I have the most recent update for the game installed and this mod is working for me.
Perhaps there's a conflict between this one and some other mod you have installed. I made sure I had no other mods which touched the same files and this mod is 100% working, both in a new game and an existing game.
It is also confirmed as working in the forum thread which lists mods compatible with game version 4.3: at this link
There's another mod which does the same thing as this one, but makes much more drastic changes to crew quarters. THAT one is not working in 4.3 (unless you start a new game). So perhaps you also just commented in the wrong mod comments?
Anyone have any ideas why this mod is not working for me after the 2.0 patch? It was working fine. 2.0 came out and I did a fresh install of the game. Are there any know compatibility issues with any other mod? I installed several new mods with the fresh install. I only have five crew slots available. I find the game to be a real pain without the extra crew slots. Thanks for any help.
As I wrote in response to Karsin below the mod only changes one file and that should not cause any compatibility problems. However, if you still have problems then please check the link below to find my email and send the zipped save game to me.
I just finished the story campaign in Rebirth, and was running around in the sandbox version...currently only able to put 5 total crew in the back of the Skunk, any ideas on what could be messing with this mod?

This mod overwrites the vanilla file interiors_rooms_playership_back.xml which dates 28.3.2014 and has not changed it's location ever since. So there should be no reason why it is not working.
As I wrote in an earlier reply there will be a problem if you disable the mod and at a later stage enable it again. One player has reported a problem when using a 1.25 saved game with 2.00 where crew simply disappeared on save and reload. For this problem the workaround is to dock and hire more crew, then undock and save (if the auto save does not kick in).

Any chance for a version 2 with 12 crew ? or even 15... there can be 3 NPCs on each of the sofas at the table, let's say two like on the stations. That makes up for 12 crew, at least.
I've tested an increased limit but found that it getting pretty crowded back there. So I was thinking of modding the crew quarters to something more spacious, with bunk beds etc.. Until then I rather leave it as it is.
I've followed your request MichaelSeph and added 2 more positions (sitting) for a total of 11 now. More may be possible with an extended back room in a future update.
I've tested this with a vanilla game (i.e. no other mod and no savegame hacks!!) and also asked two players to test it. It works just fine so I really do not know what your problem is. The mod just adds 4 entries to an existing file and those entries do not interfere with any existing entry in that file. Moreover, if you have unpacked the zip file into your extension folder then nothing of this mod should be saved in your game. Some of you have reported that the reference to "interiors_rooms_albion_skunk_macro" or "interiors_rooms_playership_back" is missing in your saved game. Again, if you do not have just put the zipped file into the extension folder then nothing from that mod can be saved in your games.
Of course I would like to help. So please, those who have encountered the black room bug, leave a comment with a list of all other mods you are using. Also please feel free to contact me via PM at the Egosoft forum. I might need your savegame, zip it and email it to me.
Ok, someone was quick with sending his saved game and here is the result of my analysis:
If you activate the mod, hire crew, save the game and then deactivate the mod you may get a black crew quarter. The reason is this: Every time you hire an NPC it will take one of the random positions in the crew quarters. If the mod is active the NPC may take one of the 4 new positions and if you save the game, then deactivate the mod and load the game then we have the problem. The game does not know the position anymore and so the game engine is confused and does all kind of weird stuff.
So, if you do not wish to play this mod any longer then first get rid of all your crew members, then save, deactivate the mod and continue playing.
No, not of all ships (this mod only affects the Skunk). Why can't you "get rid" of you crew? Dock somewhere, call crew remotely, select one and then select "You are fired". Works fine for me.

hey i had the same problem after.... everything do work but the crew i added will not respond as crew member but as stranger menu is like surrender and stuff lololol
so you should delete the next part if you did copy my code and hire new crew members... but every things got back to normal for me
i can add crew on ship/ station via calling them, can call the crew can go to the back room crew
You made my day!!! I tried to copy lines from an old save, from my first game. It didn´t work. BUT... i took YOUR Lines now ....and... it works Ok, i can go on toilet again, but the 4 People on Board aren´t reacting. I can´t talk to them, so no Orders. Now i must find out, how to delete these people correctly so that they aren´t starring on my toilet anymore .
