A plain text version of this description is available in the Readme.

These are entries in the Fallout4.ini that I modified to make the UI more responsive. I included as ;comments the Default Values, a brief description as I understand the settings, and the values that I use for my game.

Changes made by these entries:
  • Entering / Exiting Workshop Mode is much quicker
  • Rotation speed (by keys,clicks) of held object in Build Mode is about 2/3 of default
  • Crosshair transparency set to 50%
  • All menu animations/behaviors like scrolling, fade in/out are quicker x2
  • "Hold" or keydown length for entering Workshop Mode from 1.5s to .7s
  • Hold length for "group select" in Build mode decreased from .5s to .350s
  • Keyrepeat delay from .3 to .25s
  • Keyrepeat rate from .05 to .02 sec
  • Iron Sights pitch (up/down) ratio increased from .8 to .925
  • Radius displayed in "Local map" mode in pipboy increased 4x (thanks neokio)
  • Degrees of Freedom to look Up/Down increased from 80 to ~85
    -Yes I know I have no feet, and it is not necessarily easy in Life to aim weapons at this angle but I still felt too constrained.
    Possible future changes:
    Anything else I find to make the interface
    quicker, more responsive or convenient.

Note about patches to the game (1.3, 1.4 - some of these entries may no longer work)
soulXrobot : thanks for this info
"Also, ever since an update (i think it was 1.4, maybe 1.3 tho), the setting to change rotation speed
wasn't having an affect for me. [...] i found out that holding "E" also slows down the rotation speed.
(The author has not been playing the game for a while and can't test this on his end yet -- will update the mod when able to.)

pink2: "There is like 100+ fallout.ini files we need to knopw where to install this to, and how to install it."
Okay, here goes:

+++ Installation +++
Place the entries I give in /My Games/Fallout 4/Fallout4.ini
under the appropriate [Sections].
Or use the optional 'batch file' download.

Alternatively you can put these into Fallout4Custom.ini in the same directory.
This should make it easier to change / revert these edits in the future and
ensure retention through possible future patches to the game.

It's possible that these exact values may not suit your taste
or may not work well for your particular PC / configuration.

I urge users to play around a bit and find values which suit their own taste / requirements.

as 'Bundy714' posted, "The only other setting that Roamwild used that doesn't work for me,
is the setting for scrolling a list. With his settings, that baby flies on my PC.
I can't just scroll down till I get to what I'm looking for, it's just a blur....LOL."

"What's a .7z file, how do I open it?"

What's a comment line? or "what are the ; supposed to mean?"

~~~ Batch Files ~~~
~ in Optional Files ~
Extract the desired option(s) to your Fallout 4 directory with Fallout4.exe
or \Data\ (as of FO4 v1.1.30)
type bat filename (no extension) into the console.
AFAIK none of these settings will save. If you want
permanent changes, edit your .ini manually
using the Main File as a reference.
tweak.txt: Base values as suggested in Main File.
tweakslow.txt: Same as tweak with slower Workshop rotation.
TweakW.txt: Only contains UI, no Pitch or Crosshair adjustment.
TweakWslow.txt: Same as TweakW with slower Workshop rotation.
=== Removal ===
Reference the "Main File" or optional "batch file" download
Remove or comment out ; these lines from your .ini
-or-
Enter =default values recorded in ;comment lines of main mod file.
This method is recommended just for convenience if you may wish to
go back later and try custom values again.
Plug for free software: For best readability of .ini and many other file formats, I recommend Notepad++.
Look into userstyles if you wish to customize your view. This editor is
designed for programmers and those working in other areas of computer
sci so contains many features that I never touch, but it is very useful
as a basic text editor and can greatly increase the readability of the
.ini and XML files associated with this and other games/mods. For
example, the background/screenshot for this mod's file was taken from my
Notepad++ app with my personal 'user style' for .ini files selected.
My other mods:
Smaller Button Prompts
Minimalist HUD and Crosshair
Quiet Weeding Farming
