    I'm not playing/modding XCOM2 anymore, but I'm visiting Nexus regularly, not XCOM2 section, though. If you need help or want to report a bug/new patch incompatibility, please, PM me using CONTACT button above or message button on the profile page.

    UPDATE

    WotC compatibility: the mod does work with WotC DLC, all you need to do is reassign "Toggle Free Cam" hotkey in [Path-To-Mods]\FreeCameraRotation\Config\XComInput.ini from LeftAlt to RightAlt or whatever you like.

    If this mod won't work for no apparent reason (like mine did) then you probably have the override problem - to quote...

    "Go to "My Games > XCom 2 > XComGame > Config > XComEngine.ini" and delete ALL lines that start with "ModClassOverrides".

    I did this (they were all in a bunch together so were easy to find), and ALL my mods started working again, but most importantly, THIS ONE!! Thanks for making XCOM great again, wghost81

      This fix for the Override Problem should be stickied in big red letters on the front page of the XCOM2 forum.

      I just spent 3 hours of pure frustration trying to get multiple mods working again and this fixed all of them.

      Thank you.

      I know I'm a bit late to this to say the least, but the "XComEngine.ini" file does not exist for me within that path.

      Thanks, thanks, and thanks again, more than an hour exploring why it wasn't working and at last, again, working!

    Where you see Alt input instead : LeftAlt ( I also deleted the ¨ ModClassOverrides ¨ in My Games > XCom 2 > XComGame > Config > XComEngine.ini

    as shown in other post here.

    It worked for me.

    For WOTC you must change this in XcomInput.ini :

    [XComGame.XComTacticalInput]
    .Bindings=(Name="LeftAlt",Command="ToggleFreeLook | onrelease ToggleFreeLook"); toggle free cam while holding Alt
    .Bindings=(Name="F3",Command="ResetCamera",Control=True); reset cam to defaults
    .Bindings=(Name="F2",Command="ToggleAnalogMode",Control=True); toggle analog mode
    .Bindings=(Name="LeftAlt",Command="ToggleFreeLook",Control=True); toggle free cam
    .Bindings=(Name="LeftBracket", Command="PitchCamera 10"); pitch cam (10 deg)
    .Bindings=(Name="RightBracket", Command="PitchCamera -10"); pitch cam (-10 deg)

      I need to use Q as "rotate left" and E as "rotate right"

      after using this mod + tactical zoom, it always defaults back to the correct game default which is, q rotates right and e rotates left. This is standard for a lot of games and I have no idea why - if I press the righ tbutton (e) then the camera facing should move right, in my opinion, but instead the common logic is for it to swing left.

      Anyway, I can re-bind these in game but I have to do it every time I load up the game (especially tedious bc I have to re-load the game after an hour or so otherwise sound bugs build up)

      I could not find a way to change this in the any of the config files, one was very long, perhaps I missed it - any tips? thanks! this mod is an absolute necessity in my opinion

    I've completed Xcom2 without any mod. Now I am scouring Nexus for some mods for my next game and I'm surprised to see this mod and the number of downloads.....because my vanilla game already have this rotation with E & Q buttons function!!

    Any other reasons I need to install this?

      its not "camera rotation" like in the original. it free's up the camera so one can view the battlefield however they like. think company of heroes or the newer total war games.

    ive been trying.... is there a way to rebind the alt key to lets say.... the mouse buttons like any normal pc game of this nature? i remember playing most of divinity original sin solely with mouse

    edit: got it after 50 tries. dont really know why it wasnt working, might be cuz the game was still trying to use the buttons i was binding. heres what i had 3 restarts and finally worked
    ".Bindings=(Name="MiddleMouseButton",Command="ToggleFreeLook | onrelease ToggleFreeLook")"

    thanx for the mod. im remembering now why i could not play the first xcom. stupid console clunky views/port. heheh key binding are in the interface options... wtf?
    cheers
