    Thanks to all of you!
Let me know about bugs, help or settlement requests, possible improvements and your critique.
That helps me to improve the settlements and the information around them. Both are updated frequently.

As an update to the last post with the radio tower fix, I have written some LUA/Python scripts to split the main enthusiast version into 3 separate blueprints for those who have trouble with large Transfer Settlement imports crashing. Everything is exactly the same and it includes the previous radio fix. All connected items maintain their links, as the scripts properly re-index the fields within the file that define wire connections, etc.

To do the import with the 3-part version follow these steps (also see the previous post re: things to do before importing any version of The Castle):

    • Extract the 3 folders from the download zip to your \Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\Plugins\TransferSettlements\blueprints directory. You will probably already have some folders there. Either way you need to re-number the 3 folders from the download so they are in order in your folder. For example if you have nothing there rename them 1, 2, and 3 (22 becomes 1, 23 becomes 2, 24 becomes 3) to keep them in order as they are downloaded and in the folder. If you have some folders there already, rename 22 to the next number after your last existing folder then the rest in order from there. For example, if you already have folders 1 through 12, rename 22 to 13, 23 to 14, and 24 to 15.
    • Use the latest Transfer Settlements with the DEFAULT profile.
    • Start up the game and travel to the castle, in the middle of the courtyard. IMPORTANT: Make sure you followed the steps above to trigger and complete Old Guns and have the radio powered with a generator.
    • Enable every import option EXCEPT nuke before import. DO NOT NUKE THE CASTLE or it will break things.
    • Import the pieces in order. First, import P1. When it completes do a save, then import P2 (no need to wait or travel until the end), and save again. Saves take longer after an import so just be patient. Finally import P3. This one takes the longest as it contains all the power connectors. Finally when that is done save one last time, then travel far away to some place with an interior cell (I used Cambridge Police Station), go inside, and sleep for 3 days. Create a new save after that.
    • Exit the game and reload, then load the final save you made inside.
    • Go outside and fast travel to the small building just west of the castle (where you meet Preston to start the initial attack) and make your way to the castle on foot. Take your time as things will be loading in the first visit so your FPS will go down and your computer will be working hard. You don't want to travel directly to the castle for this reason or you may crash.
    • The first thing you want to do is connect a new power cable to the center radio BEFORE you scrap the generator you left connected to it. There are some connectors already on the walls. You can bring a wire down from the connector that goes to the 2 guns on the roof to the side connector, then from there to the other connector then to the adjacent wall inside, and finally from there to the radio. Make sure when you activate the last connector with the wire you will connect to the radio that the game shows sparks coming from the wire as you drag it. This means it is powered. After you connect this live wire to the radio, scrap the generator. DO NOT try scrapping the wire from the generator or any connectors. Scrapping the generator will delete its wire automatically.
    • Now just walk around the inside walls and scrap anything that shouldn't be there from the base castle (wood boxes, wheel carts, some tables in the clinic and random extra beds/shelves, etc.) making new saves as you go. There may also be some trees outside that need scrapping depending on your mods (I use A Forest). There isn't really anything in the main outside area that needs scrapping. You are basically done at this point so feel free to modify to your heart's content. I usually do one last fast travel away and back to the nearby building and walk in again to make sure the radio is definitely working after all that before going TOO crazy with design.

I dont know why, but I can never seem to get these blueprints to import. Ive had luck ffv builds, but none of these will even be an import option. I have all the rqs. Is there something Im missing?

Thanks so much for this, it really is a masterpiece...

One note, which only appears to impact the full "enthusiast" version. There is a vanilla game bug triggered by Transfer Settlements if you attach The Castle radio transmitter to power using an import. Basically it breaks the radio permanently, preventing it from getting power from the attached cable and making any other power cable you try to manually attach red. There are several complicated workarounds people have posted however I was never able to get it working.

Using LUA/Python I pulled the one reference to "Radio Transmitter" (FormID: 17A62B) from the file, re-indexed the idx fields, and maintained all links for items with ConnectedObjects data. You can check it out to make sure but I checked it extensively and imported successfully with results identical to the official version, only without the radio bug!

