Not sure what You mean by that, all the texture settings are the same as in the original game. It's probably just the effect of upscaling and setting up medium/high denoising effects in the software I used.
I extracted the textures using dragon unpacker and reimported them using XIIIeditor in game. I'm not sure about other games that work on old unreal engine because XIII uses modified editor and a lot of functions don't work. If You're looking into modding XIII there's another fan project in the making with more people that'll turn out way better than mine but Idk how long it'll take. I guess You could ask people there if You've any problems. https://discord.gg/4NrH8MTT
It may be terrible late since I didn't think of this game having any mods, but still I really want to thank you for at least a bit of better texture quality of this awesome game! _________________________________________ The remake of this (different devs) was and is still a total mess... Sure it got better graphics and more logical and better environment/object placement- well I think that's what you'd improove automatically with a new better more powerful engine and better nowadays hardware.
But sadly still harsh game destroying bugs (worst one the AI freezes or wrong movements), far less immersive and bad animations, bad sounds- and the worst of all: trademark of this game which was totally like you're reading and looking at a comic, does not come across. Those "whooosh" and "blam" things are not even displayed anymore... They even changed the appearance of some of the characters.
Original classic XIII could have been still improoved on some things, but for what it was back on 2003 it was really amazing and well considered developed. It was just not well known since there was still not such a large Webconnectivity and activity and too less ads for it. Would wish the true devs of XIII would do a remake on the UE4 and also the second part which never got released.
I've worked on the textures alone so there're many things that can be improved by choosing different upscaling modes. There's an ongoing project with a lot of people that are testing all kinds of upscaling modes and even redoing many textures from scratch so I'm sure it'll be even better than mine. I got to play original XIII when I was around 10 and didn't have a good laptop/internet connection as well and I found it again after many years. I wanted to upscale some textures from older games that would never get a remake but the games I wanted to upscale had encrypted texture packages and I wasn't so hooked as to reverse engineer them cuz I wouldn't even know where to start. Then I found out that I can unpack textures from XIII so I started upscaling texture for this game instead.
Thanks for the feedback, it took me some time to reimport the textures but I'm glad people like the results. Also thanks for sharing my work with more people throught the guide, no need to remove it :)

I've put this into a guide on Steam (and credited everything to you <3) so it shows up relevant for the game, more people should see your awesome work!
Here is the link to the guide on Steam. Please let me know if you would like me to change anything or remove it.
