I didn't see why until I tried the mod - and the very next ruined house I entered had one of them (the portrait shaped one) loosely hung askew on an interior wall (in Concord or Lexington, iirc). No doubt the ugly landscape one is too (though I've yet to see it). I decided to uninstall the portrait one anyway as (though it's a better shape for a window) it still has the painting's original frame around it!
Anyway it's a clever idea, and usable in its current form. But yes please to a replacer version - and preferably one where the glass is a tad less black so that it can work well enough whether placed inside or out (or maybe have different shaded ones for inside and out). And it needs a slightly higher res and have the canvas bump map replaced (looks ok from a distance but naff if on a wall you're stood next to).
Ceaseless has a mod that makes static windows all over the game emit light in the dark (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/17205/?). Is there a way you could apply this to your false windows?
I Just saw this now Jimmy!! Ima look into this and try and talk to the author, but from what I see, I totally think so!! I'll let ya know more soon as I figure it out. Thanks for the heads up!
Wonderful mod. Thank you. I like the clean look. After 210 years of scavenging, all the broken glass shards would have been 'recycled' from the windows - leaving them bare. Your re-purposed windows (from paintings) is clever and ...
The second floors are foundation pieces from the SNap'N Build Greenhouse mod, and the roof pieces are from Alternate settlements. After I made em I thought they looked a bit bare, so thats how this mod came about. Figured its the easiest way to add faux windows to a wall.
This doesnt actually add walls with windows on it, just retextures 2 framed pictures from the decorations section in the settlement workshop to look like windows, so you can put them on walls that dont have one windows. I might not have been clear enuff with this in the mod description.
This is such a neat and original work around. I'm not kinda this might win for most original mod idea. I actually kinda laughed at how simplistic but like... perfect this is. also neat houses A+
If your talking about the second floors in the pics, they're just Foundation pieces, vanilla ones and ones from the greenhouse mod. Roof pieces are from Alternative settlements is what I think its called.

You could also use this page's mod in conjunction with the one I linked to create your own "windowed" cement walls.