    PLEASE READ VERY IMPORTANT:

    1) Before you import, after unlocking The Castle the first time, make sure you travel away and wait 3 days then go back to trigger Ronnie Shaw showing up and offering the quest Old Guns. Completing this quest before import avoids the pathing issues Ronnie otherwise has which can prevent completion.

    2) Do not go scrap happy on The Castle prior to import. Definitely DO NOT use scrapall as there are sub-zones which will have their access doors removed, plus it will likely trigger the radio bug (as does nuking so NO NUKE EITHER). I'll repeat, DO NOT select the option to nuke the castle before import (or if you must ONLY nuke items you added NEVER base settlement objects)!

Before import just manually scrap ALL power cables and connectors, the water pump, and the electric switch by the wall in the courtyard. You can also scrap the broken artillery and guard stations on the top walls (but leave the one artillery station you build doing the above Old Guns quest until after import after you have re-assigned the person in it). There are base castle furnishings the mod does not re-import so scrapping everything will result in some floating candles and such. It is easier to manually scrap the few out of place things after import.

    3) You MUST leave the generator you hooked up to the radio alone until after import. Hook it up for the unlock quest, leave it hooked up while you go away and wait 3 days to trigger Ronnie Shaw and Old Guns, and then leave it during import. This is the only way to prevent the radio bugging out and breaking permanently. (Even doing this will still trigger the bug if you don't use my version with the "Radio Transmitter" reference removed.)

    • Use the latest Transfer Settlements with the DEFAULT profile.
    • Start up the game and travel to the castle, in the middle of the courtyard (I stand just inside one of the tunnels in case of rad storms, and look directly at the ground). IMPORTANT: Make sure you followed the steps above to trigger and complete Old Guns and have the radio powered with a generator.
    • Activate Transfer Settlements and select The Castle by space2jump to import. Enable every import option EXCEPT nuke before import. DO NOT NUKE THE CASTLE or it will break things. (If starting from another built version of the castle you can maybe get away with the option to only nuke things you have added, but never nuke the base settlement stuff!)
    • After the import do a quick "safety" save. Saves take longer after an import so just be patient. Finally when that is done travel far away to some place with an interior cell (I used Cambridge Police Station), go inside, and sleep for 3 days. Create a new save after that.
    • Go outside and fast travel to the small building just west of the castle (where you meet Preston to start the initial attack) and make your way to the castle on foot. Take your time as things will be loading in the first visit so your FPS will go down and your computer will be working hard. Make sure when you activate the last connector to drag a wire to the one that will power the radio that the game shows sparks coming from the wire as you drag it. This means it is powered. After you connect this live wire to the radio wall connector, scrap the generator. DO NOT try scrapping the wire from the generator or any connectors. Scrapping the generator will delete its wire automatically.

After a successful import, I can move around with like 10-20fps, but when I try to save or fast travel  my game just freeze. It's a really good mod but saddly my pc just can't handle it.

    A. It's a really amazing blueprint! The attention to detail is beyond impressive (some missing bits aside, fairly easily fixed if you have any experience in settlement building.

    B. It's insanely big though lol. "Reasonable" = 9000+ objects! Takes forever to load up (I have a Ryzen 3900X, 64 GB RAM). Also takes a long time every time I save, reload, or fast travel into it.

    C. I can't nuke it. It just gets stuck and delivers the 60 seconds error posted earlier. It almost worked once but my character got killed by one of the bombs when it was 92% finished (it took over 2 hours to get that far). I scrapped a small area in order to avoid bombs but now it just gets stuck.

    D. Again, it's an amazing work of art. But it's a hog and now I feel like I might be stuck with it.

    I've encountered an issue:

    Radio Freedom doesn't work.

despite saying it's powered, the guy says the radio needs to be powered. And any attempt to attach a new cable to the radio is impossible as the wire turns red when connected to it. Is there a fix for this?

do a regular save (not an autosave). Depending on the build you have it may take anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes or more! This is a very big build.

Just walk away and let your computer crunch the numbers, it will eventually unfreeze.
