Excellent mod! I have a 16:9 screen. Can I use your mod to see 8 soldiers on the screen? Another point. I tried your mod. But couldn’t find the files you advised to set to false. Can you please advice? Further, the Promote buttons now crash the game to desktop. Even though I’ve deleted your mod. Any ideas as to why this happens? Thanks a million. I was playing WOTC dlc when these things happened.
Not sure if this is still being supported, been a long time since I've seen a comment. Do you know if this will function for multi-monitor setups too? Or if there is a value I can modify in the ini to accommodate multi-monitor?
I honestly don't know if it will work for multi-monitor setups. I think it should but I can't say for certain as I don't have multiple monitors to test it with. Sorry I don't have a definitive answer for you.
Xcom 2 now allows controller support issue is at this moment there isn't away to move the scroll bar with controller. I'm trying this mod on 16:9 display, i've tried changing width by changing LIST_WIDTH_BY_SLOTS = 8 but the 7th and 8th soldiers are cut off. Only 6 are fully visible. What do I need to try?
Sorry I've been kind of in a hiatus. When you set the LIST_WIDTH_BY_SLOTS = 8 you won't see the other 2 slots because the 16:9 display isn't wide enough to show them. I'm not sure if blue raja's mod for larger squad size is in nexus but i know it is in steam workshop. but he has a setting in his .ini file to scrunch to slots down to make them all fit on screen.
Thanks for making this! I was happy to say the least that the game already supported 21:9..........almost. But you fixed the major issue I noticed so thanks again!
Just for my own understanding, is this basically "max squad size fix" mod without needing to use the scroll bar? Does it have squad size already increased or do I have to do that myself (as I want to combine with other mods, i.e. BlueRaja's GTS purchase additional squad slots)
No you will still get the scrollbar and no the squad size is not already increased you will need to do it yourself. It just moves the UI to to center of the screen. For ultrawide monitors (21:9) the ui for the squad was to the left and out of alignment. The problem with this is because in the code he squad list was anchored to the bottom left of the screen. So anchored it to the center and made a few adjustments to center the ui so it would line up properly with the soldiers. You will still get the scrollbar for any squad sizes larger than 6.
The reason being (even though ultra wide monitors do have the space to extend the width to show the extra two slots without needing the use of the scrollbar) is by doing so it would cause the extra slots to appear off-screen with no way to edit them at normal aspect ratios such as (16:9). I wanted to make sure this mod will work for all resolutions and aspect ratios in the event a person needs to switch from an ultrawide monitor to a normal one for any reason. I wanted the mod to be safe to use at any resolution since Xcom 2 won't let you load a save unless you have your mods enabled that you were using for that save and I didn't want a person to not progress in their game because of my mod if they had to switch monitors.
I've been trying my best to make sure this mod is compatible with other mods that would effect the Squad Select UI such as any mod increasing the squad sizes or the Show Me The Skills mod. So hopefully it should work in combination with any of them if not just let me know which one is causing the issue if you can and I'll try my best to fix it.
I added a feature to where now you can extend the width of the ui to where you won't need a scroll bar. So now you should be able to make full use of your ultrawide monitor.
Yes you will still need the "Max Squad Size Fix" mod or any mod similar that increases the squad size if you want a larger squad size. The closest thing to incorporating anything similar is I use the extra slots created to re-order them if you enable that option in the configuration file, but I do not create the extra slots so you will need another mod (such as Max Squad Size Fix) to get the extra soldier slots.
I mean I have my ini files setup for 8 soldiers total, but use the max squad size fix in order to get the 7th and 8th slots to show on the pre mission UI (which otherwise would be absent).
I was wondering if your mod does that last bit too or not, as I want to discontinue using max squad size fix as it has an UI issue with powered armor I think
No it doesn't do that last bit.You will still need the Max Squad Size Fix. Although the issue you described technically isn't an issue with that mod. It's an issue with the scroll bar when it appears for some reason. So by using my mod to expand the list width to show all 8 at once you won't get the scroll bar and therefore the issue with the power armor will go away. But you will still need the Max Squad Size Fix as my mod doesn't add the 7 and 8th slots, it only increases the display area to show the 7th and 8th without the scroll bar.
