Old Lady Gibson�s scrapyard, Brandon will remark on it, and also interact with EDE, if he/she (it?) is currently in your party.
28. Once you enter the Gourmand, Brandon will initiate dialogue with you, and then interact with a steak.
29. During Boone�s quest, I Forgot to Remember to Forget, when Boone remarks on the graveyard near Bitter Springs, Brandon will reply to him.
30. When you first talk to Heck Gunderson�s son, Brandon will remark on him.
31. If you approach Grecks, he will react to seeing Brandon, and Brandon will talk to Grecks. If the Garretts� debt collection quest is active, Brandon will get Grecks to pay his debt.
32. After Grecks and Brandon have interacted with each other, Brandon will initiate a conversation with you.
33. After you accept the Vault 22 assignment from Dr. Hildren, Brandon will remark on this.
34. Once you reach the elevator on the casino level of the Lucky 38, Brandon will remark on it.
35. During Kimball�s visit to the Hoover Dam, Brandon will remark on his vertibird when it flies in.
36. During Kimball�s visit, Brandon can distract the guard that guards the way to the landing tower, if you don�t have access.
37. After you talk to Jerry the Punk for the first time, Brandon will remark on him.
38. If you help Jerry to go to the Followers, Brandon will remark on it.
39. If you give Jerry meds to survive the initiation, Brandon will remark on it.
40. After you�ve given Logan in Searchlight the radiation suits, Brandon will initiate dialogue with you, regarding Logan and the quest Wheel of Fortune.
41. When Logan double crosses you, Brandon will shoot him from behind, having waited there, leaning on the wall.
42. After you�ve talked to either Boyd or Sterling regarding the break ins in McCarran, Brandon will remark on what they said.
43. Once Marcus gives you the task to get rid of the mercenaries, in the quest Unfriendly Persuasion, Brandon will initiate a conversation with you. If you pass a reputation check, you can get Brandon to complete this quest. He will walk up to the merc leader, talk to him, and persuade him to leave.
44. Once you enter Mick and Ralph�s, Brandon will walk through the store, and comment on its contents.
45. If Raul equips his gunslinger outfit, Brandon will remark on it, amused.
46. After Ranger Andy has asked you to check on Ranger Station Charlie, Brandon will also suggest he same course of action.
47. Once you enter the destroyed Ranger Station Charlie, Brandon will remark on it.
48. After you�ve confronted Hanlon in the Return To Sender quest, the next time you talk to Brandon, he will initiate a conversation with you, regarding Hanlon.
49. Brandon will react to whatever brain you choose for Rex.
50. Brandon will remark on the Sniper Nest, and will also talk to Boone, if he is currently in your party.
51. Brandon will remark on a few specific stairways throughout the game, specifically due to his dislike of stairs. If Arcade is currently in your party during any of these remarks, Brandon will share some banter with him.
52. Once you enter the Strip, Brandon will walk up to one of the prostitutes outside of Gomorrah, and remark on her.
53. Brandon will take care of the thug in Freeside who lures you down an alleyway in order to ambush you, and he will cause his two other associates to flee. He will also share some banter with Raul, if he is currently in your party.
54. Once you enter Freeside through the East Gate, Brandon will initiate a conversation with you, regarding Freeside.
55. Once you start walking down the hallway towards the sacrificial chamber in Vault 11, Brandon will comment on some of the �instructions�.
56. If you�ve been tasked to investigate the suspicious �water merchant� near the NCRCF, Brandon will talk to him once you approach him, and call him out on his disguise, and persuade him to leave.
57. During the King�s first quest, regarding the bodyguard, Brandon will expose his fake ambush. After the bodyguard has �shot� the thugs, Brandon will shoot the car close to them, causing one to get up and flee. This will cause the bodyguard to attack you.
58. During Veronica�s quest, once you�ve decided on what piece of technology to look for, Brandon will initiate a conversation with you.
59. After you speak to Yes Man, Brandon will remark on him.
60. After you install Yes Man into the Lucky 38 Mainframe, Brandon will remark on him again.
61. For various reasons, either low reputation, conflicting loyalties depending on his quest line�s outcome or siding with the Legion, Brandon might leave you before the battle of Hoover Dam. If that�s the case, you�ll get a message, and he might leave you a note.
Locations and quests for Robert�s Interjections
1. Having initiated Boone�s recruitment quest, �One for my Baby�, go talk to Jeannie May Crawford. Afterwards, Robert will initiate a conversation with you.
2. Once you find the �bill of sale�, Robert will remark on it.
3. Once you enter Goodsprings, Robert will remark on it.
4. After your first face to face conversation with Haversam, Robert will remark on him, quite amused.
5. After activating the control panel in the �That Lucky Old Sun� quest, Robert will remark on whatever you chose to do.
6. When you enter Gomorrah, Robert will tell you that he snuck a couple of daggers past the guard, and hand you one. He will also share a bit of banter with Boone, if he is currently in your party.
7. When you enter the Lucky 38 Casino, Robert will remark on the Securitrons, and on EDE, if EDE is currently your party.
8. When you enter the Boomer firing zone, Robert will remark on the Boomers� reception (aka them shooting goddamn rockets at you).
9. If you enter Hidden Valley with the camouflage system on, Robert will remark on it, and share some banter with Veronica, if she is currently in your party.
