About this mod

Now with an ever increasing variety of other lock picking screwdriver retextures! Vault-Tec, anyone?

If I'm going to carry around my own personal screwdriver all the time so I can bust locks open at a moment's notice, you bet your sweet Pip-Boy I'm going to customize it!

FO4VR COMPATIBILITY: Use at your own risk. While I do have a VR system, I haven't yet had the opportunity to playtest this mod to confirm compatibility. I have added the tag for compatibility based off of a few quick google searches. Once I'm able to properly playtest it and personally confirm that it works in VR, I'll be removing this notice.

Am I jumping on the recent garage screwdriver retexturing fad with my own personal spin or have I been wanting a galaxy screwdriver for lockpicking for a while now and didn't figure out how to retexture it until garage screwdriver retextures became a thing? You decide.

Huge shout out to NaiRae for providing the lockpicking interface files for me to use as a base. My laptop was being stubborn. While you're on their mod page, might I humbly recommend their Girly 10mm Paintjobs and Cozy Scavver workshop kit? Before you ask, no, there isn't such a thing as too many curtains. ;)

Now on to actually describing the mod.

So it's pretty safe to say your character has a screwdriver on them at all times for picking locks and isn't just managing to find a screwdriver in front of every locked container out there. Why, then, are we not able to customize the screwdriver like we can customize so many other things that are on our person at all times?

Me being me, I love all things galaxy print, so I thought I might try my hand at retexturing Bethesda's same old, same old red screwdriver that looks just like all the other ones laying around garage floors. (See what I did there?)

Some torn out hair, head banging, and pizza slices later, here we are with a galaxy print screwdriver.

Seriously, folks. Retexturing ain't easy. If I thought I had huge respect for modders who make textures and retextures before I made this mod, it's multiplied many times over since then.

This mod's not perfect. Heck, it's my third mod on the Nexus, so that's to be expected. However, if any of you would like to request more lock pick screwdriver retextures from me to help me practice, go right ahead! Easiest for me to do is solid color retextures, followed by tiled textures like plaid.***

If you request a solid color, I'll give you bonus points if you can provide me an example of the specific shade you're looking for via Pantone's color finder. There's a million and one different shades of just "light purple" alone. If you have a specific shade in mind, I'm going to need more information than just "beige, please."

***You're welcome to request more abstract retextures like galaxy print as well, but just know that I may not crank those out super fast and I also reserve the right to decline your request altogether if it sounds more complicated than my sanity and present level of modding experience can handle.

Shoutout to NASA for their public domain space pictures.

Shoutout as well to all who endorse and to all who send me retexture requests.

Manual install instructions:

Extract file.

Go through the folders to the Lockpicking tab.

Texture's there.

Move said texture to Data/Textures/Interface/Lockpicking

If any of those tabs don't exist, you'll need to create them first.

Requests so far completed:

Spoiler:

Another Vault-Tec screwdriver, this time inspired by the one provided in The Wand Company's holotape kit, and requested by ImmortalAbsol. If you like it, be sure to send them a kudos as well for requesting it. Disclaimer: I do not claim any ownership of The Wand Company's design, nor do I claim any copyright on the retexture that I made. If, for any reason, The Wand Company, Bethesda Softworks LLC, and/or Zenimax Studios does not approve of this edition of my lockpick screwdriver retextures, please let me know, and I will take it down as soon as I see your message. Thank you.

Bonus textures I've come up with:

Collaborations:

Synesthesia Edition, done in collaboration with Bernadette Sheridan, who has Synesthesia and whose website and name generator can both be found here: https://synesthesia.me For those curious, the name depicted on this screwdriver handle is my Nexus username. I highly recommend trying your name out in her generator. If you like the results, she sells print versions on her Etsy shop!

Other mods of mine:

Spaaaaaace II - A Garage Screwdriver Retexture- Child mod to this one. Takes the textures from here and converts them to replace the screwdrivers you find scattered around the Commonwealth.

You had one job Todd - Renames Codsworth to Cogsworth - edits his perk and affinity messages accordingly. Optional file includes ability to rename him Toddsworth instead for the memes because I am a serious modder.

Other Clothes Treated Like Vault Suits - as this was a request from a Redditor, it only touches the military fatigues for now. It also should add vault suit lining. Other pieces may be added in the future, if there's interest.
