This is a small mod fix for people that keep hitting up my inbox after 2 years after I made a comment that I had a fixed plugin version of the mod. I didn't have the plugin I had 2 years ago (since I don't use the mod anymore) so I had to redo it. Here's the list of changes:

THIS MOD REQUIRES THE ORIGINAL MOD TO BE INSTALLED FIRST!!

Gameplay fixes:
  • Renames the weapon to "Rising Sun" for that added FNV Project Nevada nostalgia.
  • Removes leveled list overwrites, adds leveled list script injection so you don't have to make patches for the LLs edited by the old mod.
  • Added the Laser Crit effect for critical hits. Looks even better if you use CROSS Crit Goreverhaul.
  • Weapon had ridiculously huge regular damage (65!!) and no energy damage. I fixed this by balancing it against a Shiskebab, but doing superior damage over it (since it's higher tech than the shishkebab).
  • Sound level adjusted from quiet to normal like most melee weapons.
  • Fixed a bug with the secondary damage type and the out of range damage multiplier.
  • Fixed the transform (how it appears when modifying it in the workbench or inspecting it). It used a vanilla transform that didn't fit it and part of the blade ended up being outside the screen. Now you can see the whole thing.
  • Changed the caps value for it from 5000 (literally worth as much as all the weapons together!) to 205, a bit more expensive than a shishkebab but not by much. You can also improve its value with modifications.
  • Fixed that "chinese sword mesh" bug (thanks to the new MA keyword).
  • Added a blood mesh, so your weapon will get bloody after hitting another human, like the rest of melee weapons. It won't get bloody on the laser part, though, but that's intentional.

Gameplay improvements:
  • Adds its own MA keyword to the weapon.
  • Adds its own mods to the weapon, based on other common melee mods. So far there's a damage over time burning one, an pure energy damage one, and an armor piercing one. The three of them have a mesh to make the weapon a bit different if you modify them.
  • Adds a "standard laser" and a "institute laser". Institute laser changes the laser beams to blue, the sparks to blue, the dial and the animated laser beam on the grip (see below) and also adds some more energy damage to the weapon.
  • Added new materials (skins): default, red, blue, green, gold, chrome, bronze, iridiscent.
  • Added a loadscreen with some lore because why not.

Graphic/sound improvements:

  • Separated the blade, dial and laser beam parts in the mesh so they can have their own material. Then applied a material to the metal part with one of Ajhakra's Cubemaps. (This is because you can't use a glowmap and an enviroment map at the same time, so the original weapon wasn't using any cubemaps at all). This means that your weapon will now react to light properly.
  • Added an animated flicker in the laser beam on the grip.
  • Added animated visual effects: short circuit sparks and smoke. Also an omnilight so it actually projects light around the weapon.
  • Added an Idle sound using the Laser Musket crank, so it has a quiet hum when it's unholstered. It becomes quieter when in dialogue automatically as to not be annoying.
  • Added custom impact data. Before it only did the same impact as a laser rifle hit. Now it's a laser rifle hit plus the hit of a bladed weapon. This results in better, more powerful sounds that sound like they actually connect. Also, there is now a sound and decal difference if you hit flesh, ground or metal.
  • Improved the specular map so the blue channel is gone and so the leather grip doesn't have as much metalness.

There are two versions of this plugin:

  • Unique weapon: Places it in the Yangtze and nowhere else.
  • Leveled List Integration: Places it in the Yangtze, but also adds it to Raider Boss LL and to any vendor that can sell Rippers. Still is a rare weapon. (Better if you do a clean save first if you're already using the old mod!)
