And we're released. Both PC and Linux/Mac versions are under files.

Version 1.0 is a complete installer and can be installed over any Beta 15 or release candidate version without wrecking existing campaigns. The readme lists some issues you may encounter with existing campaigns if upgrading from some of the older 15s.

The only changes from RC3 to 1.0 are some minor localization fixes in Spanish and Polish. Other fixes are in the readme and Beta15f feedback thread.

We'll continue to support and update Long War EW if any major stability or gameplay issues are found. These will need to be consistently reproducible and may require savegames for us to be able to address.

... I'm also pleased to announce we've started up a web site for new indie development company, Pavonis Interactive, at www.pavonisinteractive.com. While we'll continue to engage players here and on the XCOM Reddit, we hope you'll join us there! We've set up a player forum where we'll update on our various projects. We've also put in place a signup for our mailing list, which we'll use to announce our upcoming Kickstarter (if you've previously emailed the terrainvictus address, then you're already on it).

Thanks to everyone for their support and feedback over the last three years. In that time, Long War has grown from a simple set of config changes to a huge overhaul with contributors on every inhabited continent. We couldn't have made it happen without you, the players, and we hope you'll stay with us as we create new stories to tell and challenges to throw at you.

Adding a sticky here because I haven't promoted it enough, and we really want to support all levels of pain tolerance: Since Beta 15e, the Long War download has 4 additional easier difficulty levels included, but you have to make a file change to get them working. Doing this will replace the key settings for the four default difficulties. It does not change static in-game text, so the difficulties will be still be labeled "normal," "classic," etc. "Impossible" really isn't with these settings, but it will still be the hardest of the four new difficulty levels.

To play with the alternate settings, go to your version of:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW\XComGame\Config\

Rename the file "DefaultGameCore.ini" to "AltDefaultGameCore.alt" or something like that. The goal is disable the usual settings file.

Rename the file "DefaultGameCore - Training.ini" to "DefaultGameCore.ini" -- this enables the alternate settings file to be used by the game.

After doing this, you MAY have to also delete the file XComGameCore.ini in your version of ...
    C:\Users\John\Documents\My Games\XCOM - Enemy Within\XComGame\Config

This last step is troubleshooting and shouldn't be necessary for most players, but sometimes the game fails to update the file it actually uses (XComGameCore.ini) with changes to the file users should edit (DefaultGameCore.ini), and this will ensure that the update does take place.

Awesome mod, this really gave X-Com a deep strategic foundation, from your work here I am absolutely going to keep my eye on eveything Pavonis Interactive does. Looking forward to the release of Terra Invicta, I really liked you balance in Long War 1.0!

Well, after 4 successful campaigns of XCOM 2 (including a totally insane one just to unlock some of the harder to get achievements ) I'm starting to miss long war, I've played with it for about 1300 of the 1450 hours I've put into EW and I still want more so I guess it's time to take a break from XCOM 2. Long war just offers so much replayability, it's an absolute must have mod.

Unfortunately Long War 2 becomes all about micromanaging campaign mode to an extreme degree. Constantly switching agents to the most efficient task, dispatching the perfect squads here and there, timing everything based on the nuances of the system. It's not very fun because there is only one right way to do it no meaningful choice just micromanaging.

The missions themselves are fun, especially when you don't have time to send a full squad so you do the mission covert with 1 shinobi.

It sure had potential but LW1 is much better.

Cool mod just would ask to be given a guide on how to change a few things or at least pointed in the right direction for the following:

1.) Accuracy - These troopers are supposed to be the best of the best from around the world. Navy Seals, Army Rangers, Marine Green Berets, Spetnaz, etc. Yet none of these troopers can hit the broad side of a barn. I would like to reset accuracy for weapons to vanilla settings. Where would that info be located? A trained spec ops sniper in rl can hit a dime sized moving target at 1000 meters (3000 feet, or more than a half of a mile away), Navy Seals must score at least 95% accuracy on their marksmen training tests to even be considered for the position within the ranks of this group. 36% chance to hit is not realistic, it is my drunken red neck neighbor's accuracy rating. How do I go about making it more realistic?

2.) Meld - The 20 per mission was hardly enough to fully modify more than a handful of your squad as is in vanilla, 2-6 per mission is REALLY BAD. not to mention fatigue and injury can keep a trooper down for over a month. In XCOM times this is a eternity.

3.) Enemy HP - 50 hp 8 armor targets? Seriously only 3 squad member types can phase this, even fully upgraded SHIV units can do all of 2 dmg to it assuming they are fully upgraded and can even hit the thing (SEE #1), meaning it will take 10-25 turns to kill it. Aint no one got time for that. Training file is far better minus the really bad shots that everyone seems to be.

4.) Remove Fatigue timers - So a Elite, highly trained, spec ops operative now needs 3 days of rest after 10 minutes of combat? Wonders how wars ever ended... Oh all the soldiers needed a rest for 3 years because they just spent a year in combat. Yep how do I remove these?

5.) Everything else about this mod is perfect. Those 4 caveats don;t make the game more realistic, they make it more tedious. Squad size is GREAT, skill trees amazing, more enemies is awesome, they AI of the enemies even feels better for some reason. So if someone could very kindly point me to a guide to fix these 4 things

The game is designed to be challenging, if you want an easy game you should play vanilla.

Also in real combat the vast majority of shots miss, So no it's not unrealistic at all.

I have never nodded and I find the process complicated. I love this mod, it is my new favorite game. I am late to long war, and finding the gaming experience freaking awesome, and am enjoying the game in the extreme. Long war hails exactly what I wanted from Enemy Unknown from the beginning. Maybe it goes without saying, but long war is the real enemy unknown. I have never posted before, and I would like to thank everyone involved. I also would like to ask if some slick modder wouldn't mind adding a 4th item slot in a mod for me, I am already using the 3rd item slot mod posted on the forums. I know it's a personal request, but others would for sure use it as well. Thank you for everything, and thank you in advance.

As of a week ago or so, this mod has been crashing EVERY TIME I shoot down a UFO. When I destroy it or my interceptor is shot down, it does not crash. The sound stops and starts, then crashes when I shoot down a UFO. I have reinstalled the mod a few times but it still crashes when I shoot down a UFO. I am using the most up-to-date version, 15.

I don't think so. But you can find Enemy Unknown version under "old versions" on LW download page. It should work.
