I like the idea that the resistance holds the commander in cult-like regard, great mod for immersion

    These vests should:
    1. Be manufacturable and limited in available quantities. 25-50 supplies per unit will be okay.
    2. Be Single-use like Overdrive Serum.
    3. Somehow ignore the soldiers will and bleedout chance, Question is "how?".
    4. They also need a proper inventory icon.

So this item is basically a suicide bombers vest?

I may not be ex military myself but I have alot of friends and family who are former service and I gotta be honest this is beyond offensive.

Normally I don't much care what kind of content folks put in mods its all good but this I just had to comment on.

It's a little risque, but there is no directed insult. Is it the reminder that suicide vests exist that is offensive? The game includes guns, grenades, 'terrorist' operations, abduction or assassination, etc.

And hell, you can already sacrifice your soldiers in such a way without the vest if you like, so is it maybe the vest as an item of clothing that is offensive?

Wow.I can't believe that someone could find a weapons mod offensive. Unbelievable. Do you find facts or the news offensive too? Maybe you shouldn't play games with weapons at all. It is just a game you know.

Downloads this thinking, "This is a great thing to have but I can't imagine I'll ever have the heart to actually use it."
Takes it along on the next mission anyways.
    Uses it that very mission.
    It saves my ass.
    Endorsed.

Y'know I was going to try to make a mod of this myself and now I don't have to! Woot & thanks!

Explosion needs to be way bigger, though, IMHO. If I'm going to sacrifice a redshirt, eh I mean Rookie, I want to take out the whole building in one shot.

I just wanted to point out that XCOM already allows friendly fire of explosives anyway. A mod like this increases the availability of a sometimes unavoidable and necessary tactic to force a no-win situation out of what other would be certain loss. I like Uhuru's idea of adding the ability for a chance that the enemies could accidentally trigger it with weapons fire. A small chance of backfire would reduce claims that it is OP.

So this item is basically a suicide bombers vest?

I may not be ex military myself but I have a lot of friends and family who are former service and I gotta be honest this is beyond offensive.

Well I don't know, many ex military, but I live with one who served 12 years in the British army is a highly decorated ex seargent and survived being blown 40 foot in the air, whem inches from a terrorist bomb.
So I asked him, if such a mod would offend him. Not at all, was the reply, those who use such devices may offend me, but every soldier knows they may end up doing such a thing.

Manual detonation of explosives, when no other choice exists, is heroic self sacrifice, if "Your side" does it and suicide bomber if the "enemy" does so.
Many a war film has such a moment, usually justified by potraying the one sacrificed as already dying, and using their last breath to "Save" lives.
In reality, their is little difference and when one side is outgunned, it's a valid tactic, to even the odds.
Simple fact is, whether a soldier is called a freedom fighter or terrorist, depends on which side they are on, yours or the enemies.

As for modding so called Offensive items, no Offensive items can exist, only the way such items are used, could ever cause offence.
We see the same argument used about Nazi symbols, like the swastika, both Swastika and Suicide Vest are simply modding assets

So apart from the Noble self sacrifice, scenario, what else in modding would you use such items, well to make it a little tougher (Still very easy) let's go for both at once.

Full conversion mod set in Second World War, Middle Eastern oil fields, where Rommel defeated Montgomery and took Egypt.
Fighting the Nazi's is a united Arabic Jihad raised wih American/British support. Lawrence of Arabia, Scenario, as planned for at the time), this was a real possibilty if Rommel had won.
Neither item would be out of place, in such a scenario.

Simply put, Modding assets are not offensive, by existing, it's how there used, that makes them offensive, not the assets availability.

Good mod, my lone surrounded soldier can now go out with a bang rather than get torn to bits by the aliens!

Disagree, having defended this mods right to exist, I will then say it's not yet a "good" Sucide Vest mod, it's a mere hint of the good mod that it may become, in time. If this was an actual new custom made unique item, in game worn as a visible, Suicide Vest, with all the functionality and limitations of a real Suicide Vest.

If it slowed movement (Heavy and infexible design), if the Aliens could Blow it up by attacking the wearer, if premature detonation was a risk to all your sodiers, that sort of thing.

This mod behaves nothing like a Suicide Vest.
This is simply a renamed grenade, the author tells you that. That's a logical starting point to make this from, though C4 may have been better, that's not an item you carry in a slot though, it may not be a viable option for this mod.
