    So this is probs already answered but ima shoot my shot. Been working hard so far following the guide, some stuff is a little fuzzy but i been making it through for the most part however I'm wrapping my head around things like the mouth and eyes. I know there must be some kind of weight painting information on them but i haven't had much luck and feel i've been missing something very obvious and need some help ;3;

For context, It's my own custom from-scratch model I use for my animations and I just cut the head off and made it fit the stock neck with the weights blended to my mesh.

my guess is I'd need to export the nifs of the eyes and mouth so that the weight paints on my custom ones are properly done and exported. If there's any more material i can find on this topic it'd be greatly appreciated as most tutorials i try to find are on weapons and armor.  Thank you for the rest of the guide though I'd be lost to time otherwise XD

    Hello,

I don't own 3DS Max, would I still be able to use this without max?

Hello, thank you very much for the tutorial.
Does the main file Freakish Race Tutorial - Version 3.2 include the Fixed Neck update under the Update category?

Also, in the tutorial part 1.5(Optional), the step is "Now you’ll have to translate the original faceBone Bones according to the shape of your head." Do you think you can explain exactly how I can do this step??

And the mesh files in the resources folder of the tutorial still compatible with the recent version of Caliente body mod?

Thank you so much for this tutorial.
I had been fighting with a mod idea for near on 3 weeks when I discovered the one step I was missing.
Full steam ahead now, thanks to you! :D

Ive gotten to part 5 with texturing. But as soon as I add in the Diffuse and Normal textures my model disappears. however when I only have the diffuse on it shows the texture fine without the normal map. why is it doing this? is it a issue with the normal map? When I load the normal map by itself the model is just white without texture but if I have both loaded it disappears...so confused. my .DDS textures are correct. been compressed to DXT5.

I have been trying to use this tutorial for the last 2.5 months. It's been a comedy of errors trying to get everything to work and I've hit yet another roadblock that I cannot get past.

I'm at part 4. I've got my head, it's UV mapped, I adjusted the bones in NifScope, and I've weight mapped the head. I export my file from Blender with your settings and try to import it back into 3DS Max. The model comes in as a distorted mess, completely unusable. Everything is stretched out and crumpled up.
I followed your instructions to a T. Do you have any idea of what could be causing this?

Also, what exactly are the "Non-Facebones" used for? Or is that explained further in the tutorial?

Thank you very much, Lazy Radly & Fancy Pants! This tutorial is just what I was looking for. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with the community.

If I have the most recent version of 3DS Max, will this tutorial still work?

I look forward to your reply. Meanwhile, I shall attempt to answer my own question. :-)

    EDIT:

Though this tutorial is very useful, I would recommend against using it unless you have a working knowledge of the requirements needed, mainly 3DS Max (and, I'm assuming here, but I'll add NifSkope and Photoshop CS6 - never got far enough to tell). I say this to possibly save people the time needed to collect and install the requirements to follow this work (like myself).

This being said, I will quickly add that I did endorse this work - it is amazing and I can't wait to tackle it again.

I appreciate the fine work of both Lazy Radly and Fancy Pants, but this tutorial is above my skill level without having to ask a raft of questions of the providers - something that I'm sure they would grow tired of (understandably).

In case anyone is still reading this and wonders at what I could possibly be having trouble with, it was managing to separate the head mesh into separate parts (Face, Eyes, Hair etc.)...the first step and I'm already stumped!

Anyway, I will never give up, but feel the need to take on some other tutorial(s) first before finding myself here again...or, if I'm lucky, a mentor. :-)

Thank you for your time, and to those who decide to venture forth into this lesson, good luck!

    Sincerely,

    StackEmHigh

This says it's a "tutorial", but is it suited for a rank newb who barely knows what modders are talking about most of the time when they get into technical details? I wouldn't mind taking on the work for a raccoon player-only race myself, but I have NO idea where to start, and don't want to go loading anything into the CK for fear I'll totally ball up my game. Or my entire computer, for that matter.
