Hello. If you put x1, then at one time when you level up, you can increase three skills by 1 point? And if you put x5, then three skills are worth 5 points? If by default, then for example one attribute is 1, the second is 3, the third is 5, do I understand correctly? Is it possible to buy 1 point from the teacher three times for three different skills and increase the level, but then the level of the GG will increase to 200 or more? )))

Ive Just downloaded this mod because I'm having this weird bug that makes my game crash whenever I level up (yes I use code patch uncap and it doesn't matter)
I tried everything, the level up menu isn't the problem it's sleeping after levelling up that causes the crash so I'm guessing it's related to some companion mod but with this I don't have to worry

    I'll update if this works

So am I correct in understanding that with the x1 version your favored attributes just straight-up don't matter? In fact do your choices matter at all after character creation?

Your favored attributes will give you the normal amount (+10) of whatever stats you pick when generating a character. The "x1/x2/x3/etc" is just for when you level up, and of course you still have to place those stat points when leveling up.

I was hoping this would be compatible with MULE! :)

This mod needs more recognition. It's very simple, yet it completely changes the pace of the game. Gold is essentially XP now and levelling is very similar to the old Gothic games where you needed to find a trainer to progress. It also balances broken game economy a bit by making levelling a mandatory gold sink. Guild progression is also positively affected since it's not that easy to meet skill requirement for every guild simultaneously anymore. You have to focus far more. Avoiding combat sometimes actually makes sense now since it doesn't benefit you in any way directly. Using repair service is also actually useful now because spamming those hammers does nothing. And so on and so forth... It goes nicely with Creeper And Mudcrab Merchant Rebalance? and Improved Vanilla Levelling

Yeah, except that in Gothic teachers rather than gold require learning points, faction or a favor/quest, making leveling a linearly paced multi-faceted challenge and not just converting gold directly into level in unlimited way. Whereas in vanilla Morrowind, or with this mod particularly, stumbling across an expensive item and getting rich would instantly turn you from zero to hero which doesn't make much sense. As result it also favors thief playstyle too much: now in every run you'd always want to develop thief skills as it guarantees you easier access to leveling currency (gold). There is no reason not to. It's bad, it shouldn't impact your class preference.

Economy is broken because there are too many and too easily accessible magical/expensive items, money sink doesn't fix the root cause.

Leveling skills by using them was actually an interesting concept, because it's exploitable it doesn't mean the only way of fixing it is to radically remove it altogether.

I don't buy the point about avoiding combat either, all challenging actions should reward player in one way or another, on many levels (not just due to killing and questing) and in a way that's not exploitable - this is the real problem that leveling mods should aim to fix, IMO. But in Morrowind it's exceptionally hard as it's lacking traditional xp points.

I'd rather go the opposite way and remove or limit teachers instead, gold shouldn't be the one and only currency for leveling.

    Love it! Couple suggestions -

Maybe make an option to let you decide whether books can add to your skill?

And since this makes specializations pretty useless, maybe skills in your specialization could get a slightly discounted training rate?

I understand if you just want to keep it simple though.

Just goes to show... sometimes the simplest method is the best method. This makes a ton of sense!

This eliminates A LOT of inconsistencies in the vanilla game in such a practical way. Great Friggin Job!!

I'm thinking about using Your mod with my next character, Tizzo.

    Just one question:
I have taken the option to level skills & atributes above 100 in Morrowind Code Patch. I like my characters to have extraordinary skills sometimes (like Acrobatics for a Khajiit Thief).
I don't know the exact training game mechanics, I think there are only a few master trainers than can rise the skills up to 100. So as finding them will be very hard, is there a way to let them train the character above skill level 100?

Please note, all this mod does is set the various skill increase rates to zero.
You have to raise you skills with training, NPCs can only train up to their skill level.
The max skill level for an NPC in the base game is 100.

Console commands would be your easiest option, here.

      Enjoy!

I'm not sure if I understand.
Do You mean there is a way to raise the skill level of the trainers? Like opening console, clicking on the trainer and typing SetSkill 120?
Or do You mean a rather unimnersive workarround: visiting the trainer, raising the characters skill via console above 100 and removing gold from the character via console?
Sorry for bothering You with this.

Raise your own skills using the console. Not immersive I know, but that's going to be the easiest way to do what you want to do.

This sounds interesting, though any chance you'd add a version that doesn't affect the Attribute multiplier at level-up (so that would retain default behaviour).

      Took like 5 minutes.

Please download v1.1 and use the SLATE_Default.esp file.

Enjoy, and thanks for using my mod!

Oh nice, thanks. Going to give it a go now with "Balance Training" from Mod of Balance for more expensive trainers and No Daedric Drops, should be interesting.

    Great Idea, great oldschool feel.
