I'm sorry to ask, but if I have 4k 16:9 monitor, does the game display black bars in cutscenes too?
I'm just installing the game on Steam so didn't test in the game yet, thanks!

Hello I apologise if this is late but no the black bars should only be displayed on resolutions that are higher than 16:9, which for me I have a 21:9 monitor but I think it should also work on 32:9. So you shouldn't get any bars on the side of the screen and the cutscenes never do any cinematic bars at the top or bottom.

Hi! Please add French version! Or just give me a quick tutorial about how to make it myself by PM. Thanks

Thanks for commenting :) I now have added the French version which I never did because I forgot I was going to do it sorry haha. Just download the .zip and extract it, then replace it with the file of the same name. Shouldn't need a backup because you can delete the file and verify your game files in Steam if anything goes wrong, but feel free to make a backup.

To do it yourself though takes a few steps but I'll try my best to explain:

      • You'll need to download a tool to extract the .par files of the Yakuza games (I use quickbms but apparently there's a better one) and then one called PARC Archive Importer to put stuff inside those files.
      • Extract your desired ui file in the data folder of your game and there will be two images called bar_horizontal.dds and bar_vertical.dds. Find those.
      • dds files are weird so you can't view them regularly sometimes. There's this thing called the Intel Texture Works Plugin for Photoshop that lets you view them in Photoshop so that you may edit them as much as you like. So this step also requires Adobe Photoshop (not sure if anything else works).
      • Open bar_horizontal and bar_vertical in Photoshop and delete the layer of the images so that there is nothing there but empty space. I think you'll need the empty space to be the same size as the original images or else it won't work.
      • Save your new file as the same name as the two images and be sure to save it as a .dds file so that you can replace them. I actually am going to put those two images with nothing there in this mod as well so realistically you can ignore all the previous steps if you like lol. All of the ui files should work with the same bar images.
      • Launch the PARC Archive Importer, hit "Open Archive" and select what ui file you want. Hit the Widen button next to Open Archive. I dunno what it does but it makes it work.
      • Finally, open files on the right side, select both the bar_horizontal.dds image and bar_vertical.dds image and select inject.
      • Save your file and boom. Should be all good.

Lot of steps and I apologise if it's hard to understand. I've made the French version for you already but I suppose now you or someone else has this as reference.

Big thanks! Oh I see it's just a texture tweak, I thought it was a bigger thing. I know a little about DDS files (take a look at my profile and my mods for other games ;D )! Anyway, I don't need to do it myself since you were kind enough to share it. Thanks again.