10. After you talk to Karl in the Khan Longhouse, regarding the Legion-Khans alliance, Robert will initiate a conversation with you. Even if you don�t do this, Robert will also initiate a conversation with you after Regis does, if you have tried to convince Papa Khan to end his alliance with the Legion. If you tell him to, Robert can also talk to Karl, and expose his true colours to the Khans.
11. If you pass by the Arena on Fortification Hill, Robert will remark on it.
12. After the Legionary Guard in the Weather Station on Fortification Hill has given you back your gear, Robert will remark on this.
13. Once you enter the room adjacent to the interrogation room in Camp McCarran, Robert will remark on the captured Legionary.
14. If Swank gives you the key to Benny�s suite, Robert, delighted, will remark on that.
15. If Swank agrees to let you kill Benny, Robert will remark on that.
16. When you Enter Benny�s suite, Robert will remark on it, and start looking for hidden things. Once he finds Yes Man, he will remark on him.
17. If you use all of the Black Widow replies to seduce Benny, Robert will remark on that.
18. While you�re on Black Mountain, around the area before you get to the buildings containing Raul and Tabitha etc., Robert will remark on fighting Super Mutants. Lily will reply, and Robert will also remark on her, if she is currently in your party. This remark will also unlock a new conversation topic to discuss with him.
19. During either Yes Man�s, or Mr. House�s display of the Securitrons upgrades, Robert will make multiple remarks, rather excited.
20. After you talk to Marjorie in the Ultra Luxe, Robert will remark on her.
21. Once the Brotherhood of Steel equips with you with their explosive collar and sets you �free�, Robert will initiate a, silent, conversation with you, regarding the collar�s other feature.
22. Once you walk up to the sign outside Vault 22, Robert will remark on it. This will also cause Raul to reply, if he is currently in your party.
23. Once you enter Vault 22, Robert will chuckle in satisfaction.
24. Once the presentation in Vault 11�s sacrificial chamber begins, Robert will remark on it, multiple times. He will also remark on Rex�s growling, if Rex is currently in your party.
25. After the battle in the sacrificial chamber is over, Robert will remark on it, underwhelmed.
26. Once you inform James Garrett that you have brought him the sexbot, Robert will remark on James�s fetish.
27. Once you enter Clanded�s room in the Gomorrah suites, Robert will move towards his safe, unlock it, and hand you the incriminating tapes. While remarking on Clanded, and the tapes.
28. If you manage to trick Sal into killing Nero, Robert will remark on this, impressed.
29. When you�re spotted by the guard in the Ultra Luxe Kitchen, once he�s initiated dialogue, you�ll get an extra dialogue option if Robert is with you. If you choose it, he will then persuade the guard for you.
30. During the Beyond the Beef quest, when you�re near the freezer in the Ultra Luxe Kitchen, Robert will suggest using it to solve your problems. He will have some banter with any companion that is currently in your party, sarcastically (?) proposing them as the main course for the White Glove Society.
31. If you lock the cook in the freezer, Robert will remark on it.
32. At some point during Mortimer�s speech, Robert will remark on it.
33. Once you enter the King�s School of Impersonation, Robert will remark on the Kings, and his inability to join them due to being bald.
34. If you enter the Lucky 38 Control Room, Robert will initiate a conversation with you, asking you not to kill Mr. House.
35. Once you have repaired Caesar�s Auto-doc during the Et tumor, Brute? Quest, Robert will initiate a conversation with you, regarding the choice to kill Caesar and the ramifications of such a choice.
36. Once you leave the Brotherhood�s bunker, having blown it up, Robert will initiate a conversation with you.
37. Once Elder McNamara has given you his offer of an alliance with the NCR, Robert will initiate a conversation with you.
38. During Kimball�s assassination quest, if you are trying to save him, Robert will initiate a conversation with you, regarding the investigation of possible threats. He will then act, according to what you�ve told him (or not, according to your reputation with him).
39. When you enter the control room in the Remnants� bunker, Robert will remark on them.
40. When Veronica opens the door to the Brotherhood base for you, Robert will remark on her.
41. Once you have both Arcade and EDE in your party, Robert will have some banter with Arcade.
42. After you�ve talked to Mr. House during the battle for Hoover Dam, Robert will remark on him.
43. If you have sided with Yes Man, right before the NCR enters Lanius�s camp, Robert will express his anticipation for the upcoming double cross.
44. After you talk to Mike Lawson, in the beginning of the battle for Hoover Dam, Robert will remark on the situation.
45. In Lanius�s tent, right before the battle for Hoover Dam, Robert will remark on Lanius.
46. Once you enter the Mojave Outpost bar, Robert will remark on it. He will also share some banter with Cass, if she is currently in your party.
47. After you talk to Raul for the first time, on Black Mountain, Robert will remark on him.
48. During Kimball�s speech, Robert will react to some parts of it, cheering.
49. If the Rex�s quest Nothing But A Hound Dog is currently active, and you approach Lupa on Fortification Hill, Robert will approach her, and remark on her.
50. After Veronica has tried to persuade McNamara or Hardin during her personal quest, having brought him whatever technological sample you chose to, Robert will initiate a conversation with whoever of the two is currently the Elder. He will then also talk briefly with Veronica.
51. After Cassidy suggests killing both the Van Graffs and Alice McLafferty, Robert will remark on her.
52. After Keene enters the room following Dr. Henry�s test on Lily, Robert will remark on the situation.
