I am playing 4.30 GOG version on Arch Linux. I cannot get any of your cluster mods (Vantera or Treasure Chest) to work... I install all dependencies, I remove all mods except DLC (TO + HOL) & I used shimoom as a time saver to jump to the gate zone. I start fresh new freeplay; your jump gates you mention are nowhere to be found in the area specified in your description. Using "reveal galaxy cheat" does not show your clusters either.

EDIT: It turns out that all folders in /extensions MUST BE in lower case characters or the game will not see the mods. I hope this helps anyone who encounters this issue.

So does it work as inteded now? I wasnt aware that this could be an issue, since i am playing the steam version on windows and did not had any problems because of this.

      Thanks for your response

I also discovered that the mod names cannot have spaces so "Treasure Chest" would need  to be renamed "treasure_chest". So far I am only able to get Vantera 100% working without issues. When I have ALL 12 of your system mods and dependencies for them installed I am getting red errors in the extensions list with "TextIDNotFound" in the descriptor; specifically with beaumont, treasure_chest, improved_vanilla_clusters and harmony_of_perpetuity. Mods which do not specify what dependencies they need in their content.xml will not throw the errors but may not appear on the map. I would try to fix this myself but I do not know where to begin to start. I spent an hour fiddling with those xmls to see if I could get results. I tried editing the ID's to match the corrected folder names and making sure the version numbers specified in the dependency sections of content.xml were correct but it still would give the red mod errors. I hope it is something that can be fixed without ripping apart .dat files. Cheers.

Ok, this seems to be a bigger issue than expected. So if you are changing the name of the mod folder, many files inside wont work because they have a defined path to look for corresponding file entrys.

So you need to change the name aswell in the following files in each mod:
      index/macros and components
libraries/sound_library, material_library and if existing icons

In these only change the source geometry in the xml files, not the macro ones

assets/environments/cluster/cluster_? (? is the initials of the modname)
assets/structures/build_trees or economy or every other folder that is there

I apologize for the inconvenience, is was not aware this could be an issue for users with operating systems different as my one.
Also i cannot update the existing files, because it would make any savegames with my mods invalid.

It appears the tools I will need are not available for Linux and I do not have a windows machine for extracting .dat files. So I will just have to make a feature request for versions which use lower_case naming conventions for Mac and Linux. Thank you.

The Cat/Dat converter tool by egosoft maybe usable for you.
Otherwise i have already planned putting out updates for my mods, so i could try and make for everyone a linux version too.
I will probably first try and upload one version for Vantera, please try it then out and tell me if it works, before i start making them for the other ones aswell.

Vantera was easy to get working... I renamed the folder from "Vantera" to "vantera" I also downloaded enzy_2.5 from the link you supplied and lostsectors installed and working. Many thanks for your efforts =D

      Update:
I found a python script on github which extracts the dat files but I am unable to re-cat them. I know it is not necessary to concatenate the extensions so I can use them as loose files... it is a slow process but I am getting it done. Thanks for telling me where to look.

At any rate, using lower_case letters and _underscores_ instead of spaces in your /extensions/folder_names and internal xml files will ensure mods are compatible on all platforms. It is my understanding that most mods on steam work the same way for the X series of games. I have not had any issues with the up to date packages I have downloaded through their commandline utility.