Any testing with "Show Enemies on Mission Planning" mod? I can't get it to work. On Steam workshop http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=635257372
Question. Did you also have the Show Me The Skills mod enabled as well? From what I have tested so far the Show Enemies on Mission Planning works fine with just my mod and it also works fine with just Show Me The Skills.
But with all 3 mods enabled the ui is a bit lowered than normal and it takes it a bit for the Enemy List to pop up. I think I had to wait at least a good 10 to 15 seconds. So it looks like that 2 of the mods cooperate but all 3 together may provide some issues.
EDIT: Ignore that last part because I realized I had 2 versions of my mod (development and release) enabled when testing that which caused the issue but when I did proper testing everything worked fine with all the mods enabled it just took it quite a while for the enemy list to appear
At this rate we all should just combine all our mods into one super mod. That would then get rid of all the conflicts lol. But it probably is my mod causing the squad ui to go to the default y level which is why it is lower normal to where you can't see the skills. But if you are having issues with the "Show Enemies on Mission Planning" not working at all I'm not sure what to tell you yet.
All issues were fixed for me awhile back in normal 16:10 mode can't really test UltraWide, but also wanted to say working with ShowMeTheSkills 1.6.1 with the new vertical option to move to bottom instead of sides. Thanks for the updates!
Awesome, That is good to hear. You're welcome. I'm having a small issue with ShowMeTheSkills where the squad select boxes are a bit higher than usually. Nothing real bad, in-fact most people probably won't notice it. I didn't come across it while testing but in the final release it is there. I'm guessing he might have updated that mod while I was in the middle of testing and making mine compatible which is why it didn't occur in my testing environment. I guess I'll need to pull down the latest copy of ShowMeTheSkills and put that in my testing environment and see if it still occurs. I think he did an update to raise the UI a bit while I was testing with what is now an old version because I read where some people were having issues of the Squad Select UI being to low on screen and overlapping with the bottom buttons. So for once I think it might actually not be my mod causing the slight error lol.
Working good here too now. You may want to keep an eye on that Showmeskills mod-it's becoming one of the most common/popular mods and you each integrate into the same screen. Thanks for your work!
Yeah I have noticed that has been a issue. I just updated it to fix the issues for people with squad sizes higher than 6. From what I have tested it seems the work fine now. The only issue I still run into is when a squad member is equipped with heavy armor such as the War Suit and has a heavy weapon, the edit button for the squad member doesn't show up, actually you have maybe a 5 pixel area to click on it. I'm not sure if that is something to do with my mod as I still experience it without my mod enabled with squad sizes larger than 6. Normal Squad Sizes (6 or less) don't have that problem. So I am still looking into trying to figure out why that is the case. But this mod should now be usable with larger squad sizes with the one exception I mentioned.
Tested it out and seems to work now thanks! I did end up redoing the configs to set back the default squad size (4-6) since that nearly defeats the purpose of this mod do to the scroll bar moving the alignment and not intended for that many chars on the screen but I bet it would be cool if it did on your ultra-wide screens, heh. I also noticed that when they returned from a mission that the info boxes were all moved to the left side but not when I use default squad size.
You're welcome. Thanks for being patient. Although what was the squad size you used when the boxes were all moved to the left? I've tested 3,4,6,7,8 squad sizes and I can't seem to replicate the issue.
Ok. I tested out the first missions because I had an idea of why the ui might have been offset to the left but I still didn't get the same result you did. Hopefully, its not my mod but if you still have that issue while using my mod please let me know, so I can dig into it deeper. I want this to work for everyone the best I can.
No. With out the mod on ultrawide resolutions, the loadout boxes are not centered in the screen they are to the left and do not line up properly with the squad members. Not really that game breaking but multiple times I've wanted to select a soldier to edit but accidentally selected the wrong one. So I made this so the boxes would line up properly with the appropriate soldiers. I will add before and after screenshot to add clarification.

One thing I was unsure about is whether I still need "Max Squad Size Fix" mod or does your mod incorporate something similar?

*NOTE* I do have a higher max squad size.. from another mod package. "TrueGuerillaMod" and using "MaxSquadSizeFix".
RES: 1920x1200 (16:10)
Squad size was 6 instead of 4 at new game start and happened when returning to Homebase with the Promotions.
I guess it narrows the loadout boxes of your soldiers so you can properly set up a squad with more than 6 soldiers?
