I don't implement this mod anymore, please follow this link to see another mod I suggest to use and how to add the stars only from my mod (which are still better): http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?p=4440235#4440235
Hi, thanks for the mod. I have an issue with the background stars. While moving or turning they are blinking constantly. It looks like in an even frame some are shown. In an uneven frame they are black.
I was really disappointed with the default textures that es went with on this game. Thank you so much for the amazing improvement, and work you put into this! You are very much appreciated.
this mod is awesome, omicron lycia needs "clearing up" too Eucharion, love the new Devries, it now has the correct "coldness and spacey feel" realistic nebula and cold, far far off stars
I just want to point out that, judging from the pics you have posted on this mod page, something is very wrong with your textures. They are ALL low res and I mean all of them. The textures of your HUD and even the planet look nothing like the ones I have seen in-game on my end. As far as I know, there is no texture quality option in-game so yours should look just like mine ... problem is they don't. They look worse. Something might be up with your game installation. You might be running around trying to modify/improve in-game textures that look sloppy but are otherwise fine. Just a heads up is all.
Thanks, you know I suspected it too. Of course pics are worse but I don't know, I set all to max, mybe my graphic card is not rendering the shaders correctly? it's an old Radeon HD4850. I bought the boxed game then Steam made an upgrade of about 1,5 GB. Any suggest?
I doubt its your hardware. I am running a laptop with a nvidia gtx 460m and textures are fine. I guess my first logical conclusion would be using steam to validate your game cache for the x rebirth files. After that, I would reset all your settings within your ATI graphics control panel (whatever its called) for X Rebirth (assuming you might have a few custom settings in there). I would also make sure your drivers (especially graphics driver) are up to date. Then I would delete the Egosoft folder in your My Documents folder (move your savegames somewhere else of course for now). This folder will automatically be generated anew upon game launch. Might have to redo hotkeys and in-game settings but you should be able to place your savegames back into the file structure like they were before. I would definitely reboot after a graphics driver update (if it happens). Helps clear out old registry values and whatnot. If, after all this, textures still suck I would uninstall the game completely (make sure no leftover files, folders), reboot, clean registry, etc and then do a fresh install of the game. My best guess - something got corrupted on install or something is missing.
As a side-note, If you use tools like ccleaner or Auslogics Reg Cleaner (I use both) that might help too. Gets rid of unused and old registry values. If not, disregard. Might do more harm than good.
I've got an idea about it, but it's only an indea.
You might experience the lower resolution as a perfomance optimiser if your machine does not fill the recommended Vram/ram requirement and thus to save some the ram they have made it use the different texture size, the game itself on my machine, i've got a 3gb Vram card (which it hardly uses at all) it prefer to use my system ram which i upgraded yesterday, i only had 4gb which the game+os in the background was eating 3,9gb out of 4gb is rather extreme (not to mention my pagefile was also getting used).
Another idea is that you are getting the LoD texture instead of the real ones.
Why i think they might use different size of the texture is that if you are too fast in the game you will see them load the models than the texture, and the texture often tends to jump from LoD -> to up close texture, this is most notable when you load into stations though.
I had an issue with the ATI Catalyst so HUD and some planet's textures looked very LOW. It is solved now! Thanks for pointing me to it, I spent 3 hour Yesterday changing textures at the planets and be Always disappointed, this saved me other wasted time! I'll upload the new images :-D
