In X Rebirth patch 1.25, a change was made somewhere in the game engine that prevents Balor's from being able to fire their torpedoes. After spending a long time working on this, I determined that the problem is with the ENGINE, which is NOT moddable. Balors in the base game will be limited to their eight HIT/MA turrets unless/until Egosoft fixes this, which renders them more defenseless than freighters, and utterly worthless.
IMPORTANT: *The bug that prompted me to write this MOD is now fixed, and as such, this MOD will no longer be maintained. I you are free to use it if you like, I will not guarantee its compatibility with current or future game releases, or any other MODs, including my own.*
I have completely redesigned the Balor, giving it powerful, somewhat torpedo-like weapons which are devastating against stations and capital ships (like its torpedoes used to be) which work in v1.25 and later versions. I have also added four additional, shielded, forward facing HIT/MA turrets, which give it more teeth, and prevent it's new large anti-capital-ship turrets from creating a vulnerable area right in front of it. I tried to make it similarly powerful to the original, and also make it look really, realy cool. :)
Note that this mod will not add the forward facing HIT/MA turrets to Balors that already exist. If you own Balors already when you begin using this mod, you will have to upgrade them to get these, but the main guns SHOULD change on existing Balors, and newly spawned Balors should have all their weapons systems.
